    If you don't know about Viktor Fasth and his story, look him up. He made his debut at the SHL level 28 years old and played until last season when he was 38, won a couple of Swedish Championships and managed to play in the NHL and KHL. Thats someone you can take inspiration from!

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  2 роки тому +1

      Really? He didn’t play SHL till 28?

    • @JimmTheSwede
      @JimmTheSwede 2 роки тому +3

      @@trav4oilers Nope! He was a real late bloomer. All of a sudden he exploded in Allsvenskan, got to the SHL, continuing playing great, got a shot at the national team (never played for team Sweden at any junior level), excelled even more and went over to play in the NHL and KHL before finishing in the SHL. World Championship medals, SHL-titels and awards.
      He's a real inspiration when it comes to "it's never too late".

    Trav, I've been playing goalie for 48 years and I hate every goal that scores and try to improve every time I'm on the ice (3x per week). (I also lived in Umea for a year and skated with Teg.) You have the critical element for success: attitude. Can't do it on talent alone. You need the heart. Keep being an inspiration.

    I could be wrong but from watching you over the years I feel like an emphasis on defense has never been apart of your teams. Always high scoring games, which makes me to believe the results are a lot about of what's in front of you. And honestly as a hockey fan, a goalie is only as good as the team in front of him, I firmly believe that. You've made great strides in your career over the years. You're hard on yourself but I thought you looked pretty solid thru the tryout so far. The team just need to see game day Trav and its a lock

    Your love of big ships, trains, planes must be a 'goalie' thing, as those are my favorite fascinations too, which so called normal people can't understand. I watch huge cruise ships, yachts, military ships, sailing ships pass in front of my balcony daily during the summer months here in the Balkans, where I live permanently now. By the way, I'm from the great hockey town of Muskegon, Michigan where many famous NHL, IHL played and some stayed after retiring. Very long hockey history there!

    My opinion. The only way to get to this level with this Norway team is to gain experience. These practices are showing you what you need to improve your game. Worst case scenario if you didn't make the cut, at least you can go back to Sweden knowing what you have to work on. Either way your are improving your game and improving yourself in the crease. You are in a really good spot right now regardless. Keep up the good work brother. Merry Christmas

    You looked good in 2 of your 3 practices. You know you need work which shows you have a head for the game. You could use to be a bit more explosive cross crease. But after that first practice you stopped getting beat on routine low stuff. You mostly just got beat on corner picking shot and cross crease passes. Those are high percentage places where you are going to get beat a lot. Seemed like you made a pretty good showing for yourself. Every reason to be positive with the results.

      Give him time! Trav is such an environmental person, and what I mean by that is he has to be in a upbeat positive environment to succeed. Not too mention it sounds like he makes a crazy amount of money that definitely adds stress to his situation. Wait until he’s in a environment that uplifts him because he’s a guy you want in your locker room. Someone needs to trust him. Ya know he may not be as fast but, he has what a lot people don’t have and that’s never giving up and doing everything in his power become a better goalie. He puts more then 100% of effort in everything and he more grit and balls then a lot of fucking people. I believe in you Trav

      He's not getting better. He got a dose of reality in his tryout in Norway. He himself admitted it. Trav is basically a men's league level goalie who try to promote himself as a Pro. He's too slow, bad glove hand, don't challenge shooters, etc. And with his groin injury lingering and never heal properly, I doubt he will ever get better. Yes, his videos are usually entertaining, but lots of half truths in what he says and wishful thinking. But he needs to do that to keep his followers watching and keep his revenues going. He's making good money, but not crazy amounts or he wouldn't do all these pubs and begging for money. Expensive living in Sweden or Norway with no real job.

    Well, yes the speed is faster the shoots are more precise but the goal is’nt bigger. You dont need huge changes Trav, you need smal ones.
    A post in blocker shoot we are Talkin like 20cm depth adjustment instead of hours on hours reflex training. I know you could play a high Level of hockey but you need to start looking on your game diffrent. What someone else is doing and What someone else is doing good dont matter, its not you. Find your game and make smal changes that fit your style of playing. Roy, Belfour, Hasek, they didnt copy they adjusted and they were great.

      This is the second tier of pro in Norway. The top league in Norway is decent compared to other countries top leagues, but not comparable to SHL. Norway2 is comparable to around the FPHL, maybe a bit better, and it’s way better than the league that Trav was playing in before

      @@Alex_Forlini Thanks for the info. The good thing is the team did not allow Trav to have a cam on the ice as he was working out with the team, with no distractions. Trav said that this team is in a better league than his old team and they were better shooters, etc. and he has to work on his game, less camera time more concentration on being a goalie.
