I'll never forget seeing Ornette during his week at Lincoln Center in the summer of '97. Saw him twice, first night with Haden, Higgins, Kenny Drew on piano. Next night was Prime Time and many guests showed up, Badal Roy, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, jugglers, dancers, acrobats. But just to hear him play, sitting on a stool, back to the group, calmly wailing it out. Exquisite.

Yes, Dewey played with Ornette for quite a few years in the 1970's. The group with Denardo, Don Cherry, Haden and OC is actually my favorite OC group- check out "Crisis".
