These are absolute Dream destinations for me, one day you'll look back on these adventures & treasure these memories more than any amount of Gold ..Sail on brother, sail on
James, you have a gift for narration. It feels like you are talking to only me even though I know that I am just one of thousands. I look forward to more of your videos. Fair winds.
Two couples made that walk from Fare harbor and our Jenneau 39 of South Pacific yacht charters in 1984. We hitch hiked back to that hotel Maitai Lapita Village with the floating flowers in the back of a concrete block truck.
you are not only a sailor .you are in my opnion a professior in a live classroom.and i love to listen to you and the musis that comes along now and again..bless you and i always pray for you on your journeys.
I am by no means knocking you when I say I love that 60 year old boat sitting next to all the millionaires toys. You’ve cracked the code, you’re living the life people pay tens of millions of dollars to experience! Congrats!
Just gorgeous. A rare place where animals and man live in harmony, with respect for life. Seeing the horses and the eels having their right to the space. The eels free to just be, that's so special. And the crab, haha. The scenery is just so beautiful, everything about French Polynesia is beautiful - stating the obvious, I know. Merci Sailor James.
Just think how fun it will be for you to watch back these videos 40 years from now. You’re documenting some amazing memories you’ll have for the rest of your life!
WOW😍😍 THIS IS SUCH AN EPIC JOURNEY THAT YOU GRACIOUSLY SHARE WITH ME! YOUR TRIP ON HUAHINE LOOKS RAW AND LUSH❤️ I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THE FIRST HAND VIEW OF WHAT CAPTAIN COOK SAW IN THE SEVENTEEN HUNDREDS... JUST EPIC FOOTAGE OF THESE MOUNTAINS IN THE PACIFIC 😍 I HOPE YOU STAY CLOSE TO HUAHINE, RAIATEA AND BORA BORA AS I CAN'T WAIT TO CALL THESE PRISTINE ISLANDS HOME💎 MEETING YOU IN PERSON THERE WOULD BE SUCH A SPECIAL HONOR TO ME AS THIS JOURNEY OF YOURS IS SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ME, AND CLEARLY GOD IS WITH YOU🌈🌎🛡️ THANKYOU THANKYOU FOR YOUR UNPARALLELED COURAGE STRENGTH AND BEAUTIFUL CHARISMA CAPTURED IN THESE EPIC MEMORIES AND MOMENTS YOU SHARE WITH ME ON YOUR CHANNEL 😍❤️ I HOPE TO ONE DAY MEET YOU FACE TO FACE ON THESE ISLANDS💎💎🌈🌎🛡️💎💎
What a pretty pretty place. Not much to worry about there except eating, mosquitoes & the occasional hurricane.Theres places also in England where horses & ponies live wild. Those lilys were beautiful & I liked the museum, I thought those were earrings in the shells.Ive seen photos of those stones in Scotland & youre right they are in Many other places.I forgot about the eels & thought there had to crocodiles in there. They have nicer faces & mouths than the ones in the Keys, but at 4-5 ft long, I wouldnt be in there just on GP. The scenery is just Stunning, as if waiting for an artist to capture it. Ha! When you said 10 miles, my mouth just Fell Open ! Thank you so much~for the adventuring:)
Great stuff. Wish I was there. That family from Michigan, and UA-camrs, ran their catamaran onto a reef somewhere in the South Pacific. Really tough break, later a local drove a tractor out at low tide and recovered it to turn into a house. Maybe that was it. Pretty cool. As an old carpenter what I really appreciate about the small outriggers is that if I tried making one of those and didn't first learn the precise placement and bracing of all those sticks -- it'd never work. I did make some outriggers for two very narrow kayaks I made. Aluminum poles so nothing too clever. What I found was even leaning to one side bury one of the amas it didn't turn my kayak, and in normal operation you get most of the balance from the extension, like the pole of the tight rope walker -- not from the buoyancy of the ama. So almost no additional drag. Very smart technology.
From what I've gathered from comments on other sailing channels, that catamaran-house is the result of a local removing an eye-sore off the reef and re-purposing it as part of his house. It was a catamaran of a family from the UK that had a navigational error in the middle of the night. They stripped it of anything of value, but left the hull sitting on the reef where it stayed for quite a long time.
Good stuff James.... No matter where one goes there's always chickens 🤣.... Eels were fantastic.... Nice to see that's there's no pollution in the eel River
Really enjoy these walks you do where you show everyone around, absolutely gorgeous views. I’m excited to travel myself in the future. Thanks for the great content..!
I love that if you could somehow communicate what we can do via technology to people from ancient times you’d basically be describing one of their deities.
Hi sailor James thats pretty amazing all those religious stone sites and those sacred eels are huge. I was wondering did you see any snakes on the island ? Take care and thanks for showing us!
A wonderful statement regarding your interest in history and nothing less than 254 years of time travel from Captain Cook's time in relation to your modern photography. Loose horses in the streets are really something, but I think this is not entirely unusual in quite a few parts of the world. Your reflection on ancient standing stone figures around the world is really interesting and there must definitely be some kind of connection. Otherwise, it is interesting how women and the mother figure are so sacred in these parts of the world. I guess it was about survival in relation to small populations. A woman can give birth to many children from different fathers. We see the same phenomenon in Greenland, where it was also about survival with small populations in an enormous sea of ice. In Iceland, they even have their own app on the phone that is used so that you don't date a too close relative that you don't know.
Thank you so much for taking us along on this trip it's been a complete Joy I'm excited each week for your uploads. James you are so much fun to learn from because the passion that you have for what you do translate so well... I thought how very beautiful... It's worth all it takes to get there!!! ✌🏼💗😊🫂
Thank you for providing us with these beautiful and entertaining videos. I had a very bad day with massive head ache. After i bell notification hit i felt much better. Fare well until next time⛵
Awesome land adventure James! It always blows me away to see the diversity of species (flora and fauna) on these islands in the middle of an ocean...and those eels! 🤯So cool! May fair winds be with you brother! 🌬⛵

Hi James, Im pretty sure, well here in NZ anyway, that Marae (meetting house) is pronounced " Ma " "Rye" in English. Chur, and can't wait to see your vids and thoughts on The land of the long white cloud. Aotearoa, NZ.
I saw what I thought was landscaping cloth bound down with rocks as you walked next to the anchorage, is erosion a thing there on the island? Amazing comparative view of the Cook record and your mooring view!
Dude you are living the life. I've got to learn to sail. Just curious. What are your monthly expenses averaging? Love your videos. Keep them coming. I'm tempted to become a patron because I value your videos so much. Fairwinds.
James! Why don't you purchase an EUC, or a One Wheel so that when you arrive at any port, you want have to walk around or hitch hike. This would give you some form of transportation on land. And while you are at sea, your EUC or One Wheel can be charging on your boat!
everything is cool x 5, i get it. i love it but did you say you walked 10 miles there, now you were going to walk 10 miles back, in one day? WOW this life style also keeps you livin healthy,
Eels have some of the most sensitivity to electromagnetic radiation. Sticking phones and cameras in their faces probably disorients them like crazy…cool footage tho.
Hi James, what is it? Water 🐍?😁 Thank you for great content. I wish I could donate something to you. I love your videos, great adventures . I'm without job at the moment so Im skint but I hope I find something after new you and then, when that happens I will be patrion member/ friend from broad🙂 Safe travels my friend
In the Tropics I wear a 1mil (my camo suit) or a 5mil (Patagonia summer suit) for scuba diving I wear a 7mil (scuba pro), I get cold VERY easy so I almost always wear at least a 1mil
@@SailorJames Ok thank you I ordered a 3 mil shorty and planned to pair that with a 5mm long suit for colder water. Do you think that will be sufficient or a 7 really helps? I get cold easily as well do you find yourself in the 7 mil often? Trying to limit the amount of stuff as I prep for this life.
Yes I got a fish burger with fries, it was ok, not great, I usually would have gotten Poisson cru au lait de coco which is amazing and was fun to try on all the different islands because each island has their own style of making it
Come to Thailand bro. I have a permaculture farm in Ang thong ( mangoes, papaya, guavas, jack fruits, lime, etc ..))where you can replenish your supplies of fruits and herbs. I will let you have as much as you want for free.
Yeah totally, Lots of similarities throughout Polynesia and the main reason Captain Cook was able to befriend the Maori warriors with his Tahitian translator
@@SailorJames Yeah I heard about him the Maori are the most fierce. My Cook island mate used to say that Kupu stopped in the Cook Islands on his way down but he was kicked out because he was canable. Don’t know if its true? He reckoned he did a few trips. Must have been an aweaome navigator. It sounds like you have read the Journals of Captain Cook. It was pretty freaky when he arrived in Auckland was to scared to land during the day. He had to sneak ashore with the Tahitian fella at night because all the tribes were in a state of war. My cousins are up your way, my uncle Mo is and some of my cousins are Ngapui tribe.. Catch some snapper bro!
As a Polynesian man...I love watching your videos as I sit here in Utah in this 20 degree weather 🥶😭😂 keep'em coming and safe travels brother! 🙏🏽🤙🏽
I loved the Captain Cook image comparison. Very thought provoking of what the island and the local's living there was like at that time.

Hello James those " Marae" sites are mentioned in a book titled "Pathway of the Birds" about early polynesian exploration using wayfinding navigation

We have a lot of marae here in New Zealand it's a place of meeting and is very sacred and it's an identity for us maori

In Polynesian there are never two consonants in a syllable as in Ho No Lu Lu not Hon I lulu no matter the word size. So Fa Re is right.
