If it has the same problem 3 times in 1 year, its a lemon. Take advantage of the Lemon Law
Alex Perry : start the “lemon law” process and return vehicle, get full refund back. There are time restraints and steps in order for it to be considered a lemon. Look at purchase documents. Good luck!
It is that bad...JESUS MOTHER OF GOD

My used car list dwindled from like 4-5 options to Corolla or Civic over the course of maybe two months via Scotty. I had a '96 Grand Cherokee inline six for 15 years, I put 235k on it, I LOVED driving it sooo much I put another $25,000 in parts and repairs to keep it running. But I did love that money pit gas gussler.
Bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8 in 2000, made 262K miles on it. Fixing some issues here and there but can’t imagine a more comfortable car for myself. We drove it on a sandy beach in NC last year and we made it! And yes, my Jeep is 22 years old and has 262K miles on and I love it! 🎉
I'm original owner of a 2008 5.7 Hemi Jeep Commander Overland with a 2 inch lift, 250k miles and it's still running strong and looks great. I also had a 4.7 8 cylinder GC I put 80k miles on with almost no repairs. Jeep has been good to me.
We bought a Grand Cherokee in 2015 and it has been absolutely perfect. Aside from the stupid shift lever which was corrected in more recent years. This truck feels nimble yet supple. The 3.6 ltr V6 purrs like a kitten. Average 22 mpg mixed driving. I believe this suv is the best bang for the money available today. I've only owned Japanese cars since I started driving. I own a Honda S2000 and a Honda Accord. This SUV in my opinion ranks right up there in terms of reliability for us at least. Your mileage may vary ;-)

@@richl4489 thats exactly what i am looking at, the 3.6. i'll be stepping up from my 2010 escape which other than fender rust has actually been a good vehicle to me. I have been looking at a bunch of different things but I keep coming back to the Grand Cherokee, recently I was researching the Acura RDX But we get a lot of snow and I find it's more geared towards being a sports car than an suv, so I think I will pass on that. I buy my Vehicles and keep them until I am pretty much forced to buy another one so I am looking at something that will last a while.
I try to take these videos with a grain of salt. Reliability of vehicles can heavily depend on where they were built, I own a Peugeot 208 and it's been perfect for me.
Great on petrol and fairly nippy, had pretty much no issues since I bought it, but Peugeot is regularly slated on these videos as bad vehicles. Sometimes just depends on luck of the draw.
Basically what I'm learning from this channel is never to buy BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, and the like.

Only recently found your channel and have been learning a lot. Been quite disappointed that you had never named my vehicle, which is utter crap and how I found you. So happy to see it named here. Any doubt I started feeling is now gone!
Only owned one Toyota and it was a 2001 Toyota Camry with the sludge motor in it. Motor started making noise like 8 months after I bought it. Shop said it was a timing belt spent 1300 on a timing belt and motor still made noise. Found online they had sludge motors and your lucky if you get 85,000 out of it. I had 80,000 miles. Traded it in lost my shirt. I will never buy another Toyota even though I know Scotty loves them, I’ll stick with my Jeeps. It's no surprise the quality is going down. These companies have been screwing over and replacing their aging skilled workers with younger workers without experience for a decade now. They pay them far less and the it will take them decades to bring the experience levels back up.
Not just that, but all the plastics are cheap chinese crap, metal is thinner etc etc. Just look at ant 3 year old car with yellow headlights. Surely they have mastered the uv stability of plastic by now. They are built to look nice during the warranty, then splat! Even toyotas are the same.

For what it's worth - my opinion is .... the WK is very practical, it's my trusty XJ replacement, and I've had 3 of those in the past. 16 years later my WK is my longest ever owned vehicle I've driven on a daily basis. With minimal drama or failures, it has never let me down, or left me stranded or even needed a tow truck (yet). All potential repairs are preceded by a subtle noise/clunk warning or an OBD2 code, so you at least can get it fixed before the event occurs. Nothing like preventative maintenance.
I have a choice between a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee or a 09 Nissan rogue(the 2014 version was just sold) I want to travel around the state and I’m also moving soon which one should I get??
Hey Scotty! I'm brazilian and I'd like to talk a little bit about the Jeeps made onver here, in Brazil: they are a piece of junk not because they are made in Brazil, but because the company (Fiat Chrysler) only makes pieces of junk! See, the first Honda Civic's that were made in Brazil, a few years back, were the second in built quality in the world, "loosing" only for the ones made in Japan. Love your videos. Thanks for all the tips!
Daniel Franke nah Brazilian factories are trash heaps and the mechanics and workers are known to be poorly trained. If them keeps were made in America he’ll even Asia I reckon they’d be much better vehicles
@@cerrtz5167 And the award for most ignorant person in a comment section goes to you. 😁 You realize a team can only be as good as it's worst team member, so if Fiat came to Brazil with zero investment in personnel and only to cut costs, their product is showing it. Nooooo I don’t want to Fix It Again Today😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s not that Brazilian people can’t make good cars. The issue is greedy car companies that move their factories to other countries that have lower labor standards and as with most things you get what you pay for. They pay these workers very low wages and get very low quality in return.

I had a 2000 Jeep GC v8 that lasted for over 20 yrs. It was rust that killed it. In all those year, I had an a/c problem once, the front seat needed to be re-bolted in and I blew the calipurs (sp?). I now have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee v6 and I love it. No problems so far.
Scotty , Your arm movements are brilliant , they tell the story so well
“Just because you can do it does not mean it’s a good idea” sounds obvious but I wish everyone would let it sink.
AMEN Scotty!
Had a new 4x4 Compass for 5 years, did absolutely nothing but oil changes. yes it was VERY cheaply made but also extremely simple and nothing high tech to break or give problems. thing literally cost me next to nothing then traded it in during the pandemic for exactly what I bought it for. It did me well
agree same experience
I have a 2011 compass 3 years now,,no problems that would be important,,,,it depends on the owner i guess
correct has nothing to do where is built it depends of regular maintenance.
When you turn the sound off you’d think he is conducting a symbolic orchestra. 😂😂😂😂
Totally agree with you on the Jeep vehicles. I bought a 2007 Jeep Commander (bigger version of the Compass) and it kept randomly cutting off at stops. While under warranty the dealership couldn't figure out the issue therefore never repairing it. I traded that death trap in!
Problem is Scott's talking about newish jeeps after I believe 2014 when fiat took over
“It’s already started to turn into a pit! And will continue to be a bigger pit the longer you own it!”
Funniest thing I’ve ever heard!.... funny but true!
“I don’t know what to do with my hands.”
I love this man, I was about to buy the Jeep Compass thanx for the info
Scotty, your videos are critical! We need this info. Keep it up!!!
I was so happy to see this video today... I recently bought a 2010 Highlander 4wd and you confirmed 3 times in this video I made the right choice.
My daughter's 2016 (built-in 11/15) Jeep Cherokee Latitude V6 has jerking, bucking issues with 'no' Check Engine Light. Even in a standstill on "D" the car will slightly be jerking with your foot on the brake pedal. The stop/start feature does not work. The Jeep has over 96k miles but has been acting up since 50k miles on and off; however, now the jerking is constant. Do I need to bring it to the Dealer or can I just go to an Auto Transmission specialist? Jeep was never brought to the dealer and located in California. Also, will "Car/Auto Shield" help with this issue? Subscribed.
I like playing these videos 2x speed scotty looks like he's on a rush lol
How you do that
@@ridgeviewrecords the 3 dots in your right upper corner. Video speed playback.
Will have to try this Scotty 2X idea…
My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee just hit 175K. She still runs like a champ! Cheap parts to replace labor cost is alright and hope to make it to 400K!
Good luck
My 2016 GC summit in 16 months own ownership with less than 30k on the clock has needed a headlight due to one LED in DRL turning blue. Cant buy it in own so new headlight required. (nearly $3000 here in UK for one, actual £2500 fitted) and a wing mirror due to another LED failing on the indicator (nearly $2000 in UK fitted, actual £1400). I love the car but when the warranty expires it is going. When I asked jeep why parts are so expensive they said it was a luxury brand...my ar$e it is, good car but I wouldn't say a luxury marque personally. My next car will be a range rover, I know it will break but parts are substantially easier to get in UK and therefore cheaper.
Good luck
And it will..
2006 JGC Laredo here. Do you get a transmission overheat message when the outside temperature is over 76°F? Even if you just cranked it?
With Scotty flailing he's arms around like he does, he could easily be mistaken for a conductor for an orchestra
I have a 1999 jeep grand Cherokee limited 200,000own since 2008 no problems until this month need new engine deciding on replacement cost about 2500 for used engine or 5000 for new thinking about spending the 5000 ??
I love my Jeep GC, its got balls. The Sheila's love it too
If your mechanic starts dancing around, yelling, and waving his hands around like a nut, don't walk... run!
Hey scotty, love your videos so much informayion i aleays look at your videos for advise... soon ill be flying inn to SF from south america... and i am looking for a reliable suv. Been looking at rav4 2008 to 2010. any other that you could recomend?
hey scotty I have a 2011 Land Rover freelander LR2 that has never had any problems with 155,000 miles... Are the freelanders built better than other Land Rovers or are they more reilable or something?
Scotty you would make a very good classical conductor for an orchestra. Your hands never stay still. Awesome
I traded in my traverse for my impala. I was just looking to save a bit on gas, I loved my traverse. Mine was all wheel drive and I can tell you it was a great vehicle. I’d say it was the best vehicle I’ve driven in the snow out of all the 4wheel drive vehicles I’ve owned. That traverse was a beast in the snow.
Just took our 2019 Jeep grand cherokee limited offloading to the valley of fire and Logandale Trails. Went rock crawling and drove it through the sand. Still running and havnt had a thing wrong with since we got it. Been up mountains and down in riverbeds.
Great job and good luck
Is UA-cam an endless money pit when it breaks down?
Yea
Brian Healey You know it :)
😂😂😂😂😂😂
_when_ it breaks down?
