“Arcade Metal” is a video game themed instrumental shred album. It is my love letter to video game soundtracks of old, opening with legendary gaming composer, Yuzo Koshiro (“Streets of Rage”) on synths, before an onslaught of guest guitar solos from Matt Heafy, Jeff Loomis, Per Nilsson, Li-sa-X, Stephen Taranto and Paul Wardingham, with drums performed throughout by 66Samus.
The album was co-mixed and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson at "The Panic Room", Sweden.

Oh man I've been waiting for this
Man, listening to Arcade Metal on vinyl and cassette tape at the same time, that's the life.
Arcade beats to shred/melt faces to.
>Final Boss
>Per Nilsson
Yeah, that fits
This artwork would be incredible as a mid 2000's flash site, where you're pixel hunting for all the tracks
haha it really would!
Been waiting for this for so long and it's finally here. Excuse me while I transcend for the next 40 minutes.
Cheers. With love 💕
Enjoy the journey 🙌
Maaan, i feel the vibe of that room so much 😅 this is gonna be a great listen!
just one more thing: i love this background pic. loved the sega megadrive. so much memories on this picture.
If childhood and perfection were a thing? That would be it 🤘🔥
Just like having the new cool game back then, thank you !!!
Great job Andy! As a 90’s kid I really appreciate the vibe here, takes me back. And glad to see Game Over find its place on an album 🤘
Yeah it was a real treat to design this haha
The album is great without visuals, but the love for details that went also into the optical appearance is the icing on the cake! Love it! Is this kinda how your teenage room looked like, Andy?
Yep! This was super fun to design with my friend Tristan who drew everything. The dog is my childhood dog, Shadow. There are lots of little Easter eggs hiding in there :)
@@andygillion I think I found most of them :) Love the drawing, it kinda has a point and click adventure Game vibe going on.
Putting a legend as Per Nilsson as the final boss must have been one of the easiest decision you've made on this album. Really nice of him to help you out on this one, as with the rest of the guests! This was a phenomenal journey and a great listen. Mad props Andy!
Haha thanks Mattias! Per is a demigod for sure
So amazing ! My favorite is final boss :) contrats dude ! 🤟
Thanks Matteo!
This is so good. Hits the nostalgia from better times when i used to play games growing up. Words cant describe
I feel it too ❤️
Great guest appearances on this album are the cherry on top of the best baked music cake ever....Congrats to this absolutely masterpiece Andy ,can't wait to get my physical edition 🎊🤘❤🔥✨✌
You're the best, Anke, I appreciate your support always 🙌
Not gonna lie, at the announcement of the "arcade metal" project, I was a bit disappointed because i was kinda hoping for a Hereafter 2.0, thought the arcade orientation wouldn't be my cup of tea...
But Holly molly, I couldn't be more wrong ! This album is beyond what i ever felt listening to music ! This is so unique, it is definitly a one of its kind album you made us
An immense bravo to you, and thank you for bringing this world some beauty like this !
drop a world conquering megahit banger album/artwork/guitarist all-stars Collab/vinyl/music videos on your birthday like a boss....you sure know how to create magic worlds with music bro. Happy birthday!🎂
what i love the most when listening to a new masterpiece is the feeling, when i chose one thats my favourite. then 5 minutes later, no that one. or that one. no, that one. that feeling that has me air guitaring wherever i go, wherever i am, just shut out the world and dive into the melody and watch every note as they fly about.🎵🎶
Another Level! Extraordinary.
A perfect masterpiece....Well done man....Mad respect,my dreams have come true.....❤️🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟 ❤️
Thank you Sashi!
My wife just recently bought the Castlevania collection for the Switch & I guess tried out Bloodlines & was like: "Holy Shit! This is excellent!!" I was like: "After that, try Rondo Of Blood for the TurboGrafx CD. Not only is it the precursor to Symphony for the PS1 (which I've beaten 6 times. Game's a classic. Sometimes you're just in the mood for it...)
As a 35yo millennial these songs speak to my soul
I feel ya!
I think I started twerking when glitch started playing 😂 fucking awesome work bro !
Haha you and me both!
Man that water level starts easy but gets really hard by the end.
Hah! Isn't that always the way!
It’s been a bit more than a year now and this hits me emotionally the same way it did as when it was just released.
Always so nice to hear this sort of thing. Thanks for listening 🙏
Nice work Mr Gillion. Saw your genius at work at The Corner. Not usually my go to style, but you’ve won me over to “dual player” mode.
🤘🖤✌️
Thanks mate!
I was born in '84 and this album just 'checks so many boxes', it's perfection and I've had it on repeat for a week straight... My 5 year old loves Glitch and started dancing to it lol. Thanks for the vibes Andy!
Haha thanks so much, love that your kid is rocking out too! 🤘
Reminds me of my teen years. Dreams of rock and roll and a time of fun with no obligations. Well done on another masterpiece that takes us to another place.
They were simpler times eh? Thanks for listening!
This is an album I can tell, even at first listen, will deliver over and over and over again. Amazing as always Andy.
Thanks so much Sean!
Arcade Metal is a masterpiece, not only because of how evocative it is musically, but also because of how different it sounds compared to Neverafter. Most musicians would have mostly stuck to the same musical formula after putting out an amazing album like Neverafter, but not Andy. It genuinely feels like a privilege to be listening to this.
Wow thank you Ramtin! I will release another instalment of Neverafter soon, but I just have too much in my mind and heart to just stick to one style 😊🤘
@@andygillion Yesss! Can't wait (well, with Arcade Metal on repeat maybe I could 😄)
Ok, so Glitch is absolutely killing. Incredible work Andy!
Thanks so much dude! Much love 🤘
This is magnificent Andy, I'm so stoked! The nostalgia is flowing, absolutely epic work. And Tristan's artwork for this is perfect.
Thanks 🙏 Tristan knocked it out the park for sure!
Mad Castlevania/ Metroid / Lords of thunder vibes all over the shop.. good job sir!
Thank you!
If somebody made a "new" but old-style side scroller video game, this album would be the perfect soundtrack for it! Video game music was so much better in the 90s, and I love the 90s theme of this album! Perfect fit! Hopefully you'll find some time to make an Arcade Metal 2 album! You are a musical genius, Andy!
too good to be true..
Fuck yeah Andy, you were absolutely amazing live at Melbourne the other month with Orpheus Omega. Such an honour - will defiantly grab another ticket whenever you play in Melbourne again!
Thanks so much Brock!
FINALLY ITS HERE!
Mors principium est perdió un gran compositor, pero hay andy por mucho tiempo más, gracias por este trabajo. Abrazo desde Uruguay 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love that I can HEAR the Genesis/SNES era sounds IN THE MUSIC while not being covers. You managed to extract the nostalgia and feel without copying the songs...honestly, fantastic album!
Thanks, that's so nice to hear!
Loving it! Mixing synthwave and metal has always been a dream to me and you did it! Congrats on the album, it’s awesome!
Thanks Dimitri!
If you haven't heard of Dance With the Dead check 'em out, there's a lot to enjoy there....with their retro-horror theme they definitely go for the John Carpenter style of 80s synthy stuff
Loved to Death has decent guitar leads on it but the group is like 80% electronic....solid af though love that stuff
Out of Body and Loved to Death are my top 2 picks for them if you wanna check it out
Sith Lord and living guitar program Wardingham brought me here. Top tier stuff.
Paul is the man!!
Awesome stuff!
Brilliant work, Andy!!!
Great melodies, Metal and teenage nostalgia. What else would you need. You sir, are a legend!
Thanks Michael!
Дякую що виклав цей альбом безкоштовно. Сподiваюсь вiн буде дуже крутим
Thanks for checking it out
This is cool, great work Andy!
Thank you :)
Finally!! The album I was waiting whole year :)
This album just flows so epically man. Congrats on such an incredible piece of music.
Remember the Sega days like yesterday, Arcade was such a rush as a child, i was such a nerd growing up, lol i still am just a 37 year old nerd. Love the theme mate
I'm Not Worthy! I'm Not Worthy!! (More please!)
Yes you are!
There's no way that dog wouldn't eat that pizza
Haha, can't disagree with you there!
I can't say how many times I've listened to this album. Too many (never enough lol). Being born in 89 I barely missed growing up in the 80s. The sound and atmosphere this album brings further solidifies the fact that if I was given the option to go back in time, thus is the era I would choose.
Your comment ha made my day, thank you!
Oh shit i really loved this! Nostalgia hit hard, so much beauty in this! Kinda feel the same as when remarkably human released by nick johnston. Not the same music but i loved it intensly! I will be listening to this ALOT! Thank you for all the work you do. I love so much of the music you make!
I'm a big fan of Nick Johnston so thank you! 🤘
The album is an absolute banger.
Congratulations on this awesome work!
Thank you Marcelo!
Fire
Amazing work as always!!!! I will forever keep inserting coins to continue.
This sounds just awesome! The visuals are the icing on the cake. Well done!
Thank you Retro Gaming Panda! :D
wow, i am out of words
this is so goooooooooood

This is fantastic
Thanks Edwin!
This is fantastic Andy!!
Thank you Cathy!
Love the vibes, Andy! You've made astonishing work bringing 90s kids together as we used to be when we was playing sega and Nintendo as kids. BUT in Worldwide scale! 🌎🖤 with love your Russian Listener 🤗
Thank you so much Venen! 🙏
Another great record Andy, keep them coming!
Thanks Alex! 🙌
So satisfying 🤘🏻🤘🏻🙌👏👊
Great stuff Andy!

Thanks Joe! 🤘
Such a delicious way to plunge into the times of carefree childhood. Thank you very much, from Russia with love!
I love this concept. Your streets of rage stuff is LIT bro. I'll be studying your playing for a while.
Thanks Cav!
Wow I like when you give love to your old tunes, hearing "Continue?" redone and extended is great!
Thanks! Was cool to revisit it and defo had a place here :)
Dude this is fkn the best thing ever - what a great motion still!!!!!!
Thanks! I have my mate Tristan to thank for this :)
Wonderfull¡¡¡🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎶🎵🎶
Love all your solo work so far dude! Anything else in the pipeline for future releases?
Cheers Luca. Neverafter II and also a melodeath EP are in the works currently:)
@@andygillion sounds amazing! Cant wait!
Love the nostalgic feel! Makes me want to drag out my Sega Genesis and play some classics. I think Enter the Castle is my favorite.
Just came across this by accident tonight......LOVE IT, thank you!
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it
Playing Streets of Rage 2 with wife while blasting this on the tv. Thanks so much!!!!!
The ultimate combo!! Haha, legendary
Wow! This whole album is brilliant. The compositions are mind blowing. The underlying rhythms compliment the solos perfectly and the back and forth between the keys and the guitar is exquisite. Well played my friend. Wish I could write like this!
Thank you Randy!!
Best metal album in years!!
This is great! I'll pick this up on Bandcamp. But, also, I would LOVE to have the game sound effects you used on this album. :)
Cheers! A lot of the gamey SFX is from a vst synth called Omnisphere 2!
Great album. Concept, vision and execution are outstanding. I can't imagine the amount of hard work that was put into this. Bravo! This just reminded me, I should wear my socks of doom tomorrow.
Thanks so much and please wear them with pride! :)
Best album I've heard this year. Way to go Andy! Love from Bangladesh
Thank you Ahnaf!
I could totally see Insert Coin being the song of a track on F-Zero. Superb work as usual, Andy. The attention to detail is incredible. Just the small things like the small splash coming out of the water on Damn you Water Level really make this a masterpiece.
Hurry up and make the next album now!
I just listened to the first two tracks of the album and I already love it. There's a kind of Beast in Black vibe in the music that I really appreciate.
Love a bit of beast in black! Thanks!
BEST ARCADE GAME !!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 By the way HAPPY METAL BIRTHDAY DUDE!!!
If half of the world positive and inspiring like you. That would be Perfect. Loved the melodies. Great work on the background sound of the synth and the drums sound. Your lead solo flows perfectly with the whole atmosphere. 🤘🤘🤘 Very unique work and very unique style. Congratulations and Love it. Keep up the great work dude 😎
This album is sick!, found it on bandcamp today and can't stop listening! Well done dude \m/... and you got Yuzo Koshiro!!! on a track, that's insane, what a legend!
Thanks so much! Yeah, collabbing with Yuzo Koshiro pretty much made my entire life worthwhile haha
This album is a goddamn Masterpiece, And you Sir, are the MASTER....
Cant express how Beautiful, Amazing, Mesmerizing and Epic this is
Thanks so much, it means a lot to hear!
Sometimes, UA-cam recommendations really pull through. Ordering the CD now!
Wow, thanks so much!!
AMAZING ALBUM 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much!
Woooot! Best discovery for me this year. I remember playing games on my C64 and your music takes me all the way back to my teenage years. If you cover Draconus theme or Lotus I will flip:)
Cheers!
WHAT A GREAT ALBUM!!!
Cheers Hinata! :)
This is awesome! I think classic video game music is really what got me into more complex music as a kid, memorizing and humming all these intricate 8-bit tunes and ultimately I think that is what made metal so appealing and accessible to me. So it’s no mystery to why these types of melodies lend themselves so well to metal. Great work on this, and I hope a v2.0 finds its way to fruition!
Cheers, I couldn't agree more with this !
My Top Albums:
1. Shadows of the Dying Sun - Insomnium
2. Arcade Metal - Andy Gillion
3. Follow the reaper - Children of Bodom
Congratulation, you've topped God Alexi 🥳
Wow, huge honour. I'll never top the legend but I really appreciate making your top albums 🙌
I'm usually not someone who listens to albums back to back, but man... Just after it released we had it on whilst driving through the Norwegian mountains on holiday and I've completed it about six times since. It's such a happy album with lots of awesome melodies. This has truly become one of my all time favourites, with 1988 being my personal pick for best single.
Imagining you driving through Norwegian mountains listening to this has made my day. Thank you!
