    The legacy is not a "dad car" or "mom car". It's a car that blends in everywhere you go. It's a car that looks just as good in a high end neighborhood as it does in a lower income neighborhood. It doesn't draw attention or look out of place. It's nice.

    I own one!! 2018 legacy ice blue BLK leather bad ass, it's OK fast, but it's AWD and living in Michigan this is a much needed option. I was looking at both the legacy and the Fusion, think depreciation now you know why I went with the legacy. I really LOVE the cruise control, I cant say enough about this car, when stuck in traffic the car slows itself down to a stop then when the traffic starts moving again the car does too and back to the set speed. I also thought it was an old mans car, but after riding in it you will quickly see it's not! Over all I can't get enough of the vehicle and I am glad I bought it! can you say 100K miles or 10 years bumper to bumper warranty covering everything but the tires. why buy a FORD?

    Having owned a 2005 Legacy GT back in the day, I have to say, this video made me really sad. They USED to make fun cars/wagons .. now we get this. The automotive equivalent of a microwave. You get in, push a button, you get where you're going, then it's done. Zero engagement in everything they make except the WRX/STi, which are still several miles behind their competitors. Toyota ruined Subaru.

      Ahh, such a great and unassuming car they were.. especially after a tune. I threw a set of adjustable coilovers, a larger intercooler, and a Cobb dyno-tune on mine, and it was quite fun to embarrass people on the street and the autocross course with my mundane grocery-getting family sedan.

    Well, after a string of hot cars, it was understandable you guys review a "anonymous" car. Not to say the Subie isn't competent or a capable sedan, but no one will do a double take when it goes by. You guys make the review of the Legacy more enjoyable than the car deserves. :-)

  • @YasumotoUS
    @YasumotoUS 6 років тому +2

    Huh. I guess being dad-aged (no kids) helps me to appreciate that the Legacy bodywork appears to be stretched in all the right places in the front 2/3 with a modest tail end. I get the same gut reaction seeing a Legacy as I do the previous gen Honda Accord (one of the best Accord designs when compared against the newest "design"): A well balanced exterior that's pleasing enough to the eye and not edgy / polarizing enough to be an outdated visual train wreck in a few years (see "Toyota Camry").
    Frankly, I see these things all of the time when I'm on the roads in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic and I appreciate them for what they are: highly practical, reliable, usable and a very smart buy for the average worker who needs reliable automotive transport across four seasons.
    Subaru continues to remove barriers for buyers, too, with their efforts to update their head units into the smart phone compatibility era.

  • @LJG999ab
    @LJG999ab 6 років тому +11

    OK. The steering IS responsive- road feel however is not what one would expect of a sports car or a sportier sedan like the Mazda 6. Handling is controlled, predictable and inspires confidence. The CVT is among the best available and does well enough simulating normal shifting while helping fuel economy.
    Acceleration is good- not great and probably slower than most in its class. AWD makes a significant traction and drivability difference in all kinds of weather- particularly snow and rain. Safety appears integral to its design and comfort as the reviewers stated is excellent. In adverse conditions or challenging roads- there is no car I would rather own.
    Visibility is among the best. Interiors are attractive, well laid out- but not opulent. The Infotainment Center is superb.
    As for styling-the car is handsome and conservative- competitive with older versions of the Accord and Camry. Newer versions of the Accord and Camry are sportier- but not necessarily more attractive or practical.
    I think its target market are families that want a safe,. predictable and comfortable sedan.

    The legacy 3.6r has been clocked to go mid 6's 0-60mph on forums stock at high 14's 1/4 at 96mph. Is it fast? No but it def is not slow. 2015 Ford Focus St which is considered not slow at all and is sporty has a trap speed of 94mph according to motortrend at 6.5 seconds 0-60mph. So on the highway, the legacy 3.6r is decent. Also, this video complains about the screen that shows mph. That little screen also shows, song names, tire pressure on each wheel, compass, and navigation routes. Video also doesn't mention adaptive cruise control. So you could drive this car in traffic in cruise control and the car can brake for you and keeps a distance between cars with it's cameras. Video finally complains of the CVT. You drive any car out the there with a CVT, and this car is one of the best. Subaru makes one of the best CVT's on the market. Don't knock it until you try it.

Excellent family vehicle that is quite, comfortable, safe and show be reliable (at least more so than the Atlas we were also considering). When we started looking the outback wasn’t on the radar for use, we had initially test drove only the Ascent and Forester but came back a couple days later to have another look at the Forester when I asked my salesman about discounts on the Outback. We ended up getting $7k off the Outback which sealed the deal.

    These cars are not sold as fast sports cars, they are not aiming at that market. By not squeezing more and more power out of the H6 engine makes them reliable and effortless to drive, it’s a road trip vehicle for sure, you can jump in these, drive for days and be assured you’ll get from A to B with no dramas and in comfort.
    If your looking to buy a new car, I would never preach about these and go on and on about them, but what I would say is, don’t overlook them, it’ll do exactly what it says on the tin.

      I rented a new Nissan Altima recently for a week. I was surprised, I didn't mind the CVT. It drove pretty decent. I also drove an Outback with the 2.5 and the CVT was laggy in the lower gears. But was fine once it got going. I would want the 3.6 to consider a Legacy or Outback. The Maxima is also pretty quick and the CVT is decent when you have more power. You can feel the pull and seems to be little lag.

      Just get use to the revs when in M mode for CVT's, get use to the gears and the way they change automatically and emulate that with the paddles while in manual mode for CVT's, allot of people are having problems with the CVT and I don't understand it, just don't drive it like a standard 6 speed transmission and drive it like it has 2 clutches and 8 gears!!! first 3-4 gears are going to be high in range last 3-4 gears will be more spread out in range.

    Compare to Volvo Sedan seat and this, which one is more comfortable?

      Enai Nakai I think this is the most comfortable. Volvo was more of a firm comfortable but this is a soft comfort. Also being able to rest both elbows and have both hands on the wheel.

    I bought the 4 cyl version. These guys pretty much hit it on the head, though I disagree with their comments on the steering. It's not sporty. It doesn't need whiplash steering. The turning radius is awesome. It is the ultimate road trip car though. Great mileage, I drove from raleigh nc to buffalo. Probably the most comfortable trip I've taken.
