Cluny Alberta Canada | Driving Tour | Future Ghost Town or Future Boom Town?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лис 2024
- Today we take a drive through the hamlet of Cluny Alberta Canada in Wheatland County just east of Calgary Alberta.
As we drive I can't help but think that this hamlet may become a ghost town, or, if the right direction is taken, a little boom town.

We'd love to hear from you. Do you live or have lived in Cluny? What do you think is the future of Cluny?
It has potential. But then again I can see it dying away.
@@-backintime I wonder what happened to the fire department if they are selling their station.
@@teacherjohn4396 It was a volunteer fire department and they didnt have any volunteers so they shut it down in 2021.
Thanks for sharing! Last time I was there was 2014. Most of Cluny is still the same but definitely, a couple of buildings and houses are gone. Great video!
@@CoachBen47 Thanks for stopping by. It looks like there is a lot of vacant land.
Good video! Thanks
Drove through there lots of times in the late 70's and early 80's when my parents had a cabin in Hidden Valley Resort. If you would have continued South the road dips into a valley, you go over a blue trestle bridge that crosses the Bow River, a few hundred yards further was the entrance. All of it got wiped out by the 2013 flood. It was never rebuilt because of issues between the Resort ownership and Siksika Nation. I must say the town and area look better now than back then.
Wow! That is a unique perspective. I am glad to here the town looks better. It has been losing residents but it does appear a bit tidier than most places. Thanks for the great comment!
Very nice
Great video! Love the look of this place but is there any businesses here? All I see is houses.
Looks great to me.
It doesnt look as bad as some small hamlets
nice
I like that you don't edit out any of your driving in town. I'm happy with seeing the main streets and any other interesting old buildings you find. You could maybe do more intown driving and cut out the highway driving at the later part of the video or just end it as you leave town. Only my opinion though.
For sure. I only had a limited amount of time and want to return to do a lot more driving around town.
Town is dying off like a lot of the trees there. Lack of rain?
It has had its ups and downs, but recently has had a population decline. There has always been a lack of rain in this area, and currently there have been drought conditions throughout the West. But these conditions usually shift and believe it or not some towns here get floods.
My good friends live in Cluny , Steve and Grace Smith
Thanks for dropping by!
Looks like a lot of it is left, and some good houses. I wonder if it is cheaper here to buy? and commute to Calgary? or Strathmore?
Depends on how long you want to sit in the car. Not much job wise, so great for those who work at home or the commuter.
@@gtsfldable Very true. Not much real estate for sale either.
30 minutes to Strathmore, 50 minutes to Brooks and about an hour to Calgary.
My family home Blackfoot native
Awesome! Thanks for stopping by.
Seems like there would be more than 40 living there? It's located very close to the Sisika which may explain the property crime???
That is the latest population statistics. The crime stats for rural property is very high across the west. Its easy targets.
nice
Thanks
not much! good video
LOL
I live outside Cluny
How is life there?
@@livinginalbertanow bad internet but otherwise good

He showed you everything there is in Cluny. He pointed out the abandoned fire house, the liquor store and the weed shop.
