  • Let's Paint a Snowy Scene with 2 colors!
Today I will show you how to pant a snowy path with trees in watercolor using only two colors of paint. I will show you how to mix blue and brown to achieve a range of warm and cool greys.

I loved this video! I'm only 13years old and your videos really inspired me to try painting since I would only sketch because I was scared of adding colour. But now I just want to paint all the time and I got new water colours!! :) so I'm painting loads now and I'm even becoming brave enough to paint my own things without a tutorial :) so thanks so much Lindsey! :)

Love this snowy scene! I was right in the middle of doing this, and had to stop, because...My "Sea Glass and the Lighthouse" books arrived! I was so excited, my paper all dried out, but I don't care. Love the book, its so bright, and all the colors are so beautiful! I'm giving one to my 3 yr old great grandson, he will love it. the other one is MINE, to put out on display. Love having your artwork sitting out. Oh, and I love how the book has the writing on one side, and then the whole next page is the picture, so if your reading to a kid, they can look at the picture. AND I have beach glass, from the opposite coast, so I will give him some of that to go with the book. Thanks so much for all you do!

I had to leave the room and I forgot to stop the video and when I came back you were scraping twigs along the path area and the painting looked stunning! But as always the painting turned out beautiful! I love trees in the winter with no leaves. Thank you

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate your channel. You are the reason I picked up a watercolor brush and a box of koi paints a few weeks ago and went nuts on some cheapo watercolor paper. I've never painted before, but your tutorials made it so easy for me to venture fearlessly into watercolor painting. Now into better quality paper and my first box of cotman colors, I'm hopelessly hooked. Thank you for being such a dedicated educator!

I'd been painting for many years but the most freeing thing anyone ever said to me was, "Art is an opinion, your art is your opinion." After that, I stopped trying to please others. Freeing!

Thank you so much!! Mine is not nearly as good as yours - and I really don't like to do landscapes - but I finally realized that I need to just try these all out to learn - you are a great teacher! I was pleased with the end result - especially for a first effort - also - the added techniques were great! And, the using two colors...you showing all you could create out of them - fantastic!!! Thanks! Keep 'em coming!

I used phtalo green, cobalt blue, payne's gray and an unnamed brown color from an old cake watercolor tray. Since these are really just for me, I don't always care much about the quality of the paints I use, I just have loads of fun and relaxation!

What a beautiful "ez breezy lemon squeezy" painting, which really emotes the feeling of those cold and really snowy days where everything is all hazy. I just love how you paint for the beginner (You were the first watercolorist I watched and I painted and learned so much from your MANY paintings when I first started my watercolor journey and now a true passion for it a couple of years ago. I still come back to you, as your paintings still teach me techniques. I can't imagine how many of your followers grow their watercolor painting wings painting along with you and your always cheery attitude. I felt so bad, and you handled it beautifully, when you mentioned the comment about your tutorial, "Blue Skies and Birch Trees" and how "you ruined it with splatters." It seems rather obvious that if you don't care for a more loose and expressive style, simply leave out the embellishments that aren't 'your thing." It's a shame, but sometimes people sitting behind the comfort of the computer and anonymity can slap down some potentially hurtful comments without respect to how it may come across. And to be fair, it is entirely possible that no ugliness was meant in the comment. I do wonder though how many of your subscribers consider the infinite amount of hours you spend coming up with affordable, fun and varied projects, researching reference photos, gathering/purchasing supplies, editing, not to mention the countless paintings that you walk everyone through from beginning to end. Precious few artists teach like you do without having their subscribers pay a fee to become a Patreon. So, to end a rather endless comment, Lindsay, you are one of the most generous and joyful people I've ever known as you share your time and talent so freely, asking nothing in return. I just know your goodness touches people. It certainly has this subscriber and tremendous fan! 💕

It always amazes me because I think why did she do that it just looks like she wiggled the brush around and then I glance down and back up and say wow will you look at that it looks like trees in the background or whatever. Trust me I am not an artist but as soon as I get enough time I am going to "try" doing some of the things you do. Emphasis on the try. haha If it ends up being a big mess like you say it is just a piece of paper and you never know if you don't try. I appreciate you teaching us some of your knowledge. Hoping some of it sinks in to this hard head of mine. TFS!

Hi. I learned something rather peculiar. I couldn't get my watercolors to respond like the way you do. The answer is in my tap water. The water is very hard and full of chemicals to keep it clean. The water interfered with all types of paint. The solution is to use distilled water. The author of the book said that tap water can cause the paint to fade, mold or discolor the painting. The life of the painting is compromised. Thanks for your informative videos, Lindsay.
