A stopper!! That's what that little thing is!. Lol! Thanks Lindsay!!
watercolor is so cool because you can be slightly sloppy and it looks beautiful
U r a good teacher. I am just starting at 75 and I find ur videos very helpful. Thank u.
I'm here like "how do you make those messy lines"
Amber M
These little paintings are a great help to me as a beginner. Thanks so much for your time and inspiration.
Thank you, Lindsay. Your explantions are great, especially for us newbies. I bet it was a beautiful experience just to see those beautiful colors, smelling the pines, and hearing the water lapping onto the beach.
Please do more tutorials like these! I find them very helpful! Great job by the way!
I love you happy chatter as you help us create! It's so much fun. I have a long way to go, but I am not one to quit. Watercolor is so much different than oil painting; which is what I started years ago. It's quite a struggle, but I always search for your tutorials. You are very good, and I never lose hope for myself! Thank you so much, Lindsay!
OMG, Lindsay! This is a cool card! Thanks for sharing!! 🥰👍🏾
love this sketch Lindsey, I think you used all my favourite colours ...very calming to look at! thank you 🌺🌹🏵🏵🌹🌸💐
Thank you for sharing, this is the sweetest little painting!
Love how the painting turned out and you did it so fast! Thanks for the great video!
Great quick video Lindsay! 😆
I absolutely love landscape paintings on watercolor and this video inspired me to keep doing more. Thank you so much for making this video. ♥
Thank you, thank you!! I so enjoyed this video since I have the same pallet and found this to be a true beginner tutorial. I really enjoy your channel and tell crafty friends about you all the time. I'm so excited that you might do more easy watercolor tutorials like this one.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I loved that painting so much I paused it and tried to copy it. I just got back home from a one month vacation in Western Maine and I am very homesick. Please keep the tutorials coming! I love them. You are teaching me soooo much!
I love this series I hope you keep doing more all the time
You make it look so easy Lindsay! Thanks so much for the tutorial - lovely painting!
Thank you for this! So well shown and explained! Your tip from earlier to be loose not tight is helpful. I have the Koi set and one of the watercolor postcards that fit in the easel lid. I hope to try this painting shortly. I am trying to make the commitment to paint or what least make art of some type every day! I am reading a book about the benefit to becoming a better artist as a result. Painting small and often is the the theme. You are an inspiration! I do it all on the bed because of pain and fatigue from FIBRO and other issues, but you make a lot of examples simplified by your limited palette, enthusiasm and spread joy to me! Thank you bunches! I was born on PEI to missionary parents from Alabama, then lived in New Brunswick until I was 13 1/2. We once vacationed in Bangor, and once on Cadillac Mountain. I feel I know your environment. Now have just arrived to our home in Chattanooga, Tn, after spending winter and spring in Key West for our 12th year. We have joyfully had children, grands, and great grands here from the moment we arrived last Thursday night until last night, (8days) so my crafting supplies that I brought home are beside my bed in tote bags, and hopefully will be organised in four wheel trolleys I bought for that purpose. I look at your site several times a day to see if you have put something new, and I rewatch previous demos! I feel you care about your student peeps, and just thank you again!!
Love the colors and thank you for your tutorials. I look forward everyday for them.....
Love your landscapes! Vibrant, very pleasing to the eye, fun to paint! Thank you
Looks great!! You do make it look so easy.
Thank you so much for this. I am finding my learning capabilities through your beginner tutorials. Soooooo pretty. I just LOVE your painting and drawing style.
Yes! It is exciting to do a demo on ) thats really just so pretty!!!
Thanks for doing the basics for us beginner watercolorist!
I LOVE THIS. It was so nice to have your first painting available to look at as you painted the lesson.. I wish you would consider keeping your original up in the corner or somewhere just to help relate to where and what your painting at a particular moment. Thank for all your work! You're such a great teacher!
I love watching you paint so relaxing and you make it look so effortless! It's been a while since I've used watercolour but want to give it another go and try to relax into it rather than stress, which I think my issue was last time I was trying too hard and getting frustrated. TFS love that beach scene looks idyllic xx
I just love your videos, they are so helpful and inspiring!!! Thank you Lindsay
I was hoping you would do this painting! It's so lovely!💜😄
Yay! Thank you for giving us a tutorial!!! We love you ☺️☺️☺️
I love your personality so much you actually bring me brightness in my day! Thank you for the wonderful videos they're helping inspire me so much, I just bought my first watercolor supplies today because of your videos 🙂 hope you're having a wonderful holiday season so far hun!
+Felinne Crenshaw thank you!
Thank you for all the tutorials you provide us. This is truly amazing! You make it look so easy. I would love to learn how to watercolor. I've dabbled in it, but doing a painting like this would feel awesome. Guess I better start practicing.
best paintings and easy to make
GO LINDSY GO
Ah thank youuuuuu I have this pallet and I love it. I love this and will definitely will be painting it soon!
Thanks so much for all the videos you post! You're a great teacher and I love your personality :) these tutorials are super helpful
This video is where I started doing watercolor portraits. I started back in 2017 and I used cheap watercolor tubes and it still did the job. Unfortunately I haven't bought pans instead I stick with tubes and made a customized one. Thank you for making me love watercolors and art. I've been finding this video for years now hahaha I just wanna say thank you 💖
Love it. Can wait to try it.
i thought they were both very nice. The little differences make them beautiful. loved watching this
Love to watch You paint You paint such beautiful pictures
the 11 people that didnt like this had to have hit it by accident! This is such a nice summer scene- I am so going to paint this! in CT we have a lot of beachy/pond/lake areas that look just like that- i just love this little scene :)
no, she is so anoying
I love your work! You got to do more tutorials like these small short paintings.
That's such a cute painting - I'm (tomorrow!) swapping the 'Cadmium' hues in my unused Cotman Sketcher Set I got for £7.79 in the sale (12 half pans), going to bin the black and white and replace with some colours I really like to use - probably Cobalt Blue and Indian Red. I may swap the Viridian for Perylene Green and maybe get Perylene Maroon in there too as they make amazing neutral greys and are fun for painting plants with. I'm going to (today!) make a Weirich Watercolour Block and carry that set and block in my work bag at all times so if I catch a nice sunset on the way home, I can stop and paint it. Easy.
chees e That's seven pounds not dollars. But I seven pounds is still pretty cheap compared to $30 😂
I love this little scene!
Just watched it again! Love it! I have the Koi set, so need to locate it in the rubble we brought from Key West. I am keeping the little "Confections" TROPICAL and Primary tins right beside my bed, but love using what you do if I have them.
Lovely.... You inspired me again... Thanks
Love your tutorials. Your awesome.
thanks. You made it sounds so relaxing
Hi Lindsay, I have this set, I bought it right after you demoed it, I think it was about 2yrs ago. I really like it, it has a nice big area to mix colors, and I love the way it's set up. Anyway Thanks as always for your time and talent. Alice
I gotta get this watercolor kit you have. I see how useful it is and I have a drawing on standby for its colors. Thank you for sharing
i love how with watercolour you can paint messily and sloppy and t still looks amazing
Certainly enjoyed this!!!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this!
I can’t express enough how much your tutorials are helping me with my confidence, please do more🤗Sharon from Australia
thanks!
thank you! i've just received my watercolor container and i had no idea what to do and i've stumbled across your video and im so glad i did! not bad for first attempt totally subscribed
Very inspiring!:) I'm going out and buying some paints and that water pen tomorrow! Thanks for the video :)
I would live a video comparing waterbrush pens. Loved this little demo.
You are an Amazing Artist, Thank you so much
I have to give it to you lady. you are one bad motor scooter as grandpa say. your work is beautiful and I have been watching you for a while and thank you
+Clifford Stephens thanks!
Thank you and I am going to try this!
Great vid lindsay. . Few have asked me about water flow thru brush ... easy way I do is hold pen tip down and squeeze slightly and watch water flow to bristles ... just helps getting used to using them
I just bought my first water color set and your tutorial was very helpful
Just gave this tutorial a try. I have a small palette of watercolors and I'm not very good at mixing colors. I will continue practicing though! Thanks Lindsay!
Love it!
It's so helpful thank you for sharing this.. i have made it and this is my first time using sakura watercolor. I hope u will make any turtorial with sakura watercolor again. I wait for it😊
great work Lyndsey
Thanks for the great little tutorial Lindsey! I too have this Koi travel box and enjoy taking it out and about with me. I am fairly new to field sketching, do you already have a video which might share some more of your field sketching tips/tricks? Thank you!! :)
Today was my first time painting with water colours and your video was so helpful and easy to follow, I really enjoyed it, thank you!
welcome to your watercolor journey! I am so excited for you!
this is so cool!
Hi Lindsay! Happy belated Birthday! I just wanted to share this: I have this box with the neon and metallic paints, but I really needed to condense my Mission Gold selection. So, I carefully removed the entire plastic tray... and was able to add 22 of my full pans! I used glue dots. I have 2 different boxes of these tube paints, in 2 metal palettes- so using them was overwhelming. I chose my favorites of the Pure Pigment colors and saved the Koi paints elsewhere. Thanks for the tip! I'll jump back in here and try this pond scene!
Jeaaah thanks :P I was waiting for this one :P I allways have issues with water and shading. I like to mix summer green from sap and burnt sienna or a tint darker brown. Think the sap is pretty but feels more spring like then like a mid summer green.
that was really nice.
Thank you... I so wanted to see this. Love you for posting this.
Hey Lindsey, loved this video,I have trouble with tree foliage can you please have a video on this and do trees like you did. Thank you
What a talent you are.
Thanks Lindsay! Your videos are so helpful. I believe I'll act on your comment regarding the Kois: the brush & palette alone make it worthwhile. I've found it surprisingly difficult to find a decent folding one even at the art stores. The best one I found online is the Schmincke & it empty is $35 CDN. You mentioned the Kois are not quite as good as the Cotman. I'm guessing you're referring to the Sketcher line?
I just discovered your tutorials. I plan to use some of your landscapes and floral paintings as a base for my Bible memory verses from the book of John. I have a small (6X9 in.) watercolor Strathmore spiral pad. You help give me the confidence to paint, even though I don't really know what I'm doing!
I really enjoyed this. I tried making one and it didn't turn out half bad! I'd like to see more beginner Tut's with landscapes. I have a similar set of Koi paints and I love the brush pen. The bladder is the softest and squishiest of all the ones I have. It's my favorite.
Mine broke 😭
Hi Lindsay! Thanks for sharing this..... I haven't touched my watercolours for over five years, I felt stuck in a rut with my class and struggled to achieve the spirit or essence of a watercolour with a looseness that I desired. And painting landscapes and capturing that moment in nature was important to me.
So, I have just watched this video and I feel inspired again! I love the idea of the simplicity with the water brush and thought the Koi set was ideal. I don't care if it's not professional standard pigments !!! I can leave those locked up someplace and enjoy the freedom of no pressure and NOT seeking perfection!
I am straight on to Amazon UK and ordering it tonight! I think this will work so neatly and be fun when I go out in my campervan! So thank you very much!
i bought this same watercolour set from michaels with my 50% off coupon! it's pretty decent quality and I'm glad I went with this!
very lovely thank you for your tutorial
Great tips! Love it! Thanks, Lindsay....
I like your brush ..your painting was also great....
Weee! That was so fun and easy peasy! Hope to see more of these little real time paintings with you. I wish you would give name of your watercolor group you enjoy so much. There's so many on FB and I would love to get a recommendation. Till next time, Ciao!
thanks for the tutorial, the way you handle watercolors is beautiful. How do you even paint so fast by the way ? Is it because you have a model that you can go on so quickly ? Also, how do you know how much water do you need for making such smooth blendings in the background ? I always fell like I put too much or too little...
I am waiting for this set in the mail, i am a beginner and i have been so nervous and unable to find useful guidance. this video was excellent, favorited!
Nice! still more advanced then I can paint, I hope you don't mind I shared your kids tissue paper craft on my Facebook and my friend is teaching it to some kids
You are the past artists ..... Thank you for this video😊
I have watched this video a few times... I Love it... I love "today's " water color! It's far less stressful than the "1980s full rule, dry between colors" water color techniques I Could Not reform to... I often say, Art classes Almost destroyed my inner artist. I am all natural, unconventional, and, starting to sell pieces, at 42 years old. Not too bad, in the grand scheme of things.
me ha salido bien gracias por el tutorial
4th love all your artwork
So pretty you. Asking painting look so easy. I try and it never comes out the way you do it . Thankyou for sharing
Keep re-painting the same painting daily, file them by date once dry. Look at each one and work out what you're doing wrong / not enough water, too much paint etc - show someone experienced if unsure. After 2 weeks you will see improvement, it's much easier with same painting over and over as you get better at some parts of it each time until it looks as it should. Never fear painting - just slap it on and have fun - it's only paper, after all.
Great advice! I should do that, too!
+Daphne Campbell Jinnette It works well and it forces you to paint every day which helps a lot. If you get bored, use two paintings and do them on alternate days.
I really like this thanks for demo I learned a few things and will likely give it a try. It will be my 3rd time with watercolors
you are doing great! Keep it up!

These are both beautiful Lindsay, I think I almost like the second one best. LOL So a fantastic job on both! I JUST bought my first set of decent water colours today as I want to learn. They are Winsor & Newton Cotman water colours. I can't seem to find any videos where anyone is actually using the same ones. Its the compact set with 14 half pans. I am not great finding things on here either so I wondered if you could steer me in the right direction? Thanks in advance if you can.
bravo very nice.........thank you
I luv u now thank u thank u thank u I'm a beginner and I have that koi watercolor set and this helped so much I learned some new techniques so thank u 😁😁😄😃😆😀😃👍👍👍👍😸😺
Great painting! TFS! You make the rocks look so easy to paint. My rocks look like they are floating in the air! Any tips?
Awesome thanks
Beautiful Lindsay! I so wish we had someone like you in my area to teach!! You say this is easy? Ha! I dunno about that😀 I'm just about to give up TRYING to paint as nothing comes out. Before I get started I'm like I know I can do this and everything is just awful. Maybe I'm just not a watercolorist?
Oh well, I still love to watch you paint and I love your tutorials! Thank you so much!!
+Christina Webber they say it takes 10000 hours to master a skill, I am sure you can do it , be kind to yourself and have fun:)
+thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Thank you Lindsay! I'll keep trying😉
I'm learning watercolor too. There's always an awful stage, but I've done enough to know that it gets better if I work through it. If I'm frustrated, I just walk away and come back later. It's been great so far. Try doing a single item small painting before tacking something like landscape. That might help. I've painted everything from a slice of bread ( yep, that's right lol ) to a piece of cake, a shoe, s bird's nest with eggs, a goblet and a single flowers. I'm loving watercolor now. Doing items that didn't require a composition was a good confidence builder for me.
+Rose Ryan Thank you so much for your help😆
I was attempting to draw what I thought would be a simple flower, thinking it'd look better once I painted it. LOL, no way. But I absolutely understand where you're coming from as I've thought to just start again with something simple and practice over and over until the item is at LEAST recognizable LOL, maybe even making it to the ugly stage hahahaha😊
Thanks again Rose (my mom's name too) for your encouragement!!
My best tip honestly is find a simple (in the sense of 10 minutes long, a few colours) painting like this or Lindsay has lovely little fishing boat one somewhere and lighthouse one too - all 3-colour easy ones. Paint it every day and when dry, put them in a file with the date on each one. After 2 weeks of the same painting each day and each day trying to analyse your mistakes (show it to people with experience, if you don't know what you did wrong - no one will laugh at you - folk want to help) you WILL see serious improvement. It's a good way to iron out a lot of technique errors quite fast.
Thanks for this Lindsay! I actually did this one today! This was only my 2nd ever w.c. painting! Didn't turn out anywhere near as good as yours, of course. But it seems good enough to send as a greeting card. I posted it on the Frugal Crafter Community page.
cool, I will look for it!
Well, Lindsay, actually I had to take it off of the FB page. I didn't realize until I put it up, that everyone on FB can see that I did! This painting is on a greeting card that is going to be a sympathy card. So, I didn't want the people I'm sending it to to see it on FB.. at least not yet. I did put it in the Angelooney FB page though. :-)
I love you!
it's the stuff like learning things should get brighter and more vibrant as they come closer that I need to learn.
I also need to quit doubting myself and the process.
She makes me feel like I can do this 😊
Chlexie L. You can!!
