- MOVING DISASTER // MOVING IN + DEEP CLEAN THE HOUSE WITH ME. Today we are officially moving all of our belongings over to the new homestead house. But before we move everything in, I deep clean the kitchen and scrub the floors. So this is a moving in vlog and a cleaning video too!

In the pantry I’d try to refinish the floor to match the kitchen floor.

I have been watching your channel since you were living in Charleston and Andrew was working outside the home and Emmie was an infant.. (just thought you'd like to know.)
First off, the wood under the bottom cabinets are kick plates.
Second, I would think about what is going to be replaced in the kitchen, i.e. Cabinets, counters and floors and go in that order.
For now, I would just stain the floors until you have a solid plan on what you & Andrew are going to do. I have been through so many changes in my old house including a total gut job. So I feel that putting it down on paper always helps.

I’m personally a fan of brick floors. Very boho/cottage feeling. You could do that in the pantry and then later incorporate it into the laundry room/mud room/etc. to make everything more cohesive 😊

Moving is hard when you have kids. This is why we pre-book & hire people to move for us. We just pack up so all they do is pick up & go. Anything we’re concerned about like TV, computer & so on we just move our selves. House is looking great!

I wish I knew how to actually “deep” clean things, you say how you did it but I’d love some like shots of you showing how. I keep a tidy home but I wish it were cleaner than it is. I just truly don’t know what I’m doing,

Allie-good luck in your new house. I had horrible greasy buildup in the kitchen when I moved in, I used Dollar Tree Totally Awesome Degreaser cleaner. It worked so well. did not bother my hands, no smell, and melted the grease off.

I used googone on our cupboards above the stove that I could not get clean with anything else… they felt brand new after!
Floor pops in the pantry!
For your kitchen cabinets try using Milsek. It’s amazing. It will cut through grease like nobodies business as well as conditions the wood.

Use the floor tiles in the pantry. The door is going to be closed most of the time anyway - and it's CUTE for a pop for that room!

I know I sound cranky, but I’d love to watch your videos for motivation, but haven’t been able to stick with one in the new house…what is double beeping/chirping every ~20 seconds?
I know I’d ask can u hire someone to clean but I myself looked into it it’s so expensive. Even at one point we did and they didn’t even do a good job and we had to go back

The floor is in a confined space and not use for foot traffic so why even mess with it, with todays prices and economy I think a lot of people just would enjoy any place to call home

Some people enjoy the charm and character that only older homes can provide. New houses don’t have charm or character or personality. Older houses are often built better and built to last.
Love following your journey! I also have stained cabinets. Murphy ‘s Oil Soap will remove all the grime from your cabinets…it is an amazing soap cleaner! I clean mine about once a year with this. Once all is cleaned and dried (a few days later), I go over all my cabinets with Linseed oil. It will make your cabinets look amazing! My brother is a cabinetry maker and gave me this tip years ago!❤️❤️❤️
I would leave the floor in the pantry and stain it. In the long run I think you’ll appreciate it. ❤
I joke that I’m still cleaning layers of grime off our farmhouse that we bought a year ago 😵💫😂 but it’s worth it to have a historic home on some land! ❤ you’re motivating me to go clean my cabinets now haha

Prev house is better & nice
It was beautiful, but it was in the city, with restrictions on animals, etc. Now she can grow her own food and raise animals for eggs, etc. 😊

You could probably also paint the backsplash white! It would really brighten it up and be a temporary upgrade
Ok whyyyy did I not think of this… what have I been doing? 😆 we are painting the bathroom floor tile and even talked about painting the wall tile in there for a hot minute but why didn’t I think of backsplash for now?! going to get paint tomorrow! 😆
