Hadestown ended followed by "Your Fonder Heart. It's first time I've ever heard it. My heart instantly felt heavy as a cinderblock, it felt solid, and full of sadness. Lament, longing for an abstract lover, wanting to receive the abundance of love I have and hold in the overflowing cistern that is my heart. A sorry situation to be in when any member of that tribe that calls themselves "lovers", as in "make love not war" have all the love in the world yet have no one in the worl4d to whom I can give it. Only fine & beautiful song writing & singing of the highest order and power evokes and inspires in my self such emotion and words sufficient to express them. Thanks Anais
five years later i find this song again tonight and it fights like a key into the part of my soul that works to connect me with the rest of humanity, this human experience. oh, how these songs are sacred.
She reminds me in a way, of when Nanci Griffith was young, not exactly, but I love her voice, and writing, small, but so dynamic and strong at the same time.
@PoetryAddict8 Well, thanks to You I also discovered Joanna. But yes, Anais is also interesting to listen. And then there is... Priscilla Ahn with, for example, a song named Dream, if anybody has the wish to broaden the spectrum of unique female singers...
This song will be part of my funeral playlist. Absolutely beautiful.

God this song puts me at ease. I saw her open for Ani Difranco awhile ago and I've been such a fan ever since! Anais you are EVERYTHING!

@Smilegyrl222
I love her... Very haunting
Like holy FUCK. I can't even contain this. This hasn't happened since Joanna Newsom two years ago....
Her voice is odd and pixie-like. This isn't a bad thing. Joshua James, another folk singer I like also has an unusual, unconventional voice.
Eh?
