The album is great without visuals, but the love for details that went also into the optical appearance is the icing on the cake! Love it! Is this kinda how your teenage room looked like, Andy?
Yep! This was super fun to design with my friend Tristan who drew everything. The dog is my childhood dog, Shadow. There are lots of little Easter eggs hiding in there :)
Great guest appearances on this album are the cherry on top of the best baked music cake ever....Congrats to this absolutely masterpiece Andy ,can't wait to get my physical edition 🎊🤘❤🔥✨✌
Arcade Metal is a masterpiece, not only because of how evocative it is musically, but also because of how different it sounds compared to Neverafter. Most musicians would have mostly stuck to the same musical formula after putting out an amazing album like Neverafter, but not Andy. It genuinely feels like a privilege to be listening to this.
Wow thank you Ramtin! I will release another instalment of Neverafter soon, but I just have too much in my mind and heart to just stick to one style 😊🤘
Putting a legend as Per Nilsson as the final boss must have been one of the easiest decision you've made on this album. Really nice of him to help you out on this one, as with the rest of the guests! This was a phenomenal journey and a great listen. Mad props Andy!
Reminds me of my teen years. Dreams of rock and roll and a time of fun with no obligations. Well done on another masterpiece that takes us to another place.
Not gonna lie, at the announcement of the "arcade metal" project, I was a bit disappointed because i was kinda hoping for a Hereafter 2.0, thought the arcade orientation wouldn't be my cup of tea... But Holly molly, I couldn't be more wrong ! This album is beyond what i ever felt listening to music ! This is so unique, it is definitly a one of its kind album you made us An immense bravo to you, and thank you for bringing this world some beauty like this !
My wife just recently bought the Castlevania collection for the Switch & I guess tried out Bloodlines & was like: "Holy Shit! This is excellent!!" I was like: "After that, try Rondo Of Blood for the TurboGrafx CD. Not only is it the precursor to Symphony for the PS1 (which I've beaten 6 times. Game's a classic. Sometimes you're just in the mood for it...)
If you haven't heard of Dance With the Dead check 'em out, there's a lot to enjoy there....with their retro-horror theme they definitely go for the John Carpenter style of 80s synthy stuff Loved to Death has decent guitar leads on it but the group is like 80% electronic....solid af though love that stuff Out of Body and Loved to Death are my top 2 picks for them if you wanna check it out
I love that I can HEAR the Genesis/SNES era sounds IN THE MUSIC while not being covers. You managed to extract the nostalgia and feel without copying the songs...honestly, fantastic album!
I was born in '84 and this album just 'checks so many boxes', it's perfection and I've had it on repeat for a week straight... My 5 year old loves Glitch and started dancing to it lol. Thanks for the vibes Andy!
My Top Albums: 1. Shadows of the Dying Sun - Insomnium 2. Arcade Metal - Andy Gillion 3. Follow the reaper - Children of Bodom Congratulation, you've topped God Alexi 🥳
I can't say how many times I've listened to this album. Too many (never enough lol). Being born in 89 I barely missed growing up in the 80s. The sound and atmosphere this album brings further solidifies the fact that if I was given the option to go back in time, thus is the era I would choose.
So many details in this room, just like your music its crazy, the photo with you and Matt, the cupa tea, the Megadrive or is it the Saturn 🤔 Enter the Castle poster, Streets of Rage poster and game, Andy tshirt, i was addicted to that fucking game, sock of doom, picks, good you replace your EMGs for some bill Lawrence otherwise you'd run out of battery ahahah So many cool stuff
Thanks so much for noticing! It's a Sega Mega drive/Genesis :) So many little nods to my 90s childhood - my buddy Tristan Tate did such an amazing job with the artwork for this video!
If somebody made a "new" but old-style side scroller video game, this album would be the perfect soundtrack for it! Video game music was so much better in the 90s, and I love the 90s theme of this album! Perfect fit! Hopefully you'll find some time to make an Arcade Metal 2 album! You are a musical genius, Andy!
Andy brother! I love it mate! I will order it as I did neverafter! I'm really stoked that you continued with your song writing even after MPE. \m/ Thank you for blessing us! The folks at SevenString really love your stuff too!
drop a world conquering megahit banger album/artwork/guitarist all-stars Collab/vinyl/music videos on your birthday like a boss....you sure know how to create magic worlds with music bro. Happy birthday!🎂 what i love the most when listening to a new masterpiece is the feeling, when i chose one thats my favourite. then 5 minutes later, no that one. or that one. no, that one. that feeling that has me air guitaring wherever i go, wherever i am, just shut out the world and dive into the melody and watch every note as they fly about.🎵🎶
Oh shit i really loved this! Nostalgia hit hard, so much beauty in this! Kinda feel the same as when remarkably human released by nick johnston. Not the same music but i loved it intensly! I will be listening to this ALOT! Thank you for all the work you do. I love so much of the music you make!
Just discovered this content and it's a big W for me... this guy deserve clearly more! (I'm maybe too late for a comment but keep going!! Your content is awesome)
Remember the Sega days like yesterday, Arcade was such a rush as a child, i was such a nerd growing up, lol i still am just a 37 year old nerd. Love the theme mate
Fuck yeah Andy, you were absolutely amazing live at Melbourne the other month with Orpheus Omega. Such an honour - will defiantly grab another ticket whenever you play in Melbourne again!
I'm usually not someone who listens to albums back to back, but man... Just after it released we had it on whilst driving through the Norwegian mountains on holiday and I've completed it about six times since. It's such a happy album with lots of awesome melodies. This has truly become one of my all time favourites, with 1988 being my personal pick for best single.
Love the vibes, Andy! You've made astonishing work bringing 90s kids together as we used to be when we was playing sega and Nintendo as kids. BUT in Worldwide scale! 🌎🖤 with love your Russian Listener 🤗
I just listened to the first two tracks of the album and I already love it. There's a kind of Beast in Black vibe in the music that I really appreciate.
I had this album on whilst editing a video for my youtube channel. very nice and relaxing with heavy parts. Question: if this music being monetized? I'd love to have some parts of it as background music for some coming videos. I can link to your channel in description...
Thanks! I haven't selected to keep it exclusive, in fact I went out of my way to make sure my previous album wouldnt flag up as copyright so UA-camrs could share it etc, but I didn't see the same option when distributing this one through Distrokid. So I wonder if things have changed, as even I am getting my audio wiped out on Facebook when I post it. I've had to file a report every time I post which is ridiculous! My only suggestion is to upload as unlisted and see if UA-cam flags it! I'd be interested to find out and would be cool with you using it!
@@andygillion Seems unsafe for me, I can't risk my channel getting copyright strikes that I have to battle (to prove I DO have owners permisson). But thanks anyways. I will definitely listen to it more whilst working. Good luck with your content =)
This is awesome! I think classic video game music is really what got me into more complex music as a kid, memorizing and humming all these intricate 8-bit tunes and ultimately I think that is what made metal so appealing and accessible to me. So it’s no mystery to why these types of melodies lend themselves so well to metal. Great work on this, and I hope a v2.0 finds its way to fruition!
This album is sick!, found it on bandcamp today and can't stop listening! Well done dude \m/... and you got Yuzo Koshiro!!! on a track, that's insane, what a legend!
Great album. Concept, vision and execution are outstanding. I can't imagine the amount of hard work that was put into this. Bravo! This just reminded me, I should wear my socks of doom tomorrow.
Man, listening to Arcade Metal on vinyl and cassette tape at the same time, that's the life.
Oh man I've been waiting for this
Arcade beats to shred/melt faces to.
>Final Boss
>Per Nilsson
Yeah, that fits
This artwork would be incredible as a mid 2000's flash site, where you're pixel hunting for all the tracks
haha it really would!
Maaan, i feel the vibe of that room so much 😅 this is gonna be a great listen!
@@andygillion I think I found most of them :) Love the drawing, it kinda has a point and click adventure Game vibe going on.
Great job Andy! As a 90’s kid I really appreciate the vibe here, takes me back. And glad to see Game Over find its place on an album 🤘
Yeah it was a real treat to design this haha
As a 35yo millennial these songs speak to my soul
I feel ya!
If childhood and perfection were a thing? That would be it 🤘🔥
just one more thing: i love this background pic. loved the sega megadrive. so much memories on this picture.
This is so good. Hits the nostalgia from better times when i used to play games growing up. Words cant describe
I feel it too ❤️
Great guest appearances on this album are the cherry on top of the best baked music cake ever....Congrats to this absolutely masterpiece Andy ,can't wait to get my physical edition 🎊🤘❤🔥✨✌

Thank you Sashi!
This is an album I can tell, even at first listen, will deliver over and over and over again. Amazing as always Andy.
Thanks so much Sean!
It’s been a bit more than a year now and this hits me emotionally the same way it did as when it was just released.
Always so nice to hear this sort of thing. Thanks for listening 🙏

Haha you and me both!
This is magnificent Andy, I'm so stoked! The nostalgia is flowing, absolutely epic work. And Tristan's artwork for this is perfect.
