I think the main thing is that you’re both okay and came away from it mostly unscathed. I will say about the rear wall of the cab whomever the engineer is that did the engineering deserves big props for that rear window to have not broken is incredible. And that head board definitely took the brunt of the force at play in the situation. You guys are both very lucky to be alive, it acts as a reminder that things can go pear shaped in a matter of seconds.
thats my thinking with trays, i have a dual cab and wouldnt get a tray without a strong headboard for the fact of if i roll it, it might give me more of a fighting chance

This happened to me on a pretty steep hill with an auto, minus the roll over. It was around 105 degrees outside, but it is possible. Not sure it would save me but that’s why I spent a bunch of time fixing my e brake.
What was wrong with the hand brake and was the check valve in the vacuum canister cooked or something? Not a mechanic but I’m pretty sure that’s there so you pump it a few times it builds pressure and keeps your brakes if you have an engine stall but looks like that failed?
Electric vac pump for the booster might be a worthwhile inclusion. Sucks so bad to have to start again but this may kick off some momentum for bigger and better things.

Cheers mate 🤟🏽 if you watch the vid you see the wheels are trying to lock up but it’s bouncing around because of the speed it’s travelling backwards it just doesn’t slow it enough. Half the time the wheels weren’t even on the ground

They did work just weren’t enough to stop at that speed and angle on that surface. Only chance it was stopping was to start car and drive quickly but couldn’t get to the key in time
Couldn't find the D4 vid. But couple things interesting about eg a tb48 and re5 auto is the ecu has torque limiting which can cut drive by limiting engine revs. Try to do a burn out in a 48 and chances are u can't cause the brake pedal + throttle triggers an engine cut. Same on a very steep hill if you hold the brake to build torque, the ecu cuts the engine revs. These safety features can be disabled and should be cause they are dangerous offroad. Tb48s should be tuned by an expert, eg Brad Smith who'll disable these 'safety' features.
BTW the D4 has a ZF 8 speed auto which every Toyota 4wd owner is now chasing. So I hope they are not renowned for it. Certainly our D4 has never done anything like you say, not even on really steep stuff.

Never said that it’s very easy to do both but not easy to do both very very well. When building a rock crawler compared to a pre runner or high speed car all your anti squat and anti dive will be different. Shock valving and up travel/ downtravel preferences will be different too

There was nothing wrong with the brakes. Simply wasn’t enough to stop me on that incline at that speed with the motor off
I've tried braking with my tb48 when the engine is off, you have to push so damn hard it's not funny

If the motor cut out there’s no brake booster, so no where near as strong braking
