    I’m just making this observation as a gay man, so maybe I’m biased or hyper aware, I dunno… but it seems like just being gay is almost not even considered anymore when it comes to anything that has to do with someone who might be slightly outside the norm for heterosexuality. When I see anything LGBT there always seems to be an emphasis on the T, if not just a complete focus.
    Even when I see gay men being portrayed in entertainment it’s people that look RuPaul or Billy Porter, people who are androgynous at best, or they’re super fey or even wearing makeup. I almost never see just a gay man like me… a regular man, who looks like man, acts like a man, sounds like a man, dresses like a man, who just happens to also like men. That describes the vast majority of gay men I know and I’m one of them (describes my husband too). I’ve never even met or seen someone like Billy Porter.
    I feel like “it’s ok to be gay” needs to be revised to “it’s ok to just be gay.”

      they can't erase anything, thats the critical fallacy of our modern age. Words do not decide reality, only reflect it. By their logic if they appropriate man or woman to mean some kind of stereotypic expression or behavior, a word for adult human male or adult human female will manifest to take its place. Then they will be back to square one, it's like right now. The prevalence of the words male and female have increased in common speech to be as specific as possible. Soon regular people will just stop saying man or woman, what will they claim then? A person who is female will claim they are male and vice versa? Reality does not change.

    • @toobnoobify
      @toobnoobify 3 роки тому +23

      Their arguments are entirely dependent on control of the language, it couldn't be more Orwellian. For instance, they changed the definition of the word gender in laymen usage (synonym for sex, according to any old paperback thesaurus) to mean the academic definition (feelings). Which is perfectly fine, the more granular the language the better IMO. But then they proceeded to apply the new 'gender' to all the scenarios that were previously a function of sex (e.g. women's sports).

    • @ahmarcamacho8404
      @ahmarcamacho8404 3 роки тому +13

      @@toobnoobify They also use the words "transfemale" and "transwoman" interchangeably. At one point the ideology even acknowledged the existence of sex and how it isn't important in deciding your gender. While we have people take exogenous hormones and surgeries to change their sexual characteristic. In addition to fighting for puberty blockers and surgeries for their kids, you would think they would not go down that route based on their own logic. Cognitive dissonance. Even the language has evolved to people announcing things like "I'm a male to female transgender" which is impossible, their initial logic kept these things separate, not anymore i guess.

    • @jayjee735
      @jayjee735 3 роки тому +11

      They need to promote medical interventions in young people to justify the 'born in the wrong body' narrative. If younger people are claiming a trans identity then it means the middle aged men with AGP are not fetishists after all, their "gender identity is just like sexual orientation". Commitment to social 'transition' is a fast track to medical intervention and a point of no return, so the ideology becomes self perpetuating.
      However in order to have arousal middle aged men with AGP need their testes and penis, so simultaneously you hear the promotion of the ideas that "transgender people don't need surgeries", or "a penis is a female organ if on a transwoman" notice there are no middle aged women claiming a trans identity in the same proportions as middle aged males.

      I'm not certain what was meant exactly, but I relate to this comment 200 percent, so I'll share my interpretation:
      I have diagnosed stenosis with a bulged disc, an S curve and an inward curve in my spine. I struggle with constant bouts of sciatic pain. Took me out for a good three weeks at age 27, couldn't walk, couldn't function, took out my career projectory. Its genetic, super common in my family. The doctors told me there's no cure and it's a chronic condition, and my only long term solution is a surgery that would eliminate all ease of motion in my neck and shoulders.
      It's gotten waaay worse the last three years but I've learned to deal with chronic pain 24/7. Recently had my insurance drop all treatments because I was going to the ER once a month to get a short term tordol (high powered ibuprofen) shot, and they said it was "abusing" the system. All this and they have refused to give me painkillers, ever. It has never even come up even though everyone else in my family with the condition has their own script of painkillers and they can manage their own pain. None of them are addicts, though I'm sure they're technically "dependent".
      So I can no longer get tordol shots, can't get a script of even the least potent painkillers, all due to my state-mandated insurance. Here's the kicker:
      Right now my insurance would cover a FULL SEX CHANGE AND TRANSITION, covered 100 percent.
      It's bonkers hahaha

Being just gay seems to have been totally sent to the back of the bus in terms of this collective identity thing that’s been happening for the past 20 years.

    This was an excellent interview, thanks to both participants. While as a retired RN I am terribly frustrated with the medical system, I see them as being under tremendous pressure by activists to support an agenda. The patient is the one who gets to live with the consequences of these decisions. Perhaps he would have chosen differently if he had been forced to go through an actual proper diagnosis and therapy prior, but we will never know. He seems to be in a good place , and maybe this is the path he had to take, but what a difficult journey.

      Trans care does help most people who take it and the more red tape you put around it the more people who actually need it that you keep in suffering. We need to find a way to protect people from making mistake without dominating the vast majority who take this care and are actually trans into lives of suffering. It's a tremendously arrogant thing for people to think they have any right to get between strangers and their doctors.

    I so admire Garrett for his honesty. It seems to me that so called gender therapists are really not there to challenge the transitioning process or the individual because of the social pressure to promote the ideology. This is such a crime but it's important that detrains people tell their story. It might help someone else. Thanks for the interview Boyce.

      Look into the way therapists have been educated on this topic and others over the past 20yrs. Many of the educational institutions teaching therapists are using the "affirmation" model.
      Boyce has an interview with a student who is currently in a legal battle with Antioch university regarding the methodology being taught there which uses race as a lens for every problem a client presents with.

    Trying to "pass" is a full time preoccupation. The obsession destroys people. It is said by the trans community "How would you feel if YOU were born into *wrong* body?!"
    But the thing is most people don't have the obsession required for disphoria. Not because they were born in the *right* body but because they are more resilient and centered.
    The vast majority of people could suffer a body changing event, the loss of a limb, etc. Only a small fraction would obsess to the point of exhaustion and self destruction.

    To Garrett: I, and so many others, truly appreciate your courage in telling your story with such candor. It is very important to the public discourse about transitioning, and I believe it will help in the sociological efforts to understand how to better serve those who experience confusion or ambiguity about their gender identity. It is a highly complex issue, with many layers, and should not be 'messed with' without careful, gradual considerations. Your case highlights these problem areas perfectly. We are all wishing you the best as you navigate the de-transitioning process, and reclaim your life in a way that feels authentic and comfortable for you. It is wonderful to hear that your parents love and support you to the best of their ability. That familial support can make all the difference in one's life, regardless of the challenges we encounter. Blessings to you for your success and for your happiness as your journey forward 🙏💖🙌☯

    Him describing how he felt when he had breasts is gender dysphoria to a T - he gave himself gender dysphoria by getting those implants (if you've ever been dysphoric about your breasts you'd know what I'm talking about) and despite having that I've never really decided to transition. Living healthily with dysphoria should be an option too and I think the performative gender roles should be more open, boys can like feminine things, girls can like masculine things.
