Blake Randle yes my language is somali
my parents are Kenyan and I dont speak swahili :(
@@tkSZN04 so what do you speak?
@Amal Sulub you speak somali
Blake Randle : No past or future tenses, either! You just add that, with one word!
I can't stop saying ninafuraha kukutana na wewe! Something so melodic about it.

Consider learning the Kiswahili spoken in Tanzania as well. The Tanzanian version is more 'formal'.
I’m a preschool teacher and I work with a Swahili child. I’m doing this for him ❤️ he speaks English but I think I would be fun to say a few sentences in his language
how did that turn out for you ? btw you're a great teacher from the sound of it
I speak swahili and English
First world problems 😅😅
It's strange, but this language sounds so easy to learn and to pronounce for me. I'm from Peru, and I speak Spanish and English. Why does your language feel so natural to me!?? I love it! 😍💖
I can teach you if you like
I am from Tanzania now I am in Hungary welcome
Jo Jo It could be in your past life, that you spoke this language.
@@stephenmiller3965 Or because the more languages someone knows, the easier it is to learn another. Even if the languages aren't similar there's still an advantage from understanding grammar and the functions of each part of the sentence.
I have realized many things are similar to Spanish, the spelling & vowels Swahili followed the Spanish spelling & pronunciation, but not with the Alphabet which they took from English. It was written in Arabic text before.
Because your Ancestors are from Africa
My Russian heart has melted after I heard this beautiful language! I'll learn it. Definitely!

Putting Swahili aside, without any jokes or fluttering, she is so beautiful. Oh Damn!
She is beautiful and such a pleasant personality. I think in general African people are some the most gracious people on Earth.
her hair is just perfect
Indeed yes
Swahili is one of the most melodic languages i have heard yet. It has a sort of rhythm to it that makes it so attractive. I hope to learn more soon!
Ninafuraha kukutana na wewe
Well it's so melodious :)
but more correctly nafuraha kukukutana !
Olivia Janz Kordell hakuna matata madafaka XD ok sorry it was a bad joke

+Angel Angelov oh bro... that made my day
Nice
I'm a white British guy, but I have always found African languages pretty cool. Swahili is probably my favourite one and I wouldn't mind learning it one day. I love language and wanted to learn some European and Asian languages, so I think it would be good to learn an African one too. I'm learning Japanese at the moment. If i had to learn an African language, then I would learn Swahili.
I really want to learn this language :)

I live in Oman and many people speak Swahili there as a secondary language after Arabic.. Beautiful language
really? I didn't know arabic people use to speak swahili, is there an explanation?
@@972streetdance Most Arabs don't (only Omanis do), Swahili was basically established in Zanzibar when it was a famous trading port, and Oman use to have possession of Zanzibar and kept many slaves. Now that Zanzibar is with Tanzania, some of the people left and went to Oman, that's why they have the same language. The Swahili of Zanzibar was officially chosen by all of the other countries about 100 years ago as the main and perfect version of Swahili, all of the others are considered dialects.

thank you for posting videos like these, I'm a 34 year old Jamaican of African descent that speaks english....the other day it struck me, I am of African descent, yet don't know how to speak any African languages....slavery was an atrocity & it's effects are still around, I wish African Language & History was taught more worldwide, many of us need to be more Pro-African.
Im South African ,Im tsonga , I also know some African Languges spoken in my country like tswana , Zulu , venda , xhosa , and swahili sounds a bit familiar ,I can learn it very fast , like wewe is sounds similar to wena ,which has the same meaning "you " , I think at some point we Africans used to speak the same language , infact ,the whole world , cos even in Europe neighbouring countries speak kinda similar languages , like German and dutch in Netherlands , languges are still evolving , of that im 100% sure
Yes, almost all languages in Europe (with notable exceptions of Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian) are direct descendents of the same language. (including Afrikaans, of course) In fact, even the most common languages in India, Pakistan, Afganistan and Iran belong to the same family, stemming from the same language about 5500 years ago. (here's a cool map: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Indo-European_branches_map.png)
This is mainly evidenced by the similarities of some words. For example, the Hindi word for door is dvār, and name is nām, and dead is mŗta (related to English mortal and murder). All words not borrowed from Europe, but evolved from Sanskrit, the "Latin" of India.
As for the African languages you mentioned, I did some quick and dirty research on Wikipedia and found that they all belong to the Bantu language family. So you were right! The common ancestor is estimated 2500-3000 years ago, or about 5000 according to some sources.
Here's another cool map showing the general distribution: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:African_language_families.png
Yes even Zulus call the tongue lulimi in Swahili its called ulimi
Joel Gichane Hi,
It is interesting how we share similar words. I hope this will make Swahili learning much easier for you.
Medina
Hulk They are all a group called Bantu cuz all of them use "ntu" sound for a person, their languages are more similar if you speak swahili if a Zulu talks slow you will catch a lot of similarities.
Kinyarwanda is also very similar:
Wowe-Wena-You
Inzu-Indlu-House
Inyama-inyama-meat
Inyoni-inyoni-bird
Umuntu-umuntu-person
Marume-malume-maternal uncle
Ingwe-ingwe-leopard

Learning other languages, one may realize how relatively easy English is.
English is one of the most difficult languages to learn properly. Peal, peel, two, too, no, know, for example.
Pet Cemetery beer and bear are pronounced very differently though!
"How easy English is" boy is THAT a lie!
@@IHandy-uq8od NOT TRUE AT ALL. Just bcause they sound alike doesn't mean it makes it easier. It makes it confusing bwcause how would you know which word is which? Yes you can say context but if you only heard the sound used in one way and then suddenly hear it in a whole other way you'd be confused as all hell. On top of that, reading is a nessesity- ESPECIALLY for English no matter where you go and it just gets worst. So not it doesn't make it an easy language, the language is still difficult no matter what.
If you think English is even close to hard, you're in for a shock if you ever try to learn other languages 👀

Thank you lovely lady for teaching me some Swahili.
It all depend where you go in Kenya, if you stay round the tourist area you will here most of these words from all the lessons. But if you go in to town many different dialects are used, just like here in England, we have Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle al different dialect and hard to understand. It is just the same in Kenya.
dont worry i will teach you swahili
Yess you are very correct we have sheng(unofficial swahili)
True,. No one will say "Jambo" and "Shikamoo" to you in Nairobi. They are too formal and used mainly in school and to an extent along the coast.

Will learning Kenyan swahili be very different from Congolese swahili?
+Gabrielle Robinson
I assume Congolese Swahili will have more French loanwords and its own distinct differences. Fortunately, because it's one language, learning one dialect and switching to another is very doable.
+Gabrielle Robinson Hi Gabrielle,
Kenyan Swahili and Congolese Swahili are related and so some words will be the same but some will be different especially the tenses. When you know Kenyan Swahili which is the universal version, you will definitely be able to understand, write and read all other versions of Swahili. swahilipod101.com is dedicated in making sure you enjoy your swahili learning experience.

Let no one lie to you that Kenyan Swahili is the universal version of this language. I can tell you that all Kenyans admire how Tanzanians speak Swahili which means Tanzanian Swahili is more the same as when you talk about British English. Kenyans don't even understand when they meet with Tanzanians (given that their dialect is heavily influenced by their mother-tongues. You wanna learn Swahili? Find a Tanzanian friend who will teach you. The Swahili spoken by Congolese is really mixed with French forms, so it's not quite easy to know Swahili language in Congo
