Ukrainian soldiers later appear and successfully capture the tactical point.

Yup, Pootler advanced Ukraine's timetable into both the EU and NATO, most likely, AND added two first world nations to NATO, rather than one third world nation that would likely not have joined for at least a decade. Absolutely correct but one clarification NATO wasn’t looking to expand but when the neighboring countries realized how Putin could/would invade their countries they asked to join NATO. They know that they can’t stand by themselves against Putin and why should they.

The 'might find disturbing' warning was not nearly enough to prepare me for the horror of seeing that tree being so brutally knocked down by the shot from the tank. They pixellated it but not for long enough to hide it at least until it was motionless on the ground.
I also feel sorry for the trees there...
Reminds me of WWII Bastone. They hated those trees turning to toothpicks.

The Russians wished they had Javelins
No they weren't. The trench warfare from mountains to sea was a new thing, and the Allies didn't know how to deal with the scope of the defensive positions.
They developed the tank to break THROUGH and lead infantry into the area behind the trenches, so they could go back to moving armies around.
They couldn't get out of the mindset of "Maneuver" being the art of winning wars. They were doing the thing Commanding Generals always do, fighting the previous war over again.

@@Waverox Yes, that was my point. They were built to totally defeat the trench system that had stalemated the war. Drives through the artillery without harm, crosses wire without stopping, * bridges the trench and crosses the next trench too.
The idea was they did that, the infantry followed up, and there was an army behind the enemy trench, which meant the trench system would have been broken.
Brings a whole new meaning the the words 'the trench was overrun...'

If you watch from 15 feet away, the pixels are not so much of a problem, depending on your eyesight.
I listened to the battalion commander's interview about this operation. There, the tank ran out of ammunition and the tank commander decided to check the trenches with tracks. Because there was a group of infantry approaching and he didn't want any of his soldiers to die. Because there were risks that there was still a living enemy in the trenches.
The decision was risky, because it could get stuck due to the soft ground.
We had places like that in Hohenfels that would grab the track over and over. Practice makes perfect. Let's try it again boys. GERKIN

The tank ran out of ammo at the end but the mission wasn't done yet, so the tank had to run over the trenches to crush the remaining soldiers. Later the infantry came to check the place and found one remaining russian which they captured. Rest were left as a landfill....

I'd think I'd try to run, better than being blasted at point blank range and then buried. Although it's easy to say from my comfortable computer chair.
Just a glimpse of what war on the ground (in reality) means and yes, its way brutal and soul crushing as shown here. Keep your leaders in check and control, becuase they will make the descisions for you and your childrens/family/friends will be suffering and your leaders will be sittings in luxury stating "I am sorry for your loses".

If the shell doesn't hit inside the trench it just buries it self in the dirt. You get concussed but not dead. A spinning track will do it though.

This does not violate the laws of land warfare. The Russians were not medics, they were not trying to surrender, and they were not shielded by civilian bystanders or occupied culturally significant landmark or religious building.

I will tell you that the tank ran out of shells, and the tank driver dreamed of driving the tank over the Russians, he was allowed to do it. + in the trenches there were still alive soldiers of the Russian Federation - chvk Wagner - after 10 hours they dug out one convict from Wagner who was taken prisoner, there is a video of the vialog - where he was asked if he liked the work of the VSU = Great. And I will remind foreigners that Russians have this in mind - who attacks Ukraine and has Russian citizenship, 50% of all speak Russian, some of them are ethnic Russians, but they are citizens of Ukraine who are fighting to protect Ukraine.

Such recordings show how brutal war is. Russia made a tragic mistake by attacking Ukraine. All conflicts could be resolved peacefully, and Russia had more tools to do so... but it chose war.

This appears to be the same location of earlier videos, where the trenches were held by UKR. The banked rectangular area is the key feature to recognize. Were the trenches overrun by Russia?
Yes. UKR trench held by 4 soldiers, overrun by 28-30 Russians. Several UA tanks came across the fields to the rescue as the roads were heavily mined. The video begins.

Seems like a strange idea when you're back in the trench but you know you're lying on top of dead bodies.
On their channel they said that they captured a solo survivor out of 30 a day later.
They captured one hiding still in that trench. They build a hole where they live. he was there the whole time, when tank was flattening these trenches. Later soldiers arrived and captured him.
He was actually trapped under ground for 20+ hours and was captured, rest of the group was crushed.

I kinda get a feeling that tank's turret rotation mechanism is slightly on the fritz, given that whole sequence where the gun barrel goes left and right jerkily and stops without pointing where one would think it should be pointing. The tank itself also seems to go very much stop/start in the full video, frequently pausing where one would think they shouldn't be hanging around but getting on with it, given that they were attracting rocket fire.
It was supposed to be an invitation to surrender.

True, Challenger and Abrams proved their worth in Iraq. If it is true, Putin is now bringing in the T55's, a tank from the 1950s. Modern computer engineering will be against old mechanical engineering. Plus the T55's armour is 200mm thick compared to modern challenger 700mm. Timeline wise Russian tanks are closer to 'Little Willie' of 1915, then they are to modern western tanks of today.

I was taught to straddle the trench and then do a 360° rotation. The walls collapse by themselves. Then move along a bit and repeat. We did that to flatten them after an exercise.

Well, if everything could be composted your question would be interesting. Unfortunately, they all got stuff that is not biodegradable and will poison the field for the near future. Look up "Zone Rouge" on the Western Front, WW1. Hundred years later and it may not be entered cause it is too dangerous.
