How to Tame Pyromane and Abilities Explained! | ARK: The Center Ascended

I did miss something! I went back to play with my pyromane after editing, and found cooked meat in its inventory. Jerky too? Looks like this thing is a slow cooker!

Thats a lot of abilities on one creature, I loved shadows and super bred them so much i think if i calculated how many fert eggs ive hatched for a single creature the shadows would be the highest. even though comparitively they are one of the newer creatures in ASE

Good Video but there are a few things that all inaccurate. For those of us watching to understand how to properly tame pyromanes, or effectively tame them I'd like to give you a few tips! (This video was fun to watch and had great demostration of other features, this isn't meant to be offensive or an attack, just informative :)
1. Taming Progress is "NOT" based on the amount of kills, it is based on "Flame Absorbpation" which is an ability you can perform when riding him. In short if you look at the time stamp 3:13 of this video you will see that when attacking an enemy there is an bar above that enemie's name. Once that bar has "ANY" amount of progress you can use Flame Absorb (as long as it is not on cooldown, when it is lit green as in the time stamp 3:13 the icon located above the progress bar then you know it is off cooldown) which will raise your taming progress. The key is "NOT" kills, it is about using flame absorb as much as possible in order to finish taming. Remember! This ability cannot be used while the pyro is wet or unlit.
2. What to kill for better taming effectiveness? You could get 100% taming effectiveness without killing anything at all. This is why a lot of people attack turtles, because the pyros attacks tend to keep hitting the shell which means it takes awhile to kill them, 3-4 turtles has tamed me multiple 150s now on official settings. If you could a find a wild bronto or rex, that would work too! If it can survive longer against your attacks then you get to use flame absorb more often without needing to look for new pray. (Can always lure some creatures together before riding him, he can also be trapped on a boat and moved.)
3. I don't want to fight bigger wild creatures because I don't want to risk him after hurting him. That is a common statement but his flame absorb actually heals him for a decent amount. So the more you spawm it the more your keep recovering, this is true during taming and after.
4. Please understand the cooldown for Flame Absorb is MUCH shorter when riding the pyro to tame it. As Toast perfectly stated, it is a little lengther when it is tamed and all yours, but when your riding it to tame it, it is a MUCH shorter cooldown!
5. CONTROLS!!! this has caused some confusion and issues at times. The controls for mouse and keyboard are Cntrl+Left Click (I think because I'm a controller user! lol) for Controller it is Right bumper and Left trigger, although it will display it as "Right Bumper + Left Trigger" these are NOT!!!! at the same time. If on control you MUST hit right bumper FIRST!! and then left trigger, for keyboard you must hit and hold CONTROL first and then left click while holding control!
I really hope this helps those of you who struggled or may have been confused as I was!

I was mad with myself as soon as I made this video. After talking to some friends, I decided to veer away from my usual approach of taking my time, to try and get videos out quickly, as soon as The Center released. Being first has a lot of benefits it would appear. This was how everything seemed after an hour or so of testing, but I realised there was more to it, as soon as I went back into the game. I guess the good news is, and the lesson learned, is I'd rather take my time and get things right, than rush and get them wrong, even if the videos doesn't perform as well! 😅

@@toastbloke I completely understand! I think with what you realized in the amount of time you released it was helpful to those who had zero idea or clue though! Also perhaps just changing the perspective with a little word play such as renaming the video to something like Pyromane First Look! and then updating the video later on with a second half, keeping that in mind as you make the video your be able to word and pace yourself in a way to allow you to update it later, more easily and without needing to redo a lot. Or even adding a section that explains that this is your first 24h of release experiment and encourage the commentators to put their thoughts and advice in the comments, it allows the viewers to do the updating for you and also shows how much amazing information you found in the first 24h, makes you look professional and opens the door for growth!

Honestly, I was so happy about the fuel ability! It's not one I expected, but it feels like one of the bigger game changers. There's loads of cool creatures to come that have different ways of doing to same things, but things like this are really unique!

Yes, I love the shoulder pet version! It's a bit OP for a paid DLC when it comes to PvP, but it is a really cool creature design!

Haha! The burnt bottom would be real! Especially wearing all that flak! Apparently this cat's magic though and can regulate the temperature of fire in every which way. I guess that's what makes it a 'cool' creature though!

Things are getting crazy for sure! If transfers to all maps are allowed, and maybe even spawns on other maps with hot/lava biomes, the balance of the game is changed for ever for sure. I think we knew that was the case early with ASA though with some of the things going on. This is why I play PvE currently. PvP hasn't interested me at all since leaving ASE 😅

You can just absorb flame to reset timer. Don't have to kill. And it also heals the pyromane when you absorb. So you can tank high level rex and just keep healing

You can indeed! Sadly, I can't update videos once they're out and this was only my second tangle with a Pyromane. There's a few extra features I didn't catch. It's annoying, 'cause I like the be thorough, but you've got to be quick too! 😅

i have a couple of questions , - when you flame boost , does it boost the cooking rate on a cook pot etc. - when your in lava does it boost your fire bar? or can uyou boost from a lava source?

Interesting thought! I have no idea currently though, sorry! I just went though everything I could see in front of me before moving on. Gutted I missed the cooked meat until afterwards too! First time trying to quickly work out a tame on a launch, so big learning experience!

It said something is the dossier that suggested this, so I was trying to interact with it! I thought it would be like drinking or harvesting! Do you literally just stand in it and get a buff? I might not have been injured or in gcm when I was trying. No wonder I couldn't see anything! 🤣 Thanks Leeloo!

Which ones did I miss? I feel like the flamethrower ability was pretty basic/obvious, and didn't use it until later in the video, so I just cut it out to keep things in order! 😂

I've been looking into this, and I don't have the same issue, so I'm not sure how to help. Mine seems to just gain food when there is raw meat in it's inventory. It's food bar just starts flying up as soon as it is in there. Do you have any of it's abilities enabled when this is happening?

The goes through food fast 1,2, or 3 and/or how many structures are using the Pyro as fuel affect its food. Off doesn't eat much level 3 range

Yeah, that unlimited fuel source isn’t quite as unlimited as it first seemed is it! Daily meat runs it is! 😂

For me, I just picked it up, tried to eat it to see if it acted like poly or anything and my guy just threw it. Thought about putting it in a fire or something, but never got around to it. Seemed unlikely it had a use, but would be cool to find one! Planning to tame one soon, so I'll get to play around with them a little more then. If I find anything, I'll share!
