Personally for me I've always wanted to learn how to use blender to make better looking skins, I've had it downloaded for the longest time but never made the step to actually learn how to use it. Better late than never.

Thank you so much for such an informative video!! please tell me, is there any way to download a scan for separate coloring of parts and then just upload it back to the blender? for example, if you want to make "full-fledged art" on the scan, and not just paint over the details with color, is it possible to import the scan into any 2d drawing program?

Bro what does publish failure: error code 2 mean. I keep getting that but my skins are getting published but the publish is empty (file size is 0.000b and there is no thumbnail or name to it)

But for starters how do you add a image file onto the skin? Like surely you can do the artwork on proper drawing software and port the image to the skin right?
Yeah, definitely. you can draw in any software and add the image the same way we did in this video. Instead of our texture we just select the file we want to use

I was just browsing some skins and randomly came across my mind "What if I just make a my own skin", then the quote "If it was easy, everyone would have done it." instantly slapped me in the head. lol
Making skins is easy. Now, making good skins, thats a problem...

It doesn't work for me, I use blender to export as a TGA and when I open my skin in the workshop it doesn't look like it did in blender
my skin doesn't come up, everything loads up find but when i go to preview my skin it doesn't show my skin that I made in blender

Quick tip, you do not need VTF Editor as Blender can directly export to TGA Format.

You can download the texture files for a skin by going to karambit.gg
There you can input the inspect link of the skin you want to port.

Im new to cs2 skin making, my skin shows up metallic for some reason, like chrome shiny, is there a reason for this? Was it because of the gunsmith folder option? Many thanks!

Hi, Great video! However I have encountered a problem. When I project an image (illustration) to the mesh, it looks good in Blender and the texture is fine. I export it as a targa and when it comes into CS2, it looks pixelated and there are blocky artifacts. I also tried Substance Painter and the same thing is happening. I don't know what's causing it. I'm using 4k texture resolution for custom paint job and gunsmith. If you know what I'm doing wrong and have a solution, please let me know. Thank you! 🙏

They might not downscale the images so, try down scaling the texture to 2048x2048 and see if it fixes!
@@whozproxyDoesn't work unfortunately. I see people using 4k and have no problems so there must be something wrong with my targa export settings.

For drawing check some blender tutorials.
Don't forget to select material that you have created in 'material' tab (lower righ Earth like icon), than in UV editor at top of the window choose your skin, in edit mod select all and than head to "texture painting".
I hope this helps a little. It's hard to explain without video.
But you should check some blender youtubers like " Ryan King" and "Blender guru". They have plenty of begginer and advanced blender tutorials. They are the best and most of the things that i have learend, enough to make my own models and publish at Unity and Unreal marketplace.
Can't wait to try this skin editing and to publish my own skins and to play woth them in CS2 finally 😊

No, unfortunately not. You can only use skins that are accepted into a collection.
If i make a skin , can i play with it directly or i have wait for cs to accept it and sell it ?
Unfortunately you cannot play with a skin that is not officially in the game. So, You'd need to hope it gets accepted :)
on 2:00 when u select the skin on editing mode and the pieces go on the texture so that u can see what u paint your pieces all go inside the square, mine go over the edges so that i cant paint them so what should i do?
Did you set the size of the texture correctly? When you have selected all the pieces you can use 'S' to scale them.
yeah i put the image at 2048x2048 it seems to just go over the image even if i scale it to 10000x10000@@KnotsCS2
and even if i scale the weapon down it doesnt change anything on the image side@@KnotsCS2

You should probably unpack it first. What do you want to import? A 3d model or a texture?

but how you create a uv map that "matches" with the default uv map from cs2 weapon geometry? when I bake the texture and test in cs2, it always looks chaotic. :(
