End of the day it’s not supposed to be the same as a traditional squat so I don’t quite get the point of this video, on the flip side if you suffer from a damaged back for eg a slipped disc and can’t squat a normal bar on your back loaded up with weights then the belted squat is excellent
If you watched the video I never say its suppose to be the same as a traditional squat. In the context of a powerlifter using it to improve their squat pattern it is not very useful due to the way its being executed... which was again, explained in the video.
@@bridgefordstrength7967but it’s not supposed to be an assistance exercise for the squat, it’s designed as a supplemental HSF lift for hypertrophying the quads and increasing your strength ceiling. It’s movement pattern similarity is arbitrary in this context
@@bridgefordstrength7967yeah I think he missed the point of the video. This video was to help use this machine to help better replicate a tradition squat. Very helpful video.
Just started using this machine and find that it certainly hits very different to the squat which is what I like. No spine compression great quad activator and variety a must.
This guy seems to underrate the fact that low bar squatters squat with vertical shins and he underrates the idea of less mileage for more gainz i.e. the spinal decompression benefits of belt squats
As a general life principle and self-preservation tactic, I never talk shit to someone with cauliflower ear. So allow me to say, sir, I believe your title was excellent for generating clicks (it drew me in) and I mostly agree with the statements. Torso loading is an excellent way to re-engage the trunk without exposing it to such extreme loads. The belt squat is incredible for de-loading the spine while still pushing the lower body to develop strength/power. I've played around with KBs and weighted vests in a similar fashion.
Hahahaha thank you sir. It seems others failed to grasp the context of what I was explaining in the video. The belt squat is not a bad machine by any means at all, and is one of my favorites seeing as I purchased one in the limited space I had. Specifically how I typically see them executed by many raw powerlifters does not carry over well to a "competition style" squat.
Squats used to be my favorite exercise but unfortunately, Father Time caught up with me and the belt squat is the next best thing. I think the title threw some people off because for many, the belt squat is the BOMB.
It's meant to iso the leg muscles without compression on the back. My question is if she wanted more quads in the squat movement why did she just not narrow her stance. If you are doing barbell squat or belt squat more quads will be used with a narrow stance vs a wide stance.
Board press probably isn't as effective as full range bench but they give your shoulders a break. The belt squat does the same with your back by not loading your spine.
Same goes for any leg specific movement for hypertrophy really. Lot of ways to train hack squat and leg press and whatever else wrong if you don't choose the right angles and placement specific to what you're using it as an accessory for.
The downside with the belt squat compared to a free squat is that the gluteus don't get hit as hard, or that's atleast what has been seen in EMG studies, the activity was the same in the quadriceps though. Anyways, as someone with a disc hearniation at C6C7 and facet joint syndrome in my lumbar spine it's my only squat option.
Is it good for a guy with a fucked up back & two suspect shoulders that just wants to squat. Or would you recommend the hack squat over the belt squat?
So du u recomend the rhino belt squat or other belt squat?? I don't do any more barbell squating do to 2 buldgimg disk in lower back so I really would like to get a belt squat. I was going to build my own leverage arm belt squat but people keep telling me they are not the good do to how they pull you forward, however other people like the leverage arm belt squts
Which one do you guys is easier/better for bad knees? Anyways I ended up buying the rhino but after having it for a week I thinks is just overkill just for squats:( I showed my wife the squat max and she liked it cause she can do hip thrust, has the pad for seal rows and loved the seat and it's way smaller than rhino. She says rhino too big just for belt squats. Lol
Omg DO NOT BELIEVE this people! What the actual fudge man. I've never seen such full of BS before & I'm being dead serious🤣 Benefit of belt squat compare to BB squat: 1. Minimal back usage (you can train your back or core with other workouts) 2. Extremely NATRUAL MOVEMENT PATTERN that your body can just naturally progress & squat a lot lot more! 3. Minimal systemic fatigue means that you can literally destroy your legs & fall down the strairs (not kidding so be careful!). 4. Easier to rack & re-rack. 5. Are way way more safer than BB squat. 6. You can progress overload easily given that your strap can bare the weights you're lifting. 7. GREAT for bodybuilders who actually wants to grow lower body. Conclusion: BB squat Just add the use of core & increase systemic fatigue (not good). BB squat are for powerlifters not for bodybuilders to great extent. Just because the belt squat is easier on your back doesn't mean bad. It's so overrated because it's spine friendly? I have been doing belt squat a lot now I squat 595 for 14 NATURAL!! Hack squat & leg press are just a no no. My only focus is to get my glutes bigger but also ended up having big quads but heyhoo. The belt squat are also very very overrated because you can go closer or farther from the machine to emphasize on different leg muscles or glutes. It is a freaking amazing machine!!

I agree its a pointless comparison. Its like saying why a leg press is overrated for squatting or hack squat machine.
@@bridgefordstrength7967well thats obvious. Pointless video

Smooth brain
You can shorten the cable for short people by adjusting the hook height…
Wow I never thought of that in all of my years of owning this machine.

Yep and you can go to failure easier. I like belt squats. Use them once a week and bar squat once a week.
Disagree

With the squatmax you can do no thrusts
Depends on the machine also. Some have adjustable connections to set the load in a way that biases towards the posterior muscles or the quads.
squat wide and sit back- glutes will be dominant

You should watch the video again and actually listen to the context.
This dude is lost…Belt squat is phenomenal.
You could even so a split squat for more quads. To your point this is more for a person that wants to iso muscle groups in the legs and not powerlift.

Don’t get the Lever Belt Squat. You’re probably better with a bells of steel or a SquatMaxMD. Squatting with a lever arm is very inefficient.
@@dean7700 thank you. I ended up getting the rhino
thanks for the tips.

I sold my squat max md after a year of owning it! I find free squatting and pendulum squats transfer better!
For home gym should I do leg press/hack squat machine or belt squat?
Belt squat
smarter people then you say otherwise mr 1.5k subs
Love the foul language from a guy who can't get a sentence out without running out of breath. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Rage bait video ,thats it
This was helpful as I’m new to the belt squat.
Try to put a 10 lb plate on your heal elevate your foot lot more vertical to do a squat
Dude this was amazing. This made me look at the belt squat completely different
Use squat machine that solves issue
Such a good breakdown of all the stupid stuff people do with the squat to make it non-athletic. Thanks
So, a goblet squat..
Wow... I'm an avid belt squatter and this makes so much sense. Thank you!
