He had a heart attack, I think it was in 2017 and has not been well enough to travel since then From what I understand, Paul was close to death. So praise the Lord for healing him. I can see he's lost a lot of weight. Let's pray that he's healed. He's such a blessing to the Body. God bless you Alfredo.

I’m so thankful for all these men of God especially Mr. Paul Washer.
And I’m extremely grateful for the publishers that they didn’t block the comments section, as it’s usually done for the most of Mr. Washer’s sermons.
Mr. Washer, if you get to read this, please be assured of our prayers as a family, we owe you so much. Thank you for being yourself in Christ, you are a tremendous blessing to us.
So much more to say, all I can write here is
God bless you to please Him all the more, in all of your days!! Thank you once again!! - an Indian family living in Saudi Arabia!!

Paul Washer stands out because he’s a biblical Pastor. He knows what it’s like to be in the mission field that is why he’s not so quick to push a young man in the field when he’s Not qualified. Paul is a sola scriptura Pastor. He seeks God’s heart ..and he’s given God his heart of hearts. That is how he teaches the flock.
It’s good to see him looking well!

I agree that Paul stands out bcoz he personally experience the physical dangers of spreading the Gospel.
Paul dominates the conference not just by biblical intellect but also by personal experience that the other pastors in this conference never experienced.

I'm so glad he addressed this. I'm just so tired of hearing fellow women complaining, why can't we be pastoooors, its 2019 EQUALITY!

Powerful and wise answers from these godly men. Loved the counsel and advise. Loved the recommendations of some books/biographies concerning missions and missionaries. Also loved that the focus was on the local church sending out qualified men on the mission field. We're not to be ashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16), but we need to learn the Word of God under correct preaching (2 Timothy 4:2) in order to articulate a correct gospel message and sound doctrine.
And I really appreciated with brother Washer and Josh Buice said about women on the mission field. Women can be used mightily for God, but their roles given by God is the way to do it. Unfortunately, most of our ladies get fluff "teaching" by women teachers that only stroke the emotions more so than teach them scripture. Where do we get this idea that men need to be taught sound theology, but women, teens, and children don't? Anyway, grateful to these men and this conference.

I'm thankful for Christian men seeking to send out missionaries. Just something that I'd like to say. Christ grew up living out the word, not just teaching it. But I think the key is living his word. Because it drives the roots of God's words deep. An has a stronger hold.

I find Paul's interventions are particularly relevant without substracting to the quality of the others speakers. Indeed, regarding the mission, I have the impression that we rely much more on human means than on the power of the Holy Spirit. We often forget that the world is not our field but the Father's and that we are just workers as explained so well in Matthew 13. Therefore, it is the owner of the field who gives the orders of how the work is to be done and gives the means to do it. And speaking of the power of the Holy Spirit, the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in acts 8v26-40 shows us that God is not limited by distance or any obstacle. In verse 39-40 we see that Philip was transported from point A to point B by the power of the Holy Spirit. He didn't have to take physical transportation. For those who would talk about a lack of financial means: Didn't the Lord raise people who gave their goods to support the missionary work? We must stop limiting God by our strategies (not that it is not good to have them, but to depend totally on them is to rely on our own strengths) and our lack of faith and return to Sola Scriptura as Paul said. Men and women whose only weapons are spiritual weapons Ephesians6:13-18 and prayer. Bible and broken knees
    God bless you

Listening as a pew sitter, this came to mind:
    2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV
"3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"
    ~~
It's like, this is God's army. They wage war out "at the tip of the spear" both physically and spiritually, but never forget the Battle is the LORD's.
God bless these leaders and spread their message to all interested in missions.

Let me tell you something brother. Concerning your UA-cam thumbnail picture. Showing off your physique on the internet doesn't do anything to Glorify God. Don't let love of your image get in the way of God working in you. Put your shirt on..Use care, just think, if a Christian female is on here and is tempted to lust because you aren't exemplifying humility that's not good. There already is more than enough showing off of near naked bodies on the internet, we don't need that from one of God's people. I realize I don't know you but If I did I would tell you that personally, out of love for you and others around you

We are forgetting who is in charge of missions or anything else to do with GOD for that matter. We claim that we have faith, we claim that we believe, we claim that we trust god. We should lower our own wisdom and lift up GOD up high, pray and trust, have faith and believe that his work in missions will be done. And this will all be done in the power of the Holy Spirit. In JESUS name amen.

In this thread. We know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1John 3:14 / 4:17. Defining love. It is patient, kind, not puffed up, doesn't behave unseemly, not easily provoked, rejoices not in iniquity but rejoices in the truth - just to name a few of the terms of love. I hope we all can learn to love more. Debate is ok if it is in genuine love. May the Lord bless you all and transform by the renewing of your mind.

I believe it would be 100 times more powerful and effective to see a missionary trained up by his own Elders rather than at Seminary. That would mean of course that we must have solid teaching and preaching in the local church. We can't be consistent and say "let's do this the scriptural way here and here" ..and in another arena use modern methodology. Many men I respect greatly came from seminaries but if there was one thing i would have loved to have seen more it's a qualified, solid pastor, missionary who was poured into and trained solely by the elders in his own body.

A teacher/Elder of the church is a mans job alone according to Paul(the apostle) - when they are talking about biblical missions they mean actually establishing a church where there is none- missionaries in this context basically must be qualified elders. Missions are different from evangelism in this way I imagine. If anyone can spot check my understanding, I appreciate it.

Just one question for the topic at 57:47 about women on the mission field. I agree completely that women, like men, should be mature Christians if they are sent, and it's ideal that families go on missions together. However, where do celibate women, with no children, find this calling? I find the "wait until you have a husband" answer lacks some nuance/depth (examples: Amy Carmichael). Any thoughts/biblical justifications on this? I loved Paul's answer, but found the previous man's answer a bit lacking.

He is quoting Jeremiah 6. That's what Paul Washer encouraged them to do.
But how did Jeremiah end his verse??? "But they said, We will not walk therein."
"Thus saith the Lord , Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein."

Missions today has ignored Jesus' words, that, 'the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the Word, and he becometh unfruitful'. 'And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness...And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness (OF THE HEART), let it NOT be ONCE named among you, as becometh saints; NEITHER filthiness, NOR foolish talking, NOR jesting, which are NOT convenient: but rather giving of thanks' (Eph.4:24, 5:2-4). 'Wherefore be ye NOT unwise, but understanding WHAT the will of God IS!' (Eph.5:17) Missions began with a different mindset 'filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the Word of GOD with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own!' (Acts 4:31-32) Missions are blessed of God when men do not 'keep back part of the price', but give their all...remembering that 'Ye were bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men'! 'For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's!' Apostle Paul says more, 'Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ'. 'To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the Gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you'! Missions today forget many things in God's word, and that missions also in on His terms.

@Fikir-fikir I thank God for the good work and furtherance of the Gospel through brother Paul Washer. Paul Washer said that our practice must also be informed by and conformed with the Scriptures. My question then is this, where do we see the entire system, structure, and practice of denominations and seminaries in the Scriptures as a way to make disciples and train/equip the saints for the work of the ministry, let alone the primary way? People are blinded to their own hypocrisy in this area. Trusting in men's wisdom & upholding the traditions of men, instead of trusting Jesus and the Scriptures on how to make disciples. Even the word missionary and the foreign concepts smuggled into the word need to be reexamined in light of Scriptures. What does the Scriptures describe and teach us? What words does the Bible used? Is there even a Scriptural equivalent of what we call missionaries? The Scriptures are sufficient. Stick with the Word. Don't just say it. Show us Bereans the Scriptures that support the practice and traditions of men as we see it today.
Thank God the gospel of Christ has the power to save, in spite of us. But we should strive to be more faithful to our Lord. We need to repent of our traditions of men and imitate Christ and what the Scriptures has taught. Jesus, be glorified!

    • @fikir-fikir1938

It seems that both of us agree that _"our practice must also be informed by and conformed with the Scriptures."_
And, yes, "the gospel of Christ has the power to save, in spite of us."
      Now, you said,
_" where do we see the entire system, structure, and practice of denominations and seminaries in the Scriptures as a way to make disciples and train/equip the saints for the work of the ministry, let alone the primary way?"_
      - Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that your objection is towards the formal way of learning and teaching, which is the seminary.
      - Well, the Bible does mention a lot about teaching others like 2 Tim 2:2, 3:16; 1 Cor 12:28; Titus 2:7-8; Eph 4:11-16, etc. And seminary does that. So, to assume that seminary has no biblical basis by equating it as "men's wisdom & upholding the traditions of men" is a bit extreme.
On the word "missionary", it's just semantics. The word "Missionary" comes from the Latin word "missio" which means, "to send". There are a lot of Bible verse that talks about sending someone to preach the Good News. We even have what we call as the Great Commission where Jesus sends His disciples to go to every nations. So, to say that missionary has no Biblical basis is also a bit extreme.
And, if it's not for these missionaries who came to my homeland on the island of Borneo and preached the Word to my ancestors, I would have still be an animistic pagan today who hunts human head which was part of my ancestral ritual.

    • @donovan6327
      @donovan6327 5 років тому +1

elgriego331 The “law” being referred to in Galatians are the laws and ordinances given by Moses. These laws included sacrifices and other atonement rituals, quarantines of the sick/unclean, sabbaths and other things.
Repentance is not a work of the law of Moses, since sacrifices and other atonement rituals were in place at that time because of man’s constant transgression of the law. Repentance is a requirement of the New Covenant, activated by the death of Jesus Christ.
Galatians is saying that nobody is justified before God because of how well they can follow the Law of Moses (because in the Law of Moses you aren’t necessarily believing in a Messiah nor are you freed from sin, since you have to constantly atone for your sins).
Justification comes from your sanctification, since that’s the will of our Father in heaven. Sanctification takes place in believing that only through faith in Jesus Christ are our sins atoned for and we can be made holy and righteous before God. So, by faith, we obey Jesus when he says “repent”, because in doing so we agree to the terms of the New Covenant and receive the mercy and grace of our God who will transform our souls to be made pure before him-or “born of the spirit”, which is the spirit of God: holiness.
“No one can enter the kingdom of heaven unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

We need Spirit filled man who can preach what the Holy Spirit wants the people to know. I wouldn't be surprised that the expositors in Jesus time were the Pharisees and scribes. But they lacked the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Today's pastors must be a prophet to their congregation. Well, when someone says to me: I don't remember what I did because I was "In the Spirit" I immediately suspect that the person is not living under the authority of God or of Scripture. Such an idea is not found in the New Testament Church.
And I would add that a Theology that's faithful to Scripture is God made, not man made.
The Apostles had much to say about sound doctrine, teaching, rightly handling the Word, and being faithful to "the Word as taught."
The concept of Theology is present in all of these concepts, you cannot know a person, or God unless you know what is true about them.
Claiming to know God in "spirit" is useless without knowing Him in Truth as well.
That's why Jesus used those terms together and didn't put them in opposition to each other.
Can a person say anything about Christ that isn't related to theology? The word theology is not evil, it simply means "The study of God."
Using the Spirit inspired Word to learn God should hardly be viewed in a negative way.

Theology is the study of God. The Scriptures are breathed out by God ( 2 Timothy 3:16). Therefore, in Scripture we are told what God is doing and we see that as believers we are being sanctified to be conformed into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). We have to know Christ aka have a greater knowledge of God by immersing ourselves in His word. Better knowledge of God brings forth a better obedience to His since we know what we ought to do as a response to our free gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8). This leads to us as believers to be His proper workmanship in doing good things (Ephesians 2:10).
