Wonderful. Reminded me of Sonny on "Our Man in Jazz" with Don Cherry. Very eloquent, brilliant and inside-out. Great stuff. He sounds freer in a trio. With Haynes and McBride it really takes off and then add Ornette. Sonny also made me think of East Broadway Rundown (with Elvin, Jimmy Garrison and Freddie)...the faceted deconstruct-reconstruct approach viewed 44 years later. Thank you.
That's like Coleman Hawkins meeting Lester Young, the 2010 version. Only in this case the guy named Coleman (Ornette) is in the Lester Young position... Hearing these two giants together and at their 80s really adds a new perspective to their individual style. Truly historical.
Thanks a lot dixiefeet .it s my first time I listen to this version,my mistake, thinking people in their 80 s can not groove as in their prime. What a groove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They both play what music is there at that moment. No matter key and changes. Ornette and Sonny, both past 80 yrs old giving everyone a lesson on what "improvising" means in essence. Beautiful. They too old to lie posture shuck or jive....just music !!
he never played a soprano... he sometimes played tenor - but no one has ever reported to have seen him playing a soprano. it's just his tone... a bit soprano like, yes (an old friend of mine told the same thing some 30 years ago while listening him live)
Was there. Beyond Epic. When Ornette walked on stage buddy and I looked at each other and said: yes, its him. It was unforgettable.
This gig had to have been one of Christian McBride's greatest nights!
Damn right it was, brother! 😃
Maravilla absoluta dos genios juntos!

This is one of the greatest records I ever heard. Ornette is right up there with Sonny and Sonny forget about it! The greatest!
Masters of jazz

I've played this head so many times from high school jazz band to jam sessions and literally never knew what it was called. Am I the only one?
Blow me away..what a band....THANKS dixiefeet.......
you're welcome, Chrissy

C'es un très grand morceau de musique contemporaine
Thanks. This music is incredible.
Very lovely
Wow, Ornette with Roy Haynes!
A musical giant like Sonny Rollins nowadays has nothing more to add to his imposing carier.
dig that crazy beat daddy

Excelente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...how about Roy Haynes on drums...are you kidding me...the man is 85 years old here. Today the man is 89 years old and still a great timekeeper.
mr corea kixx, roy is not a timekeeper....he is a great musician and a master of his instrument ! got it....?
@@nicolassimion6967 if he wasn't a great timekeeper, he wouldn't be a master of his instrument. or a bangin' tap dancer (which he also is)
superlativi assoluti!
cool! hahaha...i hope i can play once i get this age
During the first minute Sonny sounds like an old propellor airplane that moves away from you.
Giuliano Perticara yes, the cover is wrong. The piece, like is written in the informations, appears on the 2nd volume of "Road Shows" (2011).
このアルバム探してました!

Ornette is playing soprano sax -
I think Ornette is playing his alto sax in the up register....!
Yes Ornette is playing alto sax

The first couple of minutes are utterly boring and un-swinging. The last few make up for that a bit but this shouldn't be 20 minutes.
I desperatly hoped that Eric Dolphy would have been here instead Ornette....
