They are coming on great in this video.
Soak your dried mealworms in luke warm water and leave for 8 hours and drain. Your quails will not know the difference. I would say though live insects are essential for the first few weeks of life if you want good fertility and long lived birds. One of my White males lived to be 8 years and 3 months and females averaging about 6 years on an all natural diet thats insects greens and seeds mostly wild types like poppy thistle dandilion hyssop etc Well worth growing a patch just for bird seeds. Also feeds the bees and butterflies.

ive just got five 3 week old chicks and i could spend hours watching them dust bathing and scratching around or stretching out in the sun , i let mine out in my small garden and they love it , i thought i would have problems rounding them up but they all stay together and file back indoors when theyve had enough

Hey if your quail don’t eat the dried mealworms try to crumble the dried meal worms and put it in their food and they should go crazy over it.

I crush the dried worms up for my babies. They don't even know they're eating them 😅

Thank you for your videos about keeping quail.
Do they eat flying insects, like fungus gnats, thrips, aphids and mosquitos?

Im going to try again with eggs, only had 1 chick from the 6 eggs last time, so going to try and hatch some more. may try and have a indoor cage like yours to keep them in for night and out in a run in day.

Good idea. I always find it easier to look after a batch of chicks rather than just one or two, they seem to keep each other entertained.

What are high protein seed for healthy quail growth?

Hey Battlespace sorry for the late reply. I find flax seeds are the easiest to get hold of, they are high in protein and quail will readily eat them. Hemp seed are great too but tend to be quite pricey for only a small amount.

Hey Amanda! I used to vent sex them but these days I’m in no rush so I tend to just wait until they are 5 to 8 weeks old, at which point the males will start trying to mount each other or have a go at crowing and As they do so they get moved to the “for sale” pen 😀
