Hello sweet,kind,and beautiful dear Paula..I'm here again for your another good reaction on our beloved and unique Dimash..For me this is not the most but is absolutely one of the most funny and shocking performances of Dimash..And on UA-cam there are videos where you can see at the final of the song the big emotion of Dimash of see his father after many times..Is a very emotional and touching scene..And not for reaction but more for yourself you can see the original song sung in playback/lipsinc by ridiculous clown Vitas and after you can see the many differences with this live version of Dimash..Obviously are differences all to favour of the great master and the one and only Dimash..Good and nice beginning of week and stay always safe and healthy 👋👋👋👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️

Hi Paula, Thank you - I love this...! Unfortunately, you can never find another version of this. When Vitas, the Russian that originally performed this, saw that Dimash sang this, he immediately filed charges that now prevent Dimash from ever performing it again...! And, he never has. He sang this as a contestant in a contest in China in 2017. He did not win that contest (each contestant performed 12 different songs) he was invited but couldn't win because he was a foreigner....mistake on their part - they later changed the rules to allow outsiders to win...! He also performed "(Dimash and Laure (Tribute to MJ, 2017)" a great piece in which he also plays the drums. It's in this performance that he has to kneel down in front of a children's choir at the end while "wailing away." A little girl reaches over and rubs his head and neck - a little girl next to her yells at her to "stop that." Dimash almost breaks up laughing. I have never seen anyone that reacts to this song that mentions the little girls actions. All the best wishes from Japan

Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among other countries. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.
The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas.
The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional.
BTW the audience is also the jury.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.
I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot.

As far as I know, on this channel there are no copyright issues and there are also English subtitles. And I always recommend switching them on. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover.

I highly recommend you also to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel and then the one from his Bastau concert. It was the 8th performance of this competition. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited.
I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. As somebody mentioned in a comment, I totally agree that it is always very frustrating when reactors jump on the Bastau version and don’t know the sad story of this song and don’t even try to activate the subtitles. I can understand that a lot of Dears prefer reactions to this version because it is just incredibly more powerful. In my opinion, however, it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. This song tells a very sad but true story. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about.
In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again.
It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it.
The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances.
In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017.

What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin.

This is from the second round of Singer 2017 - a tv singing contest in China for professional, well-known singers - where Dimash first became known globally. The theme of the series was ‘Covers’, and this was originally performed by Vitas, a Russian singer.

Really is ridiculous the geoblocking and copyright issues on here for reactors but we make the best of it and at least we have the amazing content to react to in the first place.
