- I am so excited to have finally gotten a chicken box! I was able to get a 54+ lb. box of whole chickens for only $20, AND a few more grocery deals at my discount store this week. Come see what I got and I will also show you a little of how I package up the chicken in the box.

Wow! What a deal! 12 whole chickens for $20! Best deal of the year!
I went in today and they were $10 a box 🤯 I didn’t have time to process them and I knew they were so low because they were getting close to the sell by date. But if I had had time, I would have probably gotten at least 100lbs at that price!
I have been sick with COVID, but the upside has been catching up on your videos! Thanks for keeping me company in quarantine. 🙂

When you are using bleach and water for sanitizing surfaces use cool water instead of hot. Heat (and age) will cause bleach to break down and not be as effective to kill germs.
I thought of that when she mentioned "very hot water". Bleach isn't nearly as effective in hot water, cold water is the way to go.

You can cook several of the chickens up at one time and then pick the meat off the bones and shred. Then pressure can or freeze for soups, sandwiches, etc. That would gain you a lot more variety! (All those bones would make great broth too!)
When it was more than just my husband and I, I probably would’ve done that. I’ve got a system that works for us now, though. I usually just do one chicken at a time take the meat off use it for several days and make broth at the same time. Since I work, it’s easy to do it in the crockpot.

When whole chickens are on sale I buy several and cut them up. It is not difficult and practice makes perfect. That way I can make different kinds of meals. I use the backs, wings and necks to make broth.
I usually butcher chickens twice a year, so I’m totally comfortable cutting them up. It’s just practical for me to have whole chickens since I don’t have any. In fact, they sell cut up chicken boxes as well. I chose the whole chicken box.
@@TheBealles I recall you doing that at another UA-camrs homestead. That was an fantastic deal you got on the chickens. I used to be able to get whole chickens for 99 cents a pound at Walmart. They have gone up to $1.34 per pound if you buy a two pack. The brand Walmart has here in Utah is Foster Farms, which is a good brand with nothing added to them.

Wow, what an incredible blessing to snag a dozen whole chickens for $20!!! I so wish we had a discount grocery store in my area (south FL), but no, the best I can do is snag BOGOs and occasionally clearance meat items.
Sometimes that’s the best I can do, too. It is a great blessing, though, when I can find the deal❤️

That was great deal on chicken thanks for sharing. You would not believe what my local church pantry gave us. 5 packs of impossible sausages, two turkey sausages, a few ground meats and two packs of boneless chicken and two packs of Italian styled chicken.

I am paying $1.19/ Avocado - I eat 1/2 of one every morning with Cottage Cheese, Banana and Salsa yum so I would love love to find them for $.50 a piece. And, I wanted 1 apple yesterday for a meal with pork if I had known how high it would be I would not have purchased it $.89 for just ONE APPLE ! Guess I will really be enjoying that
