Magneto going to the north pole ,and using earth's magnetic field to diaable all the sentinels on the planet was badass.
He sent a global EMP blast across the globe. Think of everything that was impacted and how many people more than likely died because of it.

Rogue is not a sentinel that's just an excuse, it's way more interesting for her to have an emotional reaction to Gambit's demise (and she thinks Magneto as well) and that's why she killed Trask. Rogue is emotionally impulsive and that is canon
Loved seeing Kurt x Logan tear apart the Sentinels, and Kurt getting his swash buckling on 👍🏽
All the plot threads, action, and cameos were crazy good! Cable, Cyclops, Jean grey trio was sick!
This episode was incredible! That was only Part-1 of 3?!?!? I can't honestly contain my excitement for the next two episodes over the next two weeks! The team-ups, the action, the music, the dialogue, the animation, the Easter Eggs, the cameos, and the respect for the comic book source material and original 90s animated series that inspired it all was absolutely perfect! I'm honestly ready to say that this is my favorite project Marvel/MCU has ever done 10/10 episode! I can't wait for next week!
Only problem is, this is beginning to show how convoluted Claremont's and later X-Men writers' plots were in those days. Like Bastion's many retcons. At least this show has the benefit of hindsight and can drop easter eggs along the way; but still... This old comics reader followed Marvel from the early days of the 70s, but the 90s is when I couldn't take it any more and gave up on mainstream Marvel altogether, a combination of awful 90s artstyle where every average artist was aping the mediocre Jim Lee, and sub-par writing. If the writers of this show keep mining that era, it won't end well, too many inane plot back then. I'd love to see a lighter show about the OG team in the Kirby style.

And that is how it's SUPPOSED to be done, and bra-freaking-vo for them embodying the Spirit of X-Men without dropping it. I was iffy before the show launched, but it's easily been one of the best pieces of media of recent memory (short of some anime. Cough, Bravern, cough, and not for a deep message).

The crazy thing is with all the MCU actors getting a chance, Demayo and Majors seem to have just been kicked without second thought. The two best things to happen to Marvel in a while.

However, it is highly likely that a executive or ten only just found out about it and immediately fired him for tarnishing their image, as conventional "wisdom" has them particularly afraid of any sexual "controversies" (on top of a good chance that they were personally disgusted out of either conservative or pseudo-progressive moralism) and typically don't keep in touch with the chatter outside their rich bubble. Basically James Gunn "scandal" 2.0. The fact that Beau DeMayo wasn't publicly denounced (and that they kept in his cameo in ep 5, to boot) makes it highly unlikely that there are any actual skeletons at risk of spilling out of the closet. On a side note, his OF was slightly spicy, not hardcore. Not that there'd be anything objectively wrong with the latter, but it'd at least make the freakout sort of defensible.

I think that wolverine is the key to the cure to change the Prime Sentinels back to humans. Wolverine healing factor can create the antibodies need for Beast to make a cure.

You missed the “XM52” reference in the shot with the “Stark Expo” in Bastion’s room. X-Men 52 was the first appearance of Bastion.
Also Jubilee’s new outfit is to more closely resemble her modern look (see Generation X #1 (2017))

I wish they could upgrade all their outfits, but now the most recent comics are going backwards to the early 90s looks again probably to try to prepare for the movies making them look that way. This episode was amazing. Charles, pulled up like a G. Crash-landed and went straight to work, “to me my X-Men” , no hesitation , just chilling in the space pod 😂. But I definitely felt chills during that scene. Amazing ending to the episode.

I would argue that the dream is even more important than ever. Fight fire with fire and the whole world burns, and even if an eye for an eye doesn't make the whole world blind, two eyes for an eye certainly does.
Of course Xavier and the X-men should defend themselves and their fellow mutants, but so many conflicts are the result of two wrongs trying to make a right, when all it really does is provide petty short term satisfaction, pushing the pendulum back and forth between extremes until it spirals out of control.
When people see a leader of mutants urging harmony between human and mutant kind despite what some bigoted humans have done to them, this shows just how sincere his goals for peaceful coexistence really are. Look at Gandhi, Martin Luther King etc...these steadfast advocates of peace had every reason to punch back twice as hard at their persecutors, but they remained true to their principles and purpose to the end, and inspire us to stamp out ignorance, reach mutual understanding and root out the misguided reasons for prejudice still.
Let Magneto be the mutant's retribution, while Xavier continues to be the alternative.
Dont think thats gonna happen. I think instead or I hope, we'll be allowed as viewers to make our own choice if we agree with a very rigid Prof X viewpoint or a more flexible Magneto viewpoint. I hope other characters join Magneto and they don't just get made to seem "evil" off the bat
Bastion also made a cameo in episode 5, when Magneto was entering the party hall. In the zoom out shot with Magneto was the focus, Bastion's head passed through the screen.

The Prime Sentinels just watching Rogue and doing nothing could very well mean she is infected and they were waiting for her to wake up as one of them
Right? They've got a known powerful mutant lying helpless before them and they do nothing. There's a period of time where we (and Rogue) are in the dark as to what happened...
When I saw Spiderman show up in this episode, this 50 year old man came right out of his chair! I LOVED the original Spiderman show back in the Xmen era.

Well not mutant but machine. And that's kind of the entire thing with Sentinels, they start out as a desperate move by humans to stop mutants from overtaking them, but then the machines decide to be in charge instead. The twist here is to have human-machine hybrids which is a bit different.

Cyclops calling the prime sentinels “toasters” is a reference to what humans call cylons in Battlestar Galactica!
I hate to be that nerd, but as a physics professor, the magnetic field converges at all points of the earth. He went to the North Pole because the magnet field is "strongest" at the poles. Also, he is not reversing the polls. That wouldn't do what we saw in the show. He is using the magnetic field to create an EMP that is wiping out all machines. That or he is removing our magnetosphere and allowing cosmic radiation to do that, but that would also cook the earth and that didn't seem to happen. It is neat though that you can see the Northern lights all the way around the earth as he is doing it.
This series has been so freaking good so far, that I'm still believing Marvel has a future if they give their projects to the right people, people who respectfully use the source material. I'm amazed on how mature this show is, how amazing are the dialogues, and how well established are the motivations of pretty much every important character (the way Magneto lives all this is outstanding, you can't even blame the guy for going all in)

Magneto's not a villain, nor is he an anti-hero. But I'm not going to call him a hero either. He saved Mutants from a genocide. He did what had to be done, period. One reason I have loved Marvel comics so much is because their "villains" have been so complex. They're the heroes of their story. As a POC, I can COMPLETELY understand her comment of "no one seemed shocked or surprised." When you're used to seeing injustice done on a daily basis, it's not a surprise when you see it on a massive scale. Worse, you see it as "par for the course." The one's who are ultimately are surprised by it are those who don't have to deal with it on a daily basis.

Thank you for highlighting the X-Men mirroring real life events. Not only is this a fantastic show with a strong storyline, but it resonates because they are a reflection of tragedies playing out IRL
I can’t express how much I love and appreciate this channel. This episode breakdown is longer than the actual episode! Learned so much about this awesome universe I really love. Had to order some merch- got the remember it shirt. I’m still not over losing gambit and he is not even close to the top of my favorite x men list.

I actually think the opening with Asteroid M and Magneto's final move of a world wide EMP was from Fatal Attractions. In that story, he raises M from the surface of the Earth and to stop the governments of the world from attacking him (and also shutting down a forcefield, SHIELD puts up to keep him out, he descends into the atmosphere and sends off a world wide EMP. This causes massive amounts of death and destruction. Planes fall out of the sky, hospitals lose life support systems, this not only gives humans more reasons to hate Mutants, it causes Xavier to lead a strike force against Magneto, Xavier also joins the battle in a body armor suit allowing him to walk and at the end of Fatal Attractions, Magneto rips out Wolverine's admantium and Xavier is 'forced' to mind wipe Magneto, it's this action that leads to Onslaught.
Season 2 could very well be the Onslaught building within Charles and it's eventual manifestation. Instead of Zero Tolerence being born from the ashes of the Onslaught fear, we have Onslaught born from the Ashes of the Zero Tolerence era. Perhaps another 'fixed' point in time?
i'm leaning that way too - the return of Xavier, Magneto unleashing his power on the world like that... it's not too difficult to see a battle between the Xmen and Magneto which leads to the Fatal Attractions storyline in ep10. Would be a hell of a cliffhanger going into season two!

@@brandoonf6962 I could see a plot where instead of Xavier dying and triggering the AoA, Magneto dies instead and Apocalypse comes forward as the mutant leader of baddies, he would be a good reaction to Zero Tolerence.

I think Gambit is dead for good. Since there isn't any time travel by Cable to prevent the Genosha massacre. Also, Gambit must of died several days ago, possibly even longer.
When Magneto “died” the sentinel said OMEGA LEVEL “THREAT” and Cable the episode before used a electro magnetic grenade to stop one so Magento was their weakness

I still think Val is Mystique. Her hard choices can be attributed to her wife, Destiny, who may have told her she needs to pretend to be Val and then act at a pivotal moment. Her abandoning Kurt can also be explained through Destiny, where she might have seen a good future only if they abandon their son.
It will forever be lost on me when people don’t see the obvious message the X-Men present.
