Whatever you do just make sure you never close this channel. It's going to grow because this channel is the real deal. Content is A1 👍🏽👏🏽
The channel is like Ryan Gosling teaching grip! Awesome!
haha I thought the closeup at 2:45 WAS Ryan Gosling -- like a BTS clip or something .. too funny.
I'm legit doing a marathon of all your video's now and i will try to leave a comment under evry single video
Watched 15 + the Trailer in a row tonight. Thank you for the awesome content.
Thank you. That was very helpful to me
Amazing channel, making me look forward to more productions:)
Such a good channel. I never comment, but I want to support what you're doing. Honestly I learned more from all your videos than my last lighting class. Looking forward to more intermediate-advanced level setups. Like the 5 light (I think it's 5...) setup you do in the intro. Thanks for the quality videos. Know that all the hard work is not in vain.
Thanks man, this comment kind of made my day. I appreciate it bud!
I just though of a space saving tip.
If you take a 4'x4' piece of cardboard with a circle cut out of it and some black tape or paint you can have round and square in bounce on one board... thanks for the tip...
i love this channel
A very good and practical video. I'm going to mention this in my blog.
Duane Char thanks man, much appreciated
that was epic! I am totally going to make one!
Nice information 🙂
Very helpful. Thank you!
Love your Channel.
Thanks man, I appreciate it
Beilliant!! Also the round shape tends to project “friendly” vs the square bounce could be effective to key the villains.
Good way to show a character in one close up shot to the eye.
Great channel, this and Luke Seerveld's, are like gold. However surely, if the light was coming from a window, (the usual source for an interior), it would be square. I've even seen a window shaped gobo put in front of soft source, to make the reflection look real, particularly when the talent is wearing glasses.
Great video! If you wanted to use muslin(bleached or unbleached), is there any reflective material that ought to be used between the physical board and the muslin to increase the bounce?
Hm… honestly I’ve never tried to increase the bounce. Im not entirely sure that’s possible. Probably would be a much more powerful light I would think? Idk, let me know if you end up finding something like what you’re talking about. Sounds interesting
I wasn’t able to get all of the green sticky residue off. I thought it would be best to just paint that side white, would you recommend a Matte white or a Semi-Gloss or something?
Interesting idea, I’d say go matte and lmk how it works out. You could probably sand it too I suppose but I haven’t tried either. Just my thoughts
@@GripTips Sanding it worked great, thank you for the tip!!
@@benhuff9592 awesome, glad I could help
Hey Dave, I wanted to say thanks for posting these videos. I'm new to Los Angeles and I have a question. Would you say that it's best to invest your money on the industry tested tools (Not relating to your bounce boards) as appose to trying to build your own arsenal of gear. If so, are there resources that you can recommend as alternatives to film tools or do their prices reflect most of the industry cost? Again, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Cesar Cisneros invest, I would never trust a $40 PVC stand to hold up a $9000 light. Even if you were a metal worker, and could build a C stand, don't. Most guys wanna see the Matthews or American trademark stamp on the side of the gear, because those companies have worked out the kinks and have tested their stuff. Additionally gear tends to pay itself off a few times over and last a very long time. That's talking grip and electric specifically, not camera. So totally invest. If it's your own project? You could do DIY to cut cost, but I think that depends on what you are DIYing. Again $9000 light. Hope this helps! Good luck in LA LA land! Haha
Legit
how do I follow your channel?
Look for the subscribe button and tap it
I cut mine 4x3, it's much, much easier to fit in the back of any car.
Would it even be possible to do a DIY mirror reflector board complete with yoke? The Matthews mirror board is $1,100 WITH mirror. $1,000 WITHOUT mirror. That means they are charging $1,000 for a YOKE.
Yes, how can we make a yoke for some foam bounce boards for windy outdoor use?
pro
lefty loosey grip head at 2:27?!?!?!?! how dare you! :P
Daniel Jusino son of a bead board, well... luckily the Matthews stands work both ways but yea, nice call out
