Thankyou Bob👍 Yes , Wayne and his family really looked after me and to drive me back to Great Dunmow was above and beyond. PBP just wasn't to be for me this year so I'm just looking forward to the next 🙂
Sorry you didn't set out to achieve what you'd hoped to. It was darn hot and horribly windy on the Sunday, I was heading south at the time on Arts and Science 600, and the headwind was a struggle. Thanks for sharing, good luck with your next ride.
Cheers Ieuan 👍 Yes the weather was extremely Hot and Windy as you know , hope your ride went well for you. I'll just have to wait until the next PBP comes around again 🙂 Good Luck if you're riding PBP
This popped up in my feed and I started to watch out of curiosity. Soon got right into your journey and stayed to the end. You Audax people are a different breed and the way you handled the challenges of distance, temperature, wind etc. let alone following the line on your Bryton, staying on route and remembering to turn the camera on and comment is amazing. I'm sure the experience of the extreme conditions for this one will be banked for the next, so good luck goimg forward
Bad luck Bob, I was wondering how you'd got on. I was the bloke on the recumbent trike. We had a chat at Gainsborough. We were both in the same position of needing sleep, but knowing that time is precious.....but needing some sleep - just a little! You made the comment in Spalding [I think] that that a can of drink disappeared in seconds. I was drinking litres of water like that!! Sorry you won't make it to Paris, but what a lovely end to your weekend. As you say - the kindness of some people. All the best to you.
Thankyou Alan👍 Appreciate your kind words , I think it's right to show when things don't go to plan though. Yes , I was lucky it was Wayne and his generous family's home I stopped at. 🙂
Sorry to hear that Barry 😞. It was very hot and the strong headwind was relentless , so much so that I was shouting and swearing 🤬 at it. I was confident of finishing in time too till I was ill at the side the road . Hopefully see you on the road soon👍
@@BarrySercombe I know that feeling Barry, when you think you're getting nowhere . I try to switch off and not think about it if I can. You had a good go at it , so hat's 🎩 off
Cheers Richard 👍. Yes that Crowland part did go on a bit , but it was the hairdryer headwinds that made it worse. PBP, I will just have to wait ✋️ till next time .
I think I'd choose a wet ride over heat like that. Sunstroke is the worst. Can I ask which mudguards you have Bob? I have a Giant Defy and would like a set for Audax.
Thankyou Andrew 👍 I'd have loved a thunder storm that day⛈️☔️. Yes they're Raceblade Pro XL Stealth , (matt finish instead of gloss) xl meaning upto 32mm tyres. They fit nice and tidy👌
Sorry you didn’t make it. I did the Buzzard-Exe 600k in 2019, in very similar circumstances. Very hot and only just made it. The world needs more Wayne’s! Great story!
Thankyou Alex 👍 Looking back at it, I still had a enjoyable weekend and I'm glad to hear you made it on your 600 Like you say a nice story came out of it, thanks to Wayne and his family 🙂
Gutted for you Bob….So close too pal. Always remember it’s only a bike ride at the end of the day. “The Kindness of Humanity” really does exist tho doesn’t it. Recover well
Thankyou Michael 👍 You're right about it being only a bike ride, but it's nice to finish them. I still had a good time looking back at it Yes they really helped me and I'm very very grateful to them🙂
Great effort!!! Always enjoy your videos. Also, you showed that there are nice and generous folks out there that will lend a helping hand.
Dave
Thankyou Dave 🙂

I was following and willing you on and others on the the PBP tracker .
Great effort 🙂
Thanks for sharing Bob. Lovely to hear that story at the end about the good samaratans that saw you right. Bad luck about PBP.
Thankyou Bob👍

Looking back at it all , I still had a good time, but it wasn't to be.
If you go to Paris hope it all goes well for you Garry. 🙂
Great effort. It’s no surprise you struggled in that heat… I’d have been under the tree with you! Onwards and upwards.
Thanks very much Saddlesore appreciated 👍
I was confident of getting back in time before disaster struck , but it was a nice tree 🌳 .
Great vid that - and the family that took you in! Restores faith in humanity doesn’t it.
Thanks Russ👍
1st time I've been ill on a ride, Wayne and his family really helped me out.

Splendid effort, it wasn't a failure it was a total success and definitely renews our faith in the generosity of of our fellow men/women.
Thankyou Alan👍

Same story for me, made it to Chatterris and then bailed near Cambridge, too much in the hairdryer wind! Barry (PBP shirt in the CooP cameo)
Sorry to hear that Barry 😞.

@@Bijou-Bob Any effort I put in just seemed to dissipate into that wind, with no result

It's appreciated 👍
There's always next time🙂
I may have overlooked it, do you have a video of your bike and the gear you use when you ride various lengths?
Dave
I haven't filmed a bike or gear review, but might in the future 👍
The bikes are a Giant Defy and Cannondale Synapse
Thanks for watching Dave 🙂
Great effort all the same, a lot of good people out there.
Cheers John 🙂
Certainly are👍
No loitering under a tree, I'll remember that. Sorry to hear you won't be there. As for that Crowland section, it just goes on and on and on....
Cheers Richard 👍.
