Nice! I successfully installed the Furitek system in my FCX24 K5 last night, and got the same thing where the binding light still flashes on the tx, yet everything works great. I guess it is what it is. I found throttle calibration worked only through the app. it came with latest firmware updated at V2.16, so no update was needed. I also found at high gear if you let up off the throttle too quick, it would nose flip. I added 28g of steel weights on the back and that tamed it. Upgraded all gears and driveshaft to metal. I was lucky enough to get the Furitek on sale for $119 I think…so sales do happen.
Yes the camer shell was removable on k5 from 73-91 models. 73-75 was a removable convertible top. From 76-91 it had the half-cab or just camper on rear removable. Cool upgrades makes it even more realistic now!
Great video, thank you! I got a couple of these and ordered some spare bodies to paint my own sheme on and I have converted my smasher to a crawler now. I am loving the fcx24 platform! I am realizing I haven't messed with my trx4m a single time since these k5s arrived. Keep up the great work, all kinds of great info in this one!
Hey Adam, thanks for the videos you put out, they’re entertaining, informative and have helped me a GREAT deal with my scx24 and fcx24 builds. I just installed this Furitek kit in my V2 K5 and my transmitter is also flashing green after binding. Everything works except my headlight on/off. Any idea how to stop the green flash and get the headlights to switch on/off from the transmitter? Thank you in advance!
Hey man, great video as always! Question.. is there another remote that will work with this combo? My remote got the twitch of death and after recalibration it still has it. Just wondering if you know of another option without having to get a replacement stock remote. Or if id have to get a remote and receiver.. Thanks in advance!
Are you planning on covering the FMS 1/6 Jimny any more? I would love to see how to handle the leaf spring flip as well as fitting bigger wheels and tires. Love the videos, thanks! :)
Great video. It would be fantastic, if you could do a high gear speed comparison (stock motor vs furitek brushless). Should still be slower than the FMS highspeed motor? Greetings from Germany
Geeezuss you're a genius. Wow I've been thinking 🤔 of buying an fms fcx24 Chevy k5 I'm still stuck with my Trx4m's But I can't buy an FMS one of these days.
Thanks for posting about this kit. Its quite impressive. I agree its so amazing and versatile. Any idea if this kit would fit the new hobbyplus evo's? there's supposed to be comparative and internals just about the same no?
The transmission is different on the Evo than on the FCX24 so I don't think your motor would mount up properly. The electronics would work but you would have to change the pinion and motor mount I believe.
i can see them coming out with a brushless plug and play for the SCX since the tx/rx combos are sourced from the same place as FMS (my new 1/6th jimny uses the same transmitter body as my v1 jlu). Traxxas? who knows. I highly doubt that'll ever happen. They think they're Apple over in McKinney. great looking rig! How does it compare to a trx4m defender in size?
Thanks for watching! it's very similar in size to the Defender. Wheelbase is a bit shorter if I remember correctly, but the body is very similarly sized.
It’s just more fun. If you want to get serious about performance brushless is the way to go. The slow crawl it provides is beyond what any brushed system can ever provide, and you get lots more top end power to boot. But getting back to the fact that it is a toy, it’s just extremely fun to throw more power at it 😁
The fun factor of it and the extended play you can have in terms of poking around with installing something new, testing and comparing to how it was, reverting back, etc. Kits like this just extend the lifetime replay kinda like a game that just got a new patch and transforms the feel of the game.
@@CapeCrawlers ah man I thought you would’ve for sure had one. I got mine built I want to see how you arrange the electronics. Good luck on the restock
@@stefan-norge the motor and esc does NOT work with the stock receiver. You have to use the furitek receiver that comes with. The Stock remote will bind to the included RX furitek provides with the system.
What do you mean on the Power Wagon you just put the fury Tech in there micro Komodo bolts right up I left the two speed in mine I didn't switch to the scx24 transmission and then I put AgF Servo in their customized the servo horn and then I used a piece of wire and made it just like the other pieces on there and then put it on a different switch I could send you a little short clip on how I done mine if you would like it is a absolute monster one thing I don't like about the Power Wagon I stretched it and slammed it sort of like yours is I feel like RC four-wheel drive links or to long I think it's who makes that extension I think it is too long I'm going to cut them down re-drill them and shorten it up some and their driveshaft is not that great
Not as is I don't believe. It's designed specifically for the FCX24. I did not try to bind a scx24 radio to the new receiver to see if it worked or not.

As a beginner myself, if they bring out a similar plug and play for the SCX24 it will be an immediate purchase!
They do make PNP for SCX24 now! 😀
@@hobbycow5346Awesome thanks!
Great upgrades. Your black K5 looks so good now. I need one but already have 2 of those orange and brown 😅
I really hope they come out with that same kit for the scx24 that’s a world of difference! Love the scale aesthetics as well!
the SCX24 has had full systems for years. As long as you have a v1 or v3 remote, you are good to drop in an esc and motor.
Awesome video Adam 👍😁

Find you always gotta throygh some weight on the front
Great video! And great kit! Are you running the overdrive portal gears in the front on this setup?
Thanks for watching! No OD gears yet
Love the Chevy Blazer!

If there’s interest in me covering it, sure! I actually just completed the axle flip yesterday. This thing is jacked now!
Any way possible to install an engine noise box? Are there any made for mini scale? Would be amazing!
Beautiful

What are some good battery options for this setup?
What wheels are those on the blazer? Look great, and the original spare doesn't look out of place

Hey @CapeCrawlers did you ever figure out the flashing light on the stock transmitter?

Love the blazer. Very fun truck!
Dang that’s so easy to install
more fcx24 videos!
Are you running foams or vented tires? I want mine to squish like that.
The foams that came with these are very soft. I did not vent the tires or the wheels, they're just very squishy!
would this work on the smasher v2?
Very cool 👍🏻😃
i want one of these fcx k5... find it funny tho people are selling 3d printed parts. when 3d printed parts are
working prototype quality

AWESOME....KICKASS SEABASS.. BEST VIDEO NOW..........ARE you aware of steering dampen 24 scale products?
Thanks! No, I haven't seen those products
I really like my Blazer. I just wish there was not so much slack in the drive train.
Ok now where did I put my furitek motor from Christmas
Hi! Is the pinion gear on the Komodo motor metal? Also will this kit fit the Fcx24 power wagon? Thanks!
Yes it is metal and it will indeed fit the power wagon
Can I use that setup in my k10 chevy pickup truck crawler from FMS??
Does that use the same radio as the FCX24? The motor mount and pinion are likely going to be different on the K10
How’d you get your binding light to quit blinking ?
I didn’t, it’s still blinking away
Put the furitek chassis on it
What's the advantage of installing brushless motor in place of original motor ? It is only a 1/24 toy, is it really necessary ?

Hi Adam, great review. Does the motor & ESC also work with the stock receiver? Thanks, Stefan
Yes it does. It binds with the stock radio and retains all of the stock functionality.
@@CapeCrawlers Is there a reason why you also changed the receiver eventhough the stock would also work?
@@stefan-norge the motor and esc does NOT work with the stock receiver. You have to use the furitek receiver that comes with. The Stock remote will bind to the included RX furitek provides with the system.
@@TheShopMiniRC Thanks for this information 👍🏻
Hey man seen your boy with drift wheels how did you find them with the correct hex
The hex is the right size but you have to drill out the center hole to make it big enough for the fcx24
Will a v2 axial radio bind to the receiver it comes with ?
I didn't try it but now I'm curious to do so!

Maybe check out the mcCue RC links? For the power wagon
If you've got a video demonstrating how you did the 2-speed, I would love to see it. My power wagon is still currently just running one gear.
Where can i get the drift wheels?
SKP Engineering on Etsy
Thank you 👌
How long does the battery last?
I would say ~30 minutes. I like to run the bigger 600MAH batteries from FMS and that adds significant time.
So can this hook into an SCX24 & TRX4M??
