By 1993 I had stopped playing with GI Joe's. So a lot of the later characters and colors are completely new to me. But in my heyday, I did have GI Joe's and transformers that either were different colors or prototypes that never made it to the store. We lived in the city next to Hasbro headquarters so of course as kids they'd go dumpster diving for toys that were thrown out. We had to invent names for some of the toys we pulled out because they never made it to production lol
This is why I need to watch the live streams. I knew HCC was coming to Assembly Required, but didn't know the date. (I fell off their email list.) Hope your stay in Des Moines, and the gathering was a fun time. Next time you're in DSM, hopefully I can say "thanks for the content and positivity." with a hand shake.
That OP sounded great! Repeater and Fast draw running support and Shockwave going in and taking care of business! Great and different review Hoodie! Cool seeing the local Joe scene!
I skipped this one when it was available, but wish I'd picked it up for the Night Force figures. I was a bit older at the time, a I think I recognized that it seemed like it was just thrown together (especially the inclusion of Fast Draw).
Great review, it was cool to see some of the figures i sent you, can't wait to see them in future reviews, that assembly required event must have been fun, maybe I will check it out in the future.
I liked (not preferred) the red in terms of it being a well-painted figure (my brother thought he looked a bit like Mr. Chekov and often made him a Russian paratrooper), but the NF Crazylegs is the single biggest improvement over the original in the entire NF set.
The only real uncool thing about this set is why release Fast-Draw without his accessories? That's pretty crappy in my eyes but maybe I could learn to see it differently? Don't think so. The Night Force figures could be worth it though.
You are a very lucky person, you have 1989 night force Shockwave, he is one of the most expensive Joes ever, not to mention he's the star of jeff gurwood's covert operatives, but still great find.
Following the Night Force theme. Hasbro would’ve benefited more by switching out Fast Draw with another Night Force figure like Spearhead, Falcon, Crazylegs, & or Outback.
Liked just for the hoodie! Question, would it rate higher if it at least had a machine gun and rocket launcher for example, an M-60 and a bazooka or LAW rocket?
Thats cool. I always want to know what those kids in ads and commercial and like stuff you did are up to now and their/your experiences. Maybe HCC can do a vid on that.

Yojoe.com tends to be incorrect about the 90's figures availability. They say all of the 90's figures were only avalible for one year but that's untrue that is true for some of the 90's figures but figures like: Ambush, Capt.Grid iron, Freefall, salvo ,subzero, topside laser viper, night creeper metal head, rock viper, saw viper the sonic fighters / super sonic fighters figures and some mail aways were actually available for two years you can see this in the catalogs and I've seen those 1990 figures on the back of the cards for 1991. They also say slaughters marauders and python patrol was also available in 1990 but they weren't. This is something yojoe.com needs to update.
am I the only person that thinks the rapid deployment pocket pack strongly resembles a dumpster? I keep feeling like there being deployed from a dumpster, which was snuck behind enemy lines. Maybe that's where they got the idea for metal gear solid, sneaking around in a cardboard box.gi joe sneaking up on Colbrunn disguised as a dumpster
Would it have helped the set's rating if the figures had actually included the correct accessories? It just seems like a special level of lazy to rerelease figures without their proper accessories when the write up is based on those accessories. The omission of Fast Draw's visor is a step even beyond that. That isn't just an accessory, it's basically a part of the figure. "Here, kids, buy our incomplete toys."
That would be a big plus, IMO. The only good thing is that you get the Night Force versions, which wasn't available in 1993. But...Repeater and Shockwave weren't available in 1993! So you're stuck without the accessories for these superior versions...
I have to say the pocket patrol pack is pretty lame I mean it's just a green case that can hold 3 figures nothing special in 1983 and 1984 when the pocket patrol pack was available. why buy that when you can get a better carrying case the APC.
There are situations where discreetly carrying three figures on your belt would be preferable to lugging around a giant truck with a handle on it. Grandma's funeral for instance.

Ima big fan of Gijoe since I was 10 in 1984 glad there r people like you and all the other guys with youtube channels keeping all this alive brother!

I may be biased, but I think this is one of the best videos this year. It includes fan reaction of the Rapid Deployment Force, which is a plus!

Overstock clearance, as GI Joe was winding down.

The second issue pocket patrol pack had a rectangular sticker that caused application accuracy problems! Lol!

Very cool review of the G.I. Joe Rapid Deployment Force. There sure is a lot of fun facts surrounding RDF set.
I think Hasbro looked into the box of loose Joe's and picked out all of their Fast Draws and called it good.
This was a fun review! Love how you did the filming at Assembly Required! Thanks for another great review.
Man...the Rapid Deployment Force deploys so rapidly that Fast Draw didn't have time to put on his gear or missiles!
Is it me, or does "Night Force", on the whole, have more realistic coloured outfits than their original figures had?
Oh yes. Crazylegs is like 100 % better than his original with the red.

I kinda dig the colors on RDF Repeater & Shockwave. I think I prefer them over the colors from their V1 incarnations.
Hope you got the chance to visit your daugther that attends college in Des Moines.
Liked just for the hoodie!

I was the model in the file card. That was me. That was my belt. I swear. 😂

I head the epic Blues Brothers pile-up, but didn't see it. I guess some things are best left to the imagination. :)

It's kind of a shame they didn't just make it a Night Force special pack. Fast Draw without the visor is such a let down.
That's why I have a Fast Draw without accessories...now we know.

I will say I do like repeater v2 and shockwave v2 but fast draw just sucks.
Awesome to get NF Shockwave/Repeater but Fast draw? without even the rest of his helmet and givin just a machine gun? Really lame
