Anyone else notice that the tune playing on the player piano is now the first song off Olafur's album called Re:member?

any chance of the stratus source code (or parts of it) becoming available? I imagine it's probably a ridiculously complex structure with its fair share of hacks you wouldn't want anyone to see but I for one would be eternally grateful :)
I've been having a go at writing a logic scripter plugin that could emulate this kind of idea but I really don't know where to begin with the generative aspect, generating those pseudo-random quasi-arpeggiated sequences based off the notes being fed in
while what I have is nowhere near stratus (it's basically a mix of an arpeggiator and midi note repeater that drops notes at random/ under a velocity threshold) it does sound nice when put on two piano vsts panned a bit each way, and since it's all in-the-box I've been using it for softsynths and other sounds, too, which has been loads of fun. maybe you could try putting together a pair of robotic glockenspiel players and hook the stratus system up to them, that'd be neat
    haha
if you ever do open-source stratus, I'll be the first to clone the repo and have at'er ;)
either way thanks for making this beautiful thing

I wonder if Halldor is familiar with Pat Metheny's Orchestrion Project?

    I wish I wasn't a teenager. . .
    ._.
Hey Ólafur, what did you do when you were 15 music wise?? I mean I am playing non stop piano for 9.5 years and learning from a 5th teacher and don't take it as if they are teaching me the same stuff. I know you read this so please reply. Thanks for keeping it up!

pretty sure he was playing drums in a punk band. i think i remember reading in an interview that he got into arranging by writing some ridiculous overdramatic string parts for a song by a metal band he liked, sent it to them and they actually liked it (he was pretty much touring the world by the time he was like 21 so I'm assuming he wouldn't have been much older than 15 when he got started with arranging)
so i mean i guess the idea is kinda just make stuff and get it out there. as for piano as he's said before he's really not a great pianist (I think his words were "I can't play piano for shit") but he's a brilliant arranger and has an ear for strong harmonic/ melodic content. i think the idea there is to have good taste and be able to apply it, both of which are actually kinda hard but finding music you really like and doing your damnedest to learn it is probably a good approach, figure out how the stuff you like works and emulate that.

"This is where technology and art meets." "You can create an infinite series of works." Truly remarkable!
Be careful Halldór, your computers may one day rebel for creative differences and want autonomy to create music under their own label. Robot plagiarism will become a thing one day 😄
