When I was a kid in the 80's, my cousin and I caught these exact guppies in a local river in South Africa. They were very hardy and bred like crazy. We even ended up selling the babies to pet shops. Some had really beautiful tails with lots of metallic greens and blues.

Wild guppies here in the philippines are quite abundant. Though most of them do not have any distinguishable patterns or colors. Alnost all of them are dark gray in color. Must be because of the environment they live in. They can be found even on polluted waters. Some people often harvest them and sell them to pet shops as feeder fishes. They get sold without being quarantined so they might carry diseases thay may infect your carnivorous fish if you would feed them without quarantine periods. Anyway, great video man.
Yeah there are many guppies here in philippines and they live in canals....we also catch some of it
Me too we just make fish trap to get guppy. My youtube channel is lucky fish watch how i make the fish trap
I think those without colours maybe mosquito fish another kind of livebearer.
And also in the philippines crocodiles are most politicians 😂😂😂
Guppy in the Philippines used for vayan for dog dumbass
XD
Looks like endlers
Gonna say the same thing
They are slightly different.
As kids, we used to catch these wild guppies and also medakas in the sugar cane and taro patch irrigation ditches in Hawaii. I used gallon sized glass Best Foods Mayonnaise jars as fish bowls. Brings back many memories.
Wow.. guppy beautifful
From straya, accidentily caught 10 guppies in my local pond. They go well together with my yabbies, not sure about when they get to 30cm/1ft though.
Love you videos ❤️

I went looking for wild guppies in Florida, I was pretty sure I found some, I caught one, I put it in my community tank, smallest fish in there, it terrorized every living thing in the tank, I finally had enough and decided to feed it to my saltwater tank, I scooped it out and plunked it straight into my reef tank. . . . . it lived with no acclimation, still highly aggressive but kept in check by the reef inhabitants, so a word of warning, when you're trying to find guppies, be careful what you might end up with lol
is it still alive?
@@shres1567 LOL, no this was a couple decades ago, a few months after that I had a job move out of state and he went to a friend with my tank and it's inhabitants.
@@douglasdobson8110 lol that's amazing
That probably wasn’t a wild guppy. Eastern Gambusia are very aggressive, native to Florida, and look similar to guppies.
@@in7250 yes I later identified it as a gambusia lol. I'm glad I only caught one
Nice video ... Looks like Poecilia reticulata to me.. u should see the 'super males' I got of the Micropoecilia parae.
YES guppy collecting, this is one of my favorite things that you do - it's like a little adventure everytime, and I am so jealous you live in a place you can do this! (I live in the desert.)
Thank you so much!!! This is my favorite kind of content to make on my channel.
good
Here in Florida you can find some with black spots like a Dalmatian
Those are mosquito fish
Yeah those are mosquito fish which are extremely close to guppies. The only real difference is that they’re about .25 inches longer but they can breed with guppies and look pretty much the same. But yeah those cow like ones, black and white spotted are nice
It looks like the guppies have gone through mini evolution,, their colors have adapted to match their surroundings for camouflage, so now they look brown and gray. Helps them avoid predators 🙂
some of them are swordtail guppies
when i catch guppies no matter where i go they get colomnaris and die how should i get a good wild population?
Quarantine them well and make sure that get run thru a coarse of medications the cover internal and external parasites as well as bacterial and fungal issues.
Guppies are life
😊
Ik
Nice to get it from the wild
Hi
@Cherry blossom how bad is his injury
In my school had so many wild guppys in drain...
I tried using an aquarium net to catch wild guppies and it was so darn hard.
I have that guppy mixed
youcan go in shop and buy wild guppies
I loved getting wild guppies and killifish when I lived in the Caribbean. So much fun thanks for sharing😊
for the kilifish specifically cause in jamaica if u look really hard you can find endlers thats about it ....mostly mosquito fish to be found everywhere and wild mollies
I didn't know the carribean has a river I haven't seen one
In my country Cuba I use to get lots of them in the rivers and streams when I was a kid.
@@itzyaboi5880In my country Cuba, there is a lot of rivers .
Where did you collect the wild guppies? What state or country was it in?
The US Virgin Islands
I like this Brother ! Last week I caught some Peruvian Guppies.

Wild guppy a.k.a ikan cere/cetul in Indonesia...😁
Great video! Really enjoy seeing these beautiful little fish in their natural habitats. Would love to keep wild guppies myself however they're difficult to get hold of here. I can at least get n-class Endlers!
I very much enjoyed this video, and am looking forward to part 2! Always love documentation of collecting fish in their natural habitat. For the macro shots, could I suggest that you bring along some black construction paper or plastic, or even a piece of cardboard, and place it behind the tank when you try to take videos? It will help the camera to focus on the fish instead of the greenery that's behind it, and the dark color will make it easier to see their colors.
I subbed keep it up I'm so excited about my native tank
🥰
I find my guppies in my sewer in Malaysia
In the US, they charge at least $3 per guppy and they die within days. Sucks!
They are purposely released to the sewers to control mosquito larvae population, have plenty of native guppies in sewers here in Philippines also 😁
In indonesia you can found that fish in sewer
Di sawah sawah banyak yg kaya gini nih..
Setelah lihat video ini baru tau kalau itu termasuk jenis guffy 😂
Guppy a.k.a ikan cere... 😁
In Bandung...this fish name is IMPUN 😂😂😂

eveyone says the guppies need high GH water. Did you test the river water,is really High GH wather? thank you~~~
I don't know the GH but the TDS was over 1000ppm.
brings back my childhood days...
by the way love ur beard...
6:42 ya got a shrimp in there too
in Singapore there are also lots of wild guppies and also our rivers are mixedwith other types of non local fishes as well so many of them as they are being released into the rivers by hobbyist
Di indonesia mah banyak di selokan air item juga.
Guppies?
Awesome video! You need your own TV show on Discovery Channel...it could be called "The Guppy Chaser" (inspired by "The Crocodile Hunter"...RIP Steve Irwin)...really no joke! I enjoyed watching this video!
Adakah orang Indonesia yang liat video ini
I love guppy and i have a little guppy fish
In my country you can find those fish easily in the sewers, too bad they're not so colourful (maybe because of bad water quality). I already keep the males for months (maybe a year) and the fish grow long tail and their colour become so colourful like guppies that we find in the pet store but with different patterns.
Ini mah ikan jibud. Bnyk di kali2 kotor di kotaku
In indonesia you can find this fish everywhere, even in the polluted water
I've been thinking fancy guppies are too fancy sometimes. I really like those wild guppies.
So I cought a guppy and my mom said it looked pregnant but I didnt listen and know today she had all her babies I really don’t no what to feed them
Regular flakes just crush them smaller

I was visiting Cuba. The resort we stayed at had cool wild guppies in a large pond! I wanted to bring some home but I did not😔
Poor little fishes they don't enjoy their life!we are monsters!
in indonesian the name is IMPUN and the children the name is BURAYAK.
Di comberan banyak,,kalo tempat ane ikan seribu nyebutnya wkwk
in Indonesia, we find many in the gutter
He starts catching at 3:30 ur welcome
Also in the Philippines, you can see this variety almost everywhere
I wish I was there....Mind:there are mosquitoes......
I don't think it's nice taking wild animals out of their natural habitat, knowing what's going on the planet.
Only for conservation
These look like just mosquitofish. Though they are related to guppies.
Mosquito fish are sp. Gambusia
a piece of advice, get some good camera's and learn how to shoot a video
great video! like following the channel
I just got a guppy
How exciting. I have collected fresh water in Haiti and the BW Indies. Great fun.
