When Della Reese said that she was referring to the time she and Redd worked on a show called "The Royal Family". Sadly Redd died like a couple of episodes into the making of the show, but the episode he was in you could definitely tell something was off. I do believe they were trying to micromanage his acting style too much, and it definitely showed. They should've just let him do his thing, because like the lady said, you don't need to tell Redd how to be funny.

I feel bad for Redd, but he did kind of screw himself by refusing to pay taxes. I hate paying taxes too, but when you make that kind of money, and are famous the IRS is bound to catch on. I read where he insisted on getting paid in cash for doing Sanford & Son, so he probably didn't claim any of it. Nevertheless the man was a genius, and will be missed.
