A lot of great series were given a start in What-A-Cartoon! Show. Even the cartoons that didn’t go past the pilot were funny and memorable. And let’s not forget the early seasons of Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast. According to john r dilworth originally the pilot was gonna be black and white like homege to the black and white horrors films. Eustace originally had a double barrel shotgun and he would shoot courage to scare him off. But the network rejected it and thats how they came up with the bogaga mask
I just discovered today in 2021 that one of my childhood favorite shows was produced in 95’. Holy crap I feel old. The pilot was amazingly done and contributed towards the storyline
Three years before I was born. But yeah, this pilot was one of many episodes that haunted my dreams as a kid. But I still watched Courage nonetheless because I found it to be a horror show I could actually stand unlike the bloodbaths and dismemberments of Stephen King movies. *(shudder)*
Out of all Courage episodes, i never thought i'd actually seen the original early work of Chicken from Outer Space. It's like a goldmine of cartoon classics! Now we know how did that headless fried chicken returned back in later episodes. o.o

First time I saw this was on a VCR tape that was Scooby Doo and The Witch's Ghost, after the credits, this played and I enjoyed it as a kid the first time watching it.
If you pause on 4:28 there's statues on the green shelves. You see a ufo,raisin from "smart talk with raisin", dirty birdy and furgerina from "dirty birdy", and Nedd from "Noodles and Nedd". The blue character next to Raisin is "Sparkles" from a unrealized project John tried to get funded. John dilworth likes to refer Nedd as "Dilly" because Nedd is a caricature of John r dilworth himself. Nedd appears in a portait on the wall of the staircase in every courage episode. Theres a picture of Nedd with a flower coming out of his Butt as a reference to the "Dirty birdy" short film.
If anyone can pause around 3:303:31 when courage blows up the hen house on the bottom left of the screen there's a hidden image of a heart and arrow with the J.D and V.J. which means John r Dilworth and his girlfriend. But you can't really see it because of the quality of the video

This pilot scared the hell out of me as a child....the transformation scene was way too creepy, the eggs disgusting looking...back in the '90s there was a UFO-sighting craze and I was deeply terrified of them (and of the chupacabras lol)

I love how minimalist this is, there's virtually no dialogue in this short, it's almost surreal to think it became a series based on this.

What I love most about this pilote are the mindless duels of Courage and the chicken XD
Eustace ussually gets transformed into weird stuff or loses his physical form, but in the very first episode he gets off'd from existence.

Courages voice sounds too high class
Whereas I feel the opposite. Having seen the pilot first and later the series, I always found his series voice a bit "off".
The Spanish dub voice of courage from this episode was more high pitched, like an adult imitating a child.
It kinda pisses me off that this wasn't in any of the season releases OR the re-release. I've always loved this short.
