    Thank you for a very straight forward method. Your tip about using 2 safety pins with the task is genius and I'll be using it for other things involving elastic in tubes of fabric too in future. Thanks again ❤️

    So far I have made 3, 2 of which were sewn just now. The only bit I struggle with is the sewing of the ends of the elastic using the sewing machine, so I overstitched by hand. I am no seamstress by any means, but I am quite pleased with myself, I just hope our little granddaughter likes them and they fit her 🫢❤️🤣

    The best scrunchie video I've seen! Do you think I can just do a knott of the elastic? I always have trouble sewing it when it's that small.

    • @AdventuresofaDIYMom
      @AdventuresofaDIYMom  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, I think a knot would work. I would do a square knot to avoid it coming undone after it's all sewn together.

    I am a new sewer here. When I do the final step and sew it together my sewing machine always gets jammed. I then have to open it up, cut my scrunchie off the bundle of knots and start over:( do you know why it does that? Is it the tension? What is your tension set at?

    • @AdventuresofaDIYMom
      @AdventuresofaDIYMom  4 роки тому +6

      It's hard to know without being able to see what's happening. It's possible the tension is off (I keep mine at 3, but all machines are different - try sewing on some scrap fabric and adjust the tension back and forth to see what the best setting is for your machine) Another possibility could be that the machine is not threaded correctly. The last thing I can think of is that the feed dogs (the little teeth that pull the fabric through) aren't working correctly. Sometimes with smaller projects, the fabric can be pulled down into the feed dogs causing jams. Try to gently pull the fabric through as you're sewing to prevent this. I hope one of these suggestions help. If anyone else has other ideas that would be helpful, please comment!

    • @athenaswann7409
      @athenaswann7409 4 роки тому +1

      Mine did that at first too

    • @RebelSwiftie13
      @RebelSwiftie13 4 роки тому

      It could be the needle too. I had problems with that when I first started sewing, I changed the needle to the next strength up and it hasn't done it since. There's certain needles you need for the certain fabric you're using. Look at your manual and it will tell you what to use.

    • @riel8428
      @riel8428 4 роки тому

      Sometimes the little piece the bobbin sits in can get twisted and kicked around, open it up and make sure it's in the right place. If it's messed up it can tangle the thread really bad and force it to stop sewing.

    • @manjirosano1138

      Taylor Wolf whenever the scrunchies is on the final step make sure to back stitch it and cut the remaining line

  • @apriladelewhyte
    @apriladelewhyte 4 роки тому +1

    It's easier to turn casings like this if you put a ruler/pencil/chopstick/long straight stick like object etc.
    You just start to turn the first part over and the use the stick to push everything else through.
    You probably know this trick already but If not, it's a useful thing to know. 😊 It's great for turning narrow casings like when you make straps for a top.

    • @AdventuresofaDIYMom

    • @AdventuresofaDIYMom
      @AdventuresofaDIYMom  3 роки тому +2

      For this, I just used the edge of the presser foot as a guide. Or you could use the first line. As long as you have around 1/4 inch or larger seam, so it doesn’t come undone when turning, it will work fine.
