Viper my good man, that was great! Put my first Skin together and i'm about it to publish it. Thank you so much. Now i'm angry at myself why i didn't try to make skins earlier...
Amazing tutorial. I will start making skins for me and my son. DO I have to publish them if I make it just for personal use, not for sale? Also do they need to be accepted if made only for personal use? Thanks again. Your videos may seem long, but they are packed with so much info, that I had to pause and replay every step.
Thank you very much for your nice words! Regarding using your skins in game, you have to publish your skins AND your skins have to be accepted by Valve. If your skin gets accepted then Valve will add your skin to something called a skin case and only then your skin may be purchased. But keep in mind that the competition for getting your skin accepted is extremely strong. I've been trying to get my skins accepted for 4 years and i still don't have any accepted yet!
I used OBS, Window built in Recorder and GeForce. By far the Image Quality and frame Pacing is superior using GeForce, Alt +Z, no choppy frames at 60 even in 4k.
i made a nova skin aswell, it is called nova pixelwhite this tutorial was pretty helpful, just note that you got to make your videos shorter, this is amazing viper,i have noticed that your nova relic skin havent been accepted yet, hopefully it will
Thank you very much for your nice words, I'm glad my tutorial was helpful :) Regarding the length of my videos trust me I try my best to keep them as short as possible. However I also try to include as much information as possible to avoid any confusions and to make sure everything is as clear as possible. Having said that, point taken! I'll keep that in mind for my future videos and will try harder to make the videos shorter ;)
You can achieve that through ezgif by using the crop and optimize tools. Also try and make your gifs as short as possible. The longer the gif the bigger in size it is
Thanks for amazing tutorials man, they was very helpful :) just submitted my first skin now waiting for review Just one question - how did you made inspect window full screen? Or it just cropped to fit the screen?
My pleasure man.... Best of luck with your skin creation journey! As for your question it's easy, in the game itself go to Settings -> Video and set the resolution to be your monitor's resolution
thank you for your videos... you inspire me everyday to improve, I've been having trouble with making a pattern based skin i was wondering if there is a way to make a custom wear pattern for a pattern skin.
Thank you for your nice words! Regarding your question, in the 3rd part I talk briefly about the alpha channel. If you want a specific pattern for your wear then you need to apply this pattern in the alpha channel as well. Also, you need to use a style that supports the use of alpha channel. The ones that are relevant to patterns are the Hydrographic and Anodized Multicolor styles (If you use Spray-paint or Anodized Airbrush it won't work)
Thank you for your work, great series. Could you please help me a little, when checking colors, my gun is flashing purple, i get that blue is too dark and pink is too bright, but what is purple? The part that flashing is metalic in gunsmith mode.
Yes you can, although i don't think it's a good idea. Sometimes you would want to make a 2nd version of your skin and you might want to build on the previous one. If you're suffering from lack of disk space then copy the files to an external disk or back them up in the cloud
Your videos are super helpful, however believe CS2 workshop has limited AMD GPUS, I recieve compling issue every single time i try to preview/inspect the final product, I was wondering if i could send you my Blend file and see if it works for you or if there is an obvious mistake. Made it through the whole building series for it to fail at the workshop step
Read the error you receive thoroughly. Recently I got an error due to a missing tga file not related to my skin (I created a blank tga file with the same name mentioned in the error and that fixed my issue). Sometimes the failure is due to a temporary issue that can be resolved by restarting the game (Or the computer). So again read the error and see what exactly it's complaining about. As for GPU issues, I believe that if you're able to run the CS2 game then you should be able to inspect your items
@@viperskins Appreciate the quick response! I reached out on Twitter as well to share screenshots of the error, as well as explain more. I think there really is nothing to fix the issue, as it seems to be occurring in the latest update :(
nice video and tutorials ! thank you now im publish my first two skins , however i notice that the cover image i do for my skin is like low quality (?) i took the screen of my weapon with the green screen of cs2 workshop and then i edited on gimp giving a good background but the entire image on the workshop results strange , maybe there is a px to respect for this ?
Thank you for the nice words :) Regarding your thumbnail, does it look good in GIMP but bad in the workshop? And does it look low quality even as a thumbnail (The small version with the rest of the submissions)? In general I advise against using a thumbnail from a screenshot taken in-game, unless it's a pattern skin that's hard to be viewed in Blender. But in general what makes an image look low quality is if it was scaled up or down too much
@@viperskins yeah in GIMP Its look very pretty nice then i uploads on the workshop as a thumbnail and the quality drop , anyway thank you ! I use a screen because i create a "Little file mistake" with Blender but i think i can recover the skin
Hey man, very helpful video. Being playing with skins for a while but now I'm thinkiing about submitting one and this came right on time. Question, do you know if(how) is possible to make skins for knives and gloves? Thanks!
My pleasure man. I'm happy you found my tutorial useful :) Regarding knives and gloves, technically it's possible to create skins for them (Never tried it myself but i've seen in the past others do skins for knives), but TBH i don't know where you can get the OBJs and UVs (Never looked for them). The thing is that even if you make skins for knives and gloves, currently Valve does NOT accept community skins for them. Currently they only accept skins for guns. So i suggest that you don't bother too much with it until Valve announces otherwise
Hi Viper, I take a look at some skins in the workshop, some descriptions say that there are updated skins, can I update one of my skin if I improve it? if it is possible, how can I update the skin?
Yup. This is not the friendliest community! I also get many negative reviews. Let's hope that Valve mean it when they say they don't rely on the voting system too much
If all of your maps are good then I suggest you check the game graphic settings. But before that do check the UV maps. It's not just the Alebdo that can cause issues. If there are some random pixels in the normal, roughness or AO maps then they can cause some issues. Are you seeing the pixels all around the weapon or in specific places? If it's in specific places then it might be due to your maps or an issue in the model (I saw that some models have small issues like the Sawed-Off). If the entire skin looks pixelated then maybe check the game settings
@@viperskins My textures are all good, some areas get pixelated, coz the engine won't display 4k textures. It gets downsampled everytime. Is it normal for the engine to downsample the textures all the time??
i did find a problem tho for my nova skin,it says i need to fill in billing informations before posting it to public, and i honestly dont know what to do here !
Yeah I haven't included this in the tutorial. I think i'll create a video about it some time soon. In the meantime what you need to do is: 1. Fill your bank account information. There are some details that you might need to ask your bank about, such as the SWIFT number of your account. 2. Fill some tax form (Or as they call it Tax Interview). Quite frankly I'm not an expert on the matter but if i remember correctly it is somewhat straight forward (Though a bit confusing). If you're an American citizen then your life will be easier, otherwise you will need an ITIN number (Which is equivalent to the American Social Security Number). If you have it then just put it. If not then simply say that you don't have one. I STRONGLY suggest that you read about ITINs when hopefully one of your skins make it. Then you can submit a request to get one, which will then get you tax deductions
