This recording is awesome. If the original version is anything like this it was surely an undiscovered hit. Great rhythmic feel and use of space. It has pauses which are cool. It breathes and doesn't get too repetitive. Great move on his part.

That song is so sexy. The guitar rhythm is kinda anticipatory and then goes back to the hook/chord.

I don't think this is the live recording from Sam's in March of 1981. There's another recording that was circulating (audience) of that entire show. This is entirely different live performance.

Prince should have put this song on one of his albums, Controversy or 1999 album. I think this might of turned into a single; it has a good mid-tempo groove. But it reminds me of some of the songs/music from the “I Wanna Be Your Lover” “Sexy Dancer” album.
This song is on his first album. Different arrangements though.
@@saylormcvernon226 I didn’t know that… I never heard all the songs from his very 1st album. Only Soft & Wet; 1978/79, I was still kinda too young before I get into music. I hadn’t heard of Prince yet during that time.

It was recorded on "for you" album,but studio version surely. It is absolutely masterpiece. Nobody can compare to Prince. He is genius. O(+> I miss him so much as well as harf of the world..

Some say it was about vanity because he didn't understand her mood swings before finding out about the cocaine use. Not sure if it's true since they met in 1979-80.
This was written in 1977 way before
