Not sure why some people on social media berated Lionel's performance. He could've taken the easy way out and lip-synced, but he went out there and sang his heart out. At 73, Lionel Ritchie still gave a top notch performance! Keep up the great work, Lionel!

It's more an example of when older artists really aren't upto the standard any more but various pressures and contractual obligations mean they end up getting pushed into doing shows when they should be retired,which just hurts their reputation as a performer. Yeah...the voice goes as one gets older...David Lee Roth can only talk/sing now and Phil Collins can only talk/whisper/sing and I get it he has health complications, but it is more his age....as long as die hard fans can enjoy them in this state all is well, but I for one would not spend the time and money to see these old geezers....

I haven't heard him sing live before, and he sang well, except for going flat a few times in _All Night Long_ (even with in-ear monitors), and I think he overdid the added, rushed "instructions" to the audience to join in, which didn't seem to work with the tight phrasing.

And you're right he raised millions wt King Charles for years to help kids. An old friend called on him & he darn well delivered.

We watched it here in Hamamatsu (Japan) and it was the first time that I saw all the company directors, senior staff, engineers and specialists singing together in a very long time. I'd say that was a success.
