Drum performance filmed and recorded by Luke Oswald using Superior Drummer 3 from @Toontrack and e-drums and cymbals from Jobeky.
This is a double bass focused improvised solo at 100bpm utilizing linear hand/foot combinations. I had nothing planned and only the goal of using different linear combinations and rhythmic rates between the hands and feet. This is a great alternative to practicing static combinations over and over (although that is good practice too) since everything you play is completely improvised and unplanned. The click is provided for reference.
The drum samples used in this performance are from The Hit Factory SDX expansion from the New York Studios Vol. 2 library for Superior Drummer 3. The drum mix is a custom mix created from scratch using the built in mixer and FX within Superior Drummer 3.
SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3 - THE HIT FACTORY SDX (NEW YORK STUDIOS - VOL 2)
Kick: 14x24” GMS SE Blue Sparkle
Snare: 6.5x14” GMS Maple/Ash Shell (tuned high)
    Hi-Hat: 14” Sabian HHX
Tom 1: 9x10” GMS Clear Head
Tom 2: 14x14” GMS Clear Head (Floor Tom 1 Tuned Up)
Floor Tom: 14x14” GMS Clear Head
    Ride: 22” Sg Series Ride
Crash 1: 18” Sabian HHX Evolution O-Zone Crash
The performance MIDI was recorded and mixed within Superior Drummer 3. The MIDI was recorded directly into Superior Drummer 3 using a Roland TD-30 drum module and Jobeky electronic drums and cymbals.
I also use the Porter & Davies tactile monitoring system. The Porter & Davies BC Gigster is used for the DrumAngle studio configuration and the Porter & Davies BC2 is used for live performance and practice setups.

What are you doing at 0:44 ? Are those 32nds where your tom hits are filling in for the single-stroke left foot? Sounds awesome.

Thank you, appreciate it! You're correct, those are 32nds (I'm also playing the same pattern at 0:41 as 16th note triplets). It's a four note pattern: Right Hand - Left Foot - Right Foot - Right Foot. So R-Hand, L-Foot followed by a double stroke with the Right foot. This is a pattern I learned from watching the great Dave Weckl.

Fluid and Impressive! What sample rate/ buffer size are you using? My pc can only handle 48khz/128 = 5ms output latency. It's ok, but i would like 2,5ms.

I watched your live stream, you use 44,1khz/64. Thank you for the amazing content

Thanks! I just use the lowest buffer setting in Superior Drummer 3, which is 64. I’ve been doing this for years, even on old computers and have never had latency issues.

Qq: what drum heads are you using? Everything I find has a logo blasted on it :/

These are Jobeky three ply mesh heads. I believe their latest versions do have Jobeky labeling on them, but these I've had for awhile and are their older mesh heads which didn't have any labels.

@@DrumangleOfficial ah ok, thanks for the reply. I have the newer Jobeky heads, and while they feel great, the logo annoys me lol. I found some UFO heads that are plain, but not sure how they stack up to the competition.

I don't offer or sell presets, but I'd be happy to show you the Superior Drummer 3 mixer settings in a live Skype/Zoom lesson.
