- Ukrainian soldiers storm Russian-held 'Cyclops' trench in terrifying assault footage near Bakhmut: The K2 Battalion ( / @k2_bat ) of the 54th Mechanised Brigade posted this video of their infantry assault on a Russian trench called 'Cyclops' near the city of Bakhmut. An earlier part of the video shows Russian troops being bombarded by artillery. In this video posted in April Ukrainian drone pilots drop bombs on the trench before infantry launch an assault. The fighting is believed to have taken place earlier this year, before Ukrainian forces lost much of the city.

Drones are really a game changers, having an eye everywhere and direct visibility for officers is insane. You would win over anyone that doesn't have drones even with 10 times fewer resources.

Looking at satellite images, you can literally count the craters that hundreds of artillery shells had made

And I find it hard to believe that this drone didn't pass on information gathered during it's reconnaissance.
So no they weren't lucky it was all clearly planned..

I see too many of these to think they are lucky shots. At first you think they missed the trench when the grenade hits the side, but bouncing a grenade off the side of the trench into the bunker is next level stuff.

Agreed. Ive been saying asking that myself. Tanks and armor out in the middle of no where, farm fields. Not sure that a tank is meant to hold or defend wheat fields. They usually are blown to pieces, anyways, You would think the lessons learned book would be 3 ft thick for orcs by now, but apparently no one is taking notes.

Its not the greatest position but in a frontline it makes sence, things arent often by the book especially with russians.
And probably one of the most crucial part at this point it has a railway to the side of it, whoever controls it could theoreticly get supplied by it or disrupte their supply, (but tbh using a train that close to the front is suicide so theres that).

More similar to WW2. Outside of Germans quick early year blitzkrieg victories WW2 was fought in defensive trenches and bunkers spread out similar to this. WW1 is defined by trench warfare but a different style. WW1 was just mass infantry millions of men concentrated in line warfare.

There are clearly some very bored out of work video editors in Ukraine. I think the sound effects weren't necessary but kind of cool. Amazing footage.
This is what happens when you put under trained and under equipped conscripts in trenches, they can do nothing but wait to die or surrender.
And mean while they also have no support and are running out of ammo and food.
@@Don_ECHOguy well it is the Russian way of fighting, since they have so much manpower to throw around they put down units of poorly trained and equiped men to make enemy "waste" their ammo and to give their positions away to the more highly trained units. If you play Warhammer, it's literally how Skaven (A Rat race) plays.
But Ukraine lost most of the city.
