- Welcome to Panari Resort in Nyahururu, Kenya the one place where you cannot be bored! In our short stay there we went on a walk in the forest looking for elephants, visited a lake, drove electric quads, saw the famous Thomspon's Falls and so much more.
This resort is perfect for anyone who just like us love doing and seeing new things and also for families with young ones who need to stay entertained.
On top of the large variety of activities, the Panara Resort has some amazing and very attentionate staff always there to make your stay even more special and also... some delicious food!

Fun fact: Nyahururu was formerly known as Thompson Falls town. The river with the falls is the same one in Samburu and Isiolo. The area between Naivasha and Nakuru was once known as " The Happy Valley", a book "White mischief" has been written about life in the area, and one of the streams in the area is named "wanjohi" (alcohol) river because the residents in their swinging parties used to pour so much whiskey into the river. Most farmers in the area were originally Afrikaners from the Transvaal, and had a Jan van Riebeck schule, now known as Ndururumo. Ndururumo is the original name of the falls, meaning thunderous sound.
I was told the original name of the falls is Kirurumo

It's quite fun how this resort is literally a walking distance from town yet you can just walk a few yards behind it and feel as if you're deep in the forest interacting with elephants, hippos and at times buffaloes.
Kenya is an amazing country with it's beautiful sceneries ,wonderful people. Nyahururu ,Rumuruti and all the beautiful land

Thomson's Falls Lodge is still there, but looking a little worn. I think that Panari has taken away quite a bit of the Lodge's business.

One of my favorite videos brought back lots of memories from 1999 when we were there we stayed in small rooms just off the falls and a lot of shops you was at we we got the shop at good job. A man was walking around trying to sell chameleons to everyone

This is where I was born, we know it as Kirurumo, which translated means a roar, or Nyahururu Falls. Thompson Falls is what the foreigners call it, but we don't recognize that name.

Thompson falls reverted to the indeginous; Nyahururu, Lake ol bolosat, is the only lake in central Kenya, AND it's shrinking!!!
