In a lifetime of loving singer/songwriter music, starting with early Dylan and Paxton and Newman, John Hartford, JT on Apple and Paul Simon, Donovan, Croce, Lightfoot, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, the other Mitchell, Rickie Lee, etc., there's not one album better than The Brightness. Stands equally beside any of the greats' best efforts. Her other albums, Hymns for the Exiled, and Hadestown are brilliant works, would be the best of many artists' catalogs.
