  • Fabric cutters and choosing the right one. I often get asked a lot of questions about the 3 fabric cutters that I have in my quilting room. The 3 fabric cutters that I have chosen are the AccuQuilt Studio 2, AccuQuilt GO Me and the AccuQuilt GO Big. They each serve a different purpose in my sewing and quilting adventures. In this video, I walk you through how to use each fabric cutting machine and explain what I like about each one. I also share how the fabric cutter dies work. I like to use the AccuQuilt brand of fabric cutters because they are made especially for quilting and also for the ability to cut multiple layers all at one time. They also have a large variety of dies available to fit any quilter or sewists needs.
    Crafting made fun and easy! Join me as I teach you how to make beautiful crafts and quilts using different techniques.
    I get a lot of questions regarding the sewing machine that I am using. The machine that I am using is a Janome 9400 QCP and Brother XV8500D Dream Machine.

    Great video on comparing the different cutters from AccuQuilt. I got the Ready, Set Go Cutter a year ago when it was on sale and it has been a live saver for me. I have arthritis in my hands also but it doesn't seem to bother me to use the crank on the machine. The system is expensive, yes! But without it I would have to give up quilting and that's not happening yet. I will say that buying the dies are addictive though. lol.

    The square is not straight on the mat so would that mean that your squares would come out bias?

    What is the biggest square does the machine cut ?

    Regarding the Studio cutter:
    First of all, the reason they say not to cut more layers of minky is because the fabric is so stretchy and it won’t cut properly. Attempting more layers will not damage your die or the cutter.
    Second, you can cut ten layers of cotton all day long! There has never been a recommendation of only eight layers.
    And lastly, you have the die going in the wrong direction of the grain and you’re supposed to angle the die slightly so one corner goes in first and it will be much easier.

    Why can you only cut 6 layers instead of adding more?

    • @sandybruce9092
      @sandybruce9092 Рік тому

      More layers than 6 could,potentially ruin your machine. Please stick with what the company says and,don’t,take a chance on ruining your machine and/or dies. Thicker fabrics take less layers - life wool, felt, craft foam, card stock, etc. yes, I’ve cut card stick with no problems for appliqué pieces to trace onto fabric.
