Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was only finding instructions/tutorials for attaching a sailor collar on a bodice with buttons down the front, and since I’m still a relatively new sewist, I couldn’t quite figure out how to modify the instructions for a one-piece bodice. Truly, thank you! 🙏✨🫶
Hi Thespia - the facing edge you would finish in the usual way - overlook / serger it, or use a zigzag stitch. Many options. I didn't for this as it's just a tutorial toile!
Oh, if you give me a week, you can have it for free! I just need to scan it in to my computer but my scanner is in my office and I won't be there til next Thursday! 😘
How do you create a facing for a sailor collar that will be a different fabric than the main jacket? Do you split the facing and make it out of two fabrics? Thanks!
Yep! The sailor collar is created separately from the jacket, because the curved neckline would make it impossible to 'grow on'. Therefore, you can make the collar from whichever fabrics you wish! 😎
I've been trying to find a tutorial on adding a shawl collar to an already-constructed open neck garment (that has no collar but follows the line of a shawl collar). Could you use this technique to do that (stitch the collar down on front, then add facing on top and flip it under?)
In theory, yes, though shawl collars are constructed very differently to sailor collars. How much of a hurry are you in? I'm away for two weeks, but otherwise could put together a tutorial when I get back, for early May?
@@TheCreativeCurator gee, it would be *great* if you could put together a tutorial -- if you will, I'll wait for it; I'd rather do this well than do it quickly. Thank you! (I have a lightweight duster coat that has no collar, and I think it would be best with something like a shawl collar, if I can make it work.) Thanks again!
Loved this tutorial, using it to help me with an exam. First time i actually listened to the chatter of a tutorial hahaha. Lovely
Ha ha thanks Gabriel! I am not one for music overlays I'm afraid, I like to have a little natter as if we're friends having a coffee! 🤣

@@TheCreativeCurator no but this video helped me so much i need this for a school project and i was screwing up SO BAD
Do you have a UA-cam or other instructional material about making a bodice with a front opening with a sailor collar?
Not right now, but I can certainly create one in early March?
What do you do with the facing that now just has a raw edge?

Would you sell the pattern for this miniature? I’d love to make one for my daughters teddy bear
