Its a Rip Stop Canvas. unsure of the exact thickness. Its a common Canvas used for tents here in South Africa. It's both Lightweight and Durable and is able to withstand UV damage. I"ve used it for the weight to strength ratio and for ease of working with.

Nice job. These are semi popular here in Australia and I've made a couple, though I used heavy duty truck tarp PVC instead of canvas.
