    I took a test when I just woke up and my mind was fully charged and I got 124 IQ.
    I took the test again on a day when I was very tired and late in night and I got 115 IQ.
    I can see how your mental state and energy affects the results. Great video btw!

      yeah. The first test I ever took was the mensa norway online and scored 125 while somewhat tired then the next year took the professional version of that style of test and scored 140 15SD. So my experience seems consistent with yours but idk.
      Edit: Recently I took the new version of the mensa no and scored 131 and 130 for mensa dk its possible that these tests are harder than the official test but idk will have to look into this deeper later ig

      It was late night and I was quite tired. If it was in the morning I would have probably scored a little higher.

    Like you said, IQ tests are only a measure of an individual’s cognitive prowess. Intelligence though, can vary depending on how well they can adapt to change. Although, some people do not like to change, but still try to adapt to it. That only makes them a stronger person.

    Also I'd suggest taking online tests with a grain of salt. I've scored anything from 94 to 180 depending on the test even though I'd say 105-115 is probably a bit more accurate 😅

    I was expecting you to reference the study that shows IQ changes with respect to the environment and mindset one is in. They took IQ scores of farmers with crops that sold in one season and grew the crops the remainder of the year. Due to the stress of not paying bills, the study found that farmers IQ fell significantly on the “off season” and rose a great deal right after harvests. It just shows that there’s a lot of volatility when it comes to measuring intelligence and those who are struggling to make ends meet (those with an effective scarcity mindset) are in danger of this phenomenon. The fact is that critical thinking and reasoning is more influenced by the environment more than most people realize. This is why I think leading a healthy and happy life and living up to your intellectual potential go hand and hand and are on in the same!

    • @billyhgunn
      @billyhgunn 2 роки тому

      Hmmm, So the 1st test the farmers took they had a lower IQ score, And the 2nd test they had a higher IQ score?
      To me thats only prooving that they increase score the more and more tests they take. I have a high IQ in problem solving/ critical thinking, and I always beleived the 2 things that played the biggest role were, My ADHD, because I need to rely on logic to solve problems rather then memory. At least more often then those who dont have ADHD effecting there memory, And also that I've had a rather difficult up bringing in Harlem, So ive been confronted with more life problems then most, And these 2 things have put me in a position where ive had to use these problem solving skills more than normal, and like any skill the more you use it the stronger they become. So I guess i agree with the part enviornment can effect IQ but i dont know if i agree that hardship hurts IQ, in fact i beleive neccesity is the mother of invention, People use there critical thinkng and problem solving skills the most in hardship, And there fore they remain tuned oiled and ready to go.

    I suspect your IQ is 126-146. I'll guess 136. I say that as a backdrop to say your generosity and graciousness in offering your opinion is admirable. As for IQ, I concur that intense training-to-the-test "games the system" in local episodes "one month or so" prior to re test. I do also believe that sustained multiple-session per week exercises and practices OVER 5-8+ months CAN raise the IQ of a person by as much as a standard deviation, especially from like 90->106. Going from 110-> 126 would be harder, and from 120->136 commensurately much harder. Neuroplasticity with smart practice over a protracted timeframe CAN lift someone's IQ fairly sizeably and permanently, if the person continues to use the logic/reasoning, auditory processing, visual processing and memory/attentional skills in intense academic and/or work settings thereafter. I call this the "Practice and Use" approach to cognitive skills development. PS. This is mostly doable from about 7 years old to 18, but is accessible for most ages, but probably not as well.

    Your I.Q. can change. My son was tested when he was in kindergarten and he scored low. He was high functioning autistic and developed epilepsy. He got good accommodations in elementary school, junior high and high school. He graduated high school with high grades and got a scholarship for college. He's a sophomore in engineering, making As and Bs. I'm proud of him! His IQ was very low in kindergarten. He probably would test gifted now. Great information in this video! Thank you for sharing!

    • @kmah324
      @kmah324 Рік тому

      @@kaliciusernameI'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say by low, they mean S.D below the mean in which case, even if they were to work hard and reach their cognitive potential, going by the video, it's unlikely that the child would all be somewhat above 1 S.D above the mean (what is typically required for engineering) hence their I.Q can change statement. Overall, I disagree that g factor can change significantly but there could be issues that occur during testing which could result in the IQ score not accurately converging onto the person's g-factor (practicing every battery on the wais, depression, adhd, being tired on the day, etc).

  • @SantiagoOchoa

    Watching the video I just realized that IQ is a population comparative score and, therefore, people should be compared only with other people who have had the same training as you on things that increase IQ scores. For example, if you are taking the test for the first time in your life and never had training on things that increase your IQ, you should be compared only to all other people in the world who have also taken the test for the first time and had no training. If you had some training or education in things that increase IQ scores and have taken the test 3 times in your life, you should only be compared with people with the same training and experience. That way, if you get 115 the first time you take the test and had no training, for example, you should still get 115 when you train and take it 3 times. The same thing happens with mood, even though it is very hard to account for, if all people with the same training, experience and mood are compared, that would be a much more accurate score than the average of all people in the world.

    I think IQ cannot be dismissed as it has its utilities in varied aspects of society, but I indeed am inclined to care less about it, especially since most of the time it's brought up it isn't in ways that I believe are the most healthy and best for its use. I'm not in the field of psychology, so that makes the odds of stumbling with good takes on and applications of IQ even worse.
    However, when thinking about intelligence overall, and IQ could function as a metric in here, I do reflect on this aspect of "change". In general, agree with much of what you said here. When I think about this is that an obvious simple case point of difference in IQ is the cognitive development, as you pointed out. I also think about the decline that often occurs as you get older, past some age, I wouldn't say I couldn't try to appoint people that seem to lose their capabilities by their 50s. So I indeed think that an important, fundamental aspect of intelligence would be related to continuous exercise, not that much different from manual skills, or training of the muscles.

    I was wondering this as well. So as an INTP I started tracking my IQ tests over time on a spreadsheet. I had a section for general mood that day, notable events recently happening, how "smart" I feel at the time, whether I'm on my ADHD meds, etc.
    Also as an INTP, I abandoned this project after half-finishing 1 IQ test. Haha...
    (For the most part, my value of IQ as a concept has dropped significantly over the years as I learn more about it and how it's just measuring one aspect of brain function. Hence, my interest in Jungian psych!)

    I wonder if IQ tests could also represent, to some degree, artistic gut and insights. Why some people experience their feelings intensely, and naturally come to develop what they have experienced into more sharable, universal formats, and some people don't? If I define artistic creativity as the desire for expression and the ability to really invent new forms, could the mathematical measurements of intelligence encompass such traits? (I personally have no doubt that Picasso, Bach, Beethoven had high IQ scores)

    I think our mind, is more or less flexible. It's like measuring the number of drops in a certain amount of water.
    Troubles, dysfunctions, stress, lack of focus, disinterest, physical/mental/emotional fatigue, psychic disturbances... many things can influence the score on the decline.
    I translated the sentence at the end of my results :
    " the dysfunctions have caused his total score to drop, which does not currently reflect the full extent of his intelligence. "
    For the WAIS IV test, when there is a difference of more than 9 points between the extreme scores, seems there is suspicion of troubles.

    I had a practise online before taking a cognitive test with a psychologist recently. It makes a difference, eg. with 2 coloured balls moving over a grid I picked out the next in line from one ball only saying 'the other ball may be random' and i could tell by her microexpression that it was a win. But I'd learnt that that was an option so didn't delve into the lack of pattern which otherwise would have bothered me.
    Wow, this was a much longer and more boring comment than I expected.

    I want to re-take my tests, I grew up going to school in Harlem, and had a un maintained learning disability, I was given an IQ test around 8 years old and I remember being told I scored 119 on a Problem Solving / Logic area of the test, as well as above 115 on the Algebra portion(cant remember specific result), I didnt study nor did I even care when I took the test. I didnt realise what it was and even if I did, I was so bored with school that I didn't partake in many activities. I have ADHD and I feel like that actually helped hone my Logic skills, since ADHD really impaired my memory, (wait what was I saying, Oh Yeah...) when faced with problems I had to rely on my logic to solve it rather then going off a memory like a a prior solution, more than some one would without ADHD. So its a muscle I constantly use. Just a theory.....
    P.s. Not sure how I did on the grammar part of the test. Probably low 80's if I had to guess...Lol

    This topic about IQ, and human cognitive abilities is actually very interesting to me. I took an IQ test one month ago, the website i took the test promised to be quite accurate, and i scored an IQ of 134. My friend, that i regard as highly inteligent, and i considered on average more inteligent than me had an IQ of 122. I am a developer by profession and my friend studies law. So IQ of both of us were prety high on this test. But at the time, i was kind of tired and felt a little demotivated, so i took the test as some kind of a confirmation of my inteligence or cognitive abilities, just as something to keep me more motivated and productive at work. I didnt expect much at that moment, and felt that i could have done better. Luckily, just recently i got back on track and i found my motivation and life discipline again, and im feeling good right now. Currently i am studying for some programming exam, and im pretty high on motivation. So i was wondering, if i pass the exam, i will probably be very happy about it, high on energy and confidence, and if i take this IQ test again, well rested and feeling better than before, would my results improve dramatically. Like 30 points increase or something similar. It would be a cool experiment to try, since i kind of like the idea of measurable IQ potential, just to check is my IQ celing higher then before. My expectations are not to high on acheiving huge increase in points, but out of curiosity and for fun, why not try it again.

    i just watched another video and they said that the iq settles at the age of 15-16 i don't agree i took an iq test at the age of 15 but i didn't have an important factor at that age and that is Focus ,i din't care what the test was it was no value in the iq test i did't know the meaning of it ,i think the iq settles on diferently on each person but not below 20 years ,even tho i scored above average then i feel more focused on a problem and i can solve it much more quicker ,so in my personal opinion the iq can increase but depends from one to another
