    Getting killed by Hippo isn't really that surprising, Hippos are massive with giant teeth, even to this day the amount of people killed by hippos are staggering plus considering that Egyptian civilization was built around a river getting killed by one wouldn't be unheard of.

    • @suelane3628
      @suelane3628 6 років тому +6

      I understand the problem is that both humans and hippos use water. Normally hippos mind their own business. However if you accidentally go between a mother and her calf things can go horribly wrong and do.

      Because they knew better. People get killed by hippos by being in hippo territory. Hippos aren't breaking into homes and just killing. If a human gets killed by a hippo, it's the humans fault.

    • @gregdowle8031

      Getting close enough to it to be killed? They obviously knew the animals were really dangerous but he may have thought that because he was Pharoah, the animal wouldn't harm him or he could tell it what to do. Hence the assumption he was crazy. You're welcome.

    Menes, or Narmer, may not have actually been killed by a hippo. The hippo was an Egyptian symbol of death. It could be just a poetic way of saying "he croaked."

    • @darknessanddistance4469
      @darknessanddistance4469 5 років тому +7

Ascension to the to throne and monotheism being squashed, he changed, or was forced to change, his name.)

      I was going to say the same thing about Cleopata, her supposed great beauty is nothing more than a myth and probably dates from the Victorian era where lots of myths about things from the past came about. At any rate, historical evidence suggests that Cleopatra was likely rather homely in appearance but was supposed to have been very intelligent.

    i remember reading or seeing something once about the eyeliner.apparently egyptian and persians are often depicted with eyeliner not as a fashion accessory, but because they would paint black around there eyes to prevent sunburn, they would (and still do in many parts) wear the classic turban which would wrap across the face, then the only bare skin on show would be the areas around the eyes, so with the turban wrap off they would appear to have eyeliner and eyeshadow

    Atenism carried on with Smenkhkare and then Tutankhaten. As Tutankhaten was young, he was probably in the charge of Grand Vizier Ay (and subsequent Pharaoh). It was then his name was changed to Tutankhamen. In fact there are references to the Aten in Tut's tomb.

Look at historical documents to include genetic testing of the Egyptians of past and present the amount of African DNA is very small. While Africans have a rich culture dating back millennia they never built any large structure or other technologically advanced items. The continent is the birthplace of modern man so you got that going for you at least.

      I read a paper on her beauty as it was reported by Cleopatra's contemporaries, and she got mixed reviews. Beauty is, after all, in the eyes of the beholder. However, had she not been pretty to look at, her enemies would've made use of that to insult her, but instead Lucan wrote warnings of her "harmful beauty." Compared to Octavia, several remarked that Octavia was prettier and a more dutiful wife, yet Antony spurned her for Cleopatra.
      Regardless, Antony didn't fall for her for beauty, writing that he was most taken by her charm and wit.
      Bonus fact #1: Cleopatra's peers also remarked at her voice, which was apparently a pleasing thing to hear. Let's face it. Girlfriend was a triple threat.
      Bonus fact #2: She was of Greek heritage, not Egyptian. She wasn't a "Nubian princess" like people seem to think.

      Ancient coins, which back then were always made to look as close to the person as possible. A lot of ancient texts describing her and talking about her were found and studied too. She was no "conventional" beauty but they did agree that she was very intelligent, charming, witty, willing to "perform" and had a special aura about her that sucked people in.
      I was just watching an interesting documentary about her, Cesar and Mark Anthony a couple of days ago.

      Nume Moon - She was from a group of ancient Greeks who were really from a Kemitic origin and ancestry. they were most closely, similar to the 'Typhonians'.....and were a Black people.
      You can see this evident --- in ALL ancient Greek teachings and philosophies (i.e. the 7 Universal Hermetic Laws...WHICH WERE REALLY EGYPTIAN IN ORIGIN....and were all originally the teachings and 'Laws of Thoth' or 'Tehuti' - and i believe, the Kemites had a complete '12 Universal Laws' ---- and this is but 1 of copious examples), all ancient 'Greek deities' and Mythos, were a mere duplication of the ancient Kemitic deities and Mythologies, and finally (one last example, out of a plethora, i could describe to you, where the Greeks usurped and emulated ancient Kemetic culture), is the 'Greek alphabet' as we understand it today, and its language --- all of which are from an Egyptian origin; the alphabet is closely associated to 'Coptic' (which is also, where the English language and ITS alphabet, was primordially formed).
      The thing was, that there were many mystery schools and priesthoods, and a diversity of ancient Egyptian languages(which formed many later languages, such as even - "Hebrew" and the 'Hebraic alphabet' .....which was designed to look like "flames of a FIRE").
      *Note: Although 'Hebrew' is a Greek term, the ACTUAL Hebraic language and its alphabet, was cryptographically formed by a secret renegade Egyptian priesthood, who tried to conceal a lot of ancient Kemetic Knowledge and gnosis.....from foreign invading forces and conquerors.
      So, ancient Greek society had predominantly, derived from ancient Kemet (which is called 'Egypt' today - but is really a Greek name, "Aegyptos" - for Kemet. 'Cairo' is yet, another Greek name for Kemet's city, and it literally translates to 'Mars').
      All of the things you wrote and mentioned --- that i've read --- i just wanted to say, i found interesting and really insightful!
      Hope i didn't bore you with my verbosity in writing! LoL..... :- )
