    French toast is literally how the French preserved stale bread, using stale bread just means you’re making it as accurate to the original recipe as possible :)

      Yeah but the fun thing is that it actually tastes better if it is made from stale bread compared to fresh bread.

      When I make french toasts I only use a stale bread. And also I use the bread I bake myself. I don’t like those loafs that are sold in marts.

    • @lynnm6413

      yeah, but the French attitude towards 'stale' means baked yesterday.
      The baker comes through the village in a car and has a certain time at each corner and a bell so that everyone knows when to get their baguettes and croissants.
      that is a daily routine

      Fun fact the modern French Toast originates in Germany however the German-french toast originated in Rome and then you could even go further back after that and find out what the Roman one originated in so at the end of the day French toast isn't French toast and the French toast that you eat isn't even French toast because you're supposed to soak the bread for at least 15 minutes to make authentic French toast at least The authentic French toast in France which is only German imported French toast

      I actually have a theory. Hes just a good researcher and charismatic as fuck.
      Most of the companies he gets "secrets" from are public companies. To keep other companies from making the same stuff you do, you patent designs get copyrights etc.
      Most of these are publicly accessible you just gotta put in the requests or what have you.
      Im pretty sure Jordan here just stumbled onto the right website database or office that had all these fast food recipe secrets and thats where all the "secrets" come from. The rest of his knowledge base is either people he knows who work for these places and wiki.
      Cause idk how anyone has worked that many jobs. Dude has insider workers at actual places and then knows where to find the publicly accessible, but not advertised information.
      He probably still gets people at these companies emailing him asking where he gets the secrets, but they probably dont realize themselves that its publicly accessible cause theyre actually not super high up just social media people.

    French here, what you call French toast is named « pain perdu » in France : literally means « lost bread » because it is indeed a way to recycle stale, hard bread, being baguette or other. The hard bread sits for some time in the milk-egg-sugar mixture and it softens it up, but if you wanna make it with fresh bread (especially sliced milk bread) just dip it once so it doesn’t become mushy or litterally fall apart

    • @Belastimo
      @Belastimo 9 місяців тому

      If you're hitting the bakery up for bread to use soonest, ask them for their day-old bread. Depending on texture of the bread, it will be perfect. If it's not day-old, you lightly toast it (toast it on the lightest setting, so it doesn't brown the bread, it will just dry it a little), or you put it in the oven at 200-250F for about 15 minutes & then let it sit until it's cool - make sure it gets air on the bottom side, so that side is not soggy. 😉 This is also how I do the bread for home-made croutons / stuffing minus the seasoning. 😊

    Whenever I make challah bread I make two loaves. One is the eating loaf that I let cool completely before slicing. The other is the French toast loaf, you cut it as soon as it comes out so it gets super dense and then I leave it out over night and make French toast with it the next morning. Makes it a lot more spongy in the final product if you do it that way. Also pro tip if you ever have stale bread you’re not gonna eat or use for French toast, cut it into cubes and make it into croutons in your oven.
