The crew behind X-Men 97 is incredible! Their passion and love for these characters can be felt in every episode of this first season. It's awesome how they grew up with the original 90s series and then delved into the comics and then for them to be crafting a sequel series to the original show that is just as legendary, if not more for legendary then the original show for this current era! This Crew is incredible and deserves all the praise and critical Acclaim their show has been getting! Super proud of the X-Men 97 team! 🌟 ✨️🎆

I saw the making of the series early this morning and it was really good. The whole continuing the legacy, grounded storytelling, sticking to the same animation but also updating to make it look more stylized which they talk about and honoring the legacy of the original actors that passed away from Norm Spencer, David Hemblen.
Where was this making of? I need to watch it!

@@SPACEKNOCKERZ76it could be both or neither, but it's still funny to think it was a jab because of a different effect that is now pervasive. I've found knowledge of where some stories go or continue from blinds some viewers from how good or bad the actual story they're looking at is.
For example, does our preknowledge of Madelyne's Goblin Queen turn in the comics help or hinder us from seeing the logical steps from finding out she's the clone, having Sinister's control activate, and going against the X-Men in the show? Does that scene clearly convey a complete reason for the "heel turn" to a completely unfamiliar person, or does it seem illogical? Does the lack of all the layered Inferno comics arc stuff make the psychic underworld simulation any less enjoyable that she's not a real Limbo powered Goblin Queen?
I loved this interview. Getting insight into their creative processes is amazing. Coy you are great at interviewing people, especially fellow comic nerds.

Coy always asks great questions
I love Emi's response (and non-response) to Coy's very first question. No one said Onslaught was a misdirect since he doesn't necessarily just emerge from Xavier's psyche immediately after touching Magneto's darkness (and shouldn't).
My educated guess is that Onslaught was initiated there and then, and was not meant to be a misdirect, rather it will emerge at some point in Season 2.

Kudos on creating an applauded work and thank for it as a fan. I had a relationship with comics but I didn't become a diehard until that TAS series and a collector card set that ran with it. I had expectations. I knew you would preserve the original nostalgia well enough. I also assumed nods to popular comic stories yet variations on the themes as with the original. I did not expect something so high in cinematic quality and fresh. Lately I'd found a lack of stimulation in the arts and this show rekindled that. My only regret is no longer being able to look to new Wednesday releases which of course just says even more about the job you and your colleagues did here.

This went by way to fast! Coy got as much in there as he could and I applauded him for that. What this interview really underlines for me is that they have hired people that watched and loved this show in the 90s. They grew up and are throwing in what we all wanted to see back then (I still think about nightcrawler pulling wolverine through his BAMF daily). I hope that disney/marvel continue to higher people like Emi and Chase who put their love of the content into the show and how it shows in the end results.

Honestly I think with everything going on with finding a new person to take over after DeMayo as writer we might be fine cause honestly it seems like these people know and love the comics and the original series that if either one or both of them got to be the new writers I’d be fine.
Nah they are cooked after season 2 Disney doesn't like creative expression unless it aligns with them, and DeMayo WAS the reason season 1 was so good. Season 3 gonna be more She-Hulk
Perhaps Disney will adopt this model for Star Wars. Having true fans who understand the source material and are great storytellers is… the whole point.

1:41 I always say that the only thing comics are missing is creating a show out of the comics... Just like the Japanese do with mangas into animes, I bet their manga sales are up when the animes bring attention to the mangas... At the end of the day, comics are well-designed storyboards waiting to be brought to TV… I can see the Marvel Ultimate Comics Spider-man, Fantastic Four, x-men, and Avengers done from issue 1 to the end
Coy really pushing "feral Wolverine" but why? Losing adamantium isn't what caused that. I mean, if they are in the future, most of those stories can't play out as in the comics anyway. Like Emi said, they will do their own thing. Feral MIGHT happen, but if it does, probably one moment and thats it.
With how face paced (rushed feeling) that the show has, I wouldn't be shocked if they just skip it all and have Wolverine get the adamantium back via Apocalypse.

Batman vs TMNT was one of the most underwhelming animated movies ever where you have 2 iconic franchises and I felt bored. Coy just doesn't know quality.

I love this interview! The crew behind X-Men ‘97 knew what the fans wanted and they delivered. They made you want to invest in what the next story will be. This was why I got into Marvel when I was little because X-Men the Animated Series got me into the Marvel lore. I’ve been collecting comics and video games since.
