I've never thought about this but it definitely sounds like a good thing to practice. When you first started talking about this I was imagining that technique in Asturias where the bass notes are essentially being played independent of the treble notes.

Maybe independent isn't the right word but it always felt to me as if it could easily be two different guitars playing that same thing.
