DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying my idea for Arya is necessarily what they should've done. I'm certain there are people way smarter than me who have much better ideas for what to do with these characters. My intention just was to give Arya a place in this episode, which aside from the symbolic shit at the end (which I thought was for 8th graders???) she sorely lacks in The Bells. It's not that I need to see Sandor go out a hero and anything other than that just won't do. That's not me. Mainly it's the "don't get consumed by revenge" notion that bothers me the most. The Arya we know and hate would not respond to that the way she did. She should learn that lesson through experience, not through a lecture.
anyway i'm bored plz share ur own ideas 4 wut 2 do wit areya below
Glidus
Why send either Arya or The Hound to KL at all? It's not as if they accomplished anything.
Why not introduce that mother and daughter a couple of episodes ago so that we could get to know them and feel something when they died?
Of course the answer to all these questions is that the writers have become lazy and sloppy.
Look you do the same as every UA-cam reviewer when you ascribe logic and common sense, no matter the circumstance to every character, no matter the situation. Characters are flawed and will not automatically chose the direction you would expect. I understand what you are saying and you are very funny and entertaining but have you ever been irrational? inconsistent in thought? For example, if you were a King and suddenly aware that your existence was about to be terminated by a fuck off great big fire breathing beast, I doubt rationality would enter into it. You might be in shock, might force yourself to believe everything would go your way regardless of the evidence, in short, you might delude yourself. It's not as if many of them were particularly rational to begin with. I would not believe that any character would purely act on logic in any situation. Anyway, would it be fun to watch if they always did what we expect. Since when did human beings become Vulcans from Star trek in their thinking? You view this rather two dimensionally. In retrospect you could say that many of the decisions Richard II and third made were just as dumbfounding but we expect these characters to be perfect? Come on!
@@leeagnew2743 Congratulations, you're one of those people defending the willful and lazy destruction of one of the most beloved TV shows ever. You must be so proud.
It seem Ayra had only one person that took her in as his own daughter in Sandor. The last words to him came out of fear and retrospect for Ayra had no face of Dragons at the moment. In regards of her age despite modern day teen issues of what, when. where, she still is a kid and never faced a Dragon situation. Im with ya on better ways or hoping vibes play out what fans visualize their views. To me The WW died off or written off in E3 S8 and that was it for GOTs, for the writers decided to go along and add a mini pilot series of Darth Daenry and the Rebellion but it s to impress the Star Wars big wig Productions. We all see it, just add bits and pieces of Star Wars audio with S8 GOTs scenes...lol..
If they wanted to do 'don't get consumed by revenge' they needed to give it some actual weight. Maybe the two of them get cut off by the rubble of the keep falling to pieces around them and Sandor has to choose between going to fight his brother or saving her life (and have him be the only reason she survives the whole destruction of Kings Landing, because her fucking plot armour was so strong this episode it was literally keeping the Red Keep up until she left). Sandor who's whole life has been about wanting revenge on his brother, discarding that to save her life, giving her the revelation that the living people in your life are more important than getting revenge for the dead.
I don't know, screen writing is so hard /s
Varys saying he'd always hated "The Bells" back in season 2 was great foreshadowing for how horrible this episode would be.

That's what he saw in the fire when the sorcerer burned his bits.

"Jaime's character has died and his body been captured." is a perfect description.
I wasnt annoyed over him dying whilst choosing Cersei, I was more annoyed at how anticlimactic he was. He's been stressing for the past seven seasons that "We dont chose who we love." so him either sropling that idea or sticking with it would've been fine with me, but why the fuck were they killed by ROCKS! FUCKING ROCKS!
@@Finn-pz8hc you know how to make it climactic? Cersei sent bron and his group not to help defend winterfell but to assassinate Danerys, Sansa or Jon Snow while being distracted preparing to defend against the Night king. Bron and cersei plan to poison them. Jaime was surprised Bron came to winterfell, suspected him and prevented the assassination because he knows the poison he gave to olenna. Bron and his group did not get a chance to kill dany instead they try to sneak(surprise attack) jon and sansa in a secluded dark place but brienne protected the starks (brienne vs bron epic fight). Jaime saw this and was torn who to allied with but he saw brienne and jon being outnumbered so he protected brienne. Bron killed Brienne while protecting the starks(character arc complete). Jaime backstabbed Bron and died. Jaime held Brienne's dead body suspecting Cersei is the mastermind. Tyrion is looking Bron's dead body. Bron lived by the sword and died by the sword he paid the price for being greedy(character arc complete). They failed to defend winterfell. They lost another dragon. The night king won and got winterfell.
Meanwhile before the battle of winterfell, Arya went back to south (kingslanding) wearing meryn trant face and killed Cersei in a surprising fashion. Arya's last words to Cersei while stabbing her and before beheading her "I am Arya Stark. Look at me. This is the last face you'll see before you die." (Character arc complete) Qyburn suspected meryn trant so he and the mountain went to Cersei's room only to find her head separated from her body.
After they lost winterfell to the night king, Jaime came back to Kings Landing to ask Cersei if she sent Bron to assassinate the starks and dany which lead to Brienne's death and Bron's death only to find Cersei's dead decapitated body. Jaime is looking Cersei's face the way he looks Cersei in season 6x10 when she claimed the iron throne after tommen suicide. Jaime's felt empty.
Season 8 episode 9 is when the Night King attacks Kings Landing. Bran will use all his ability to help Jon and Dany. Bran told them that the NK cannot be killed by fire, valyrian steel or dragonglass alone. It will be 3vs1 (Dany, Jon and Bran vs Night king). Bran told them that the NK can be killed by a Targaryen blood only with a sword blessed by melissandri's fire. They made a plan to close the distance between the NK and Jon who has the chance to win a swordfight against the NK. Dany will die sacrificing herself to give Jon and Bran the upperhand against the night king. Flashes back before her eyes all the good memories she had in essos (Khal Drogo, her child and everyone loyal to her). The north and westeros will appreciate Dany's sacrifice. She cleaned the reputation of the Targaryen house after the Mad king. She is not like her father and she proved it by sacrificing her 2 dragons and her soldiers and herself. (Character arc complete)
She will have a statue in KingLanding as a hero who save Westeros.
Meanwhile Jaime Lannister helped rebuild all the castles destroyed by the NK including winterfell and castle black. (Character arc complete)
I was going to sneeze but the line "Jon stops a rape because come on man were only here to mass murder" made me wheeze so hard it went away. Amazing.
You have to admit Lena looks out from a balcony very impressively. If about 50% of the episode was set on the balcony I'd have liked it more.
"Arya walks around, no doubt looking for a plot to be part of and eventually ruin" 😂
Arya is a trained plot assassin. Kill every plot with a single stabby stab
Ya that line is legend. So fuckin true 😂
“The Lannister army surrenders just in time for Dany’s coin to land”

It would be a more satisfying ending to be honest, i was more excited to see whats going to happen with him and the White Walkers more than the Iron Throne 😂
i wanted to see the night king reach the throne room, to see the iron throne melted.
Never Trust An Elf honestly was hoping bran would stand and raise his arms raising all the dead after dany destroys King’s landing and all south of the wall is consumed by wights this is even after the night king gets killed cuz bran and the night king have a connection after they touched so like half and half idk but there is so much better that could’ve been done
But then isn't that just the same problem as the current ending: character development just thrown down the gutter? That no matter how much development characters got or how smart someone is, the universe (Night King) will whoop your arse?
Here's an unpopular opinion: I always hate the concept of prophecy and magic. Especially in a show that's about the achievements of men and women (the intrigue, people rising through the ladders for a better life, etc.). The main idea is for people to determine their own destiny. But for some abracadabra prophecy to say that "oh, you're supposed to do this, you're supposed to do that", that just mutes the point of "you make your own destiny".
@@alexanderchristopher6237 The point isn't about throwing away character development, or how smart you are. The core message is, if you don't band together to take on a near invincible enemy, you're screwed. It doesn't matter how smart you are or how much you've changed if you don't live at all.

I just love how, they named this episode ‘THE BELLS’, they hinged the entire plot on Cersei surrendering by ringing the bells, they used the bells to signify Dany’s decent into her fathers madness because she ignored them and in fact seemed angry that they would even try to surrender to her ....

Imagine if the Three Eyed Raven was the true antagonist and its goal was to ensure that humans would remain divided by conflict & strife so that they could never again unite in common purpose against the Children of the Forest. Whenever it seemed like Westeros was starting to stabilize, it would take action to ensure this cycle continued. Whispering madness into the memories of the Mad King. Revealing Jon Snow's true name to plant seeds of discord in the seven kingdoms. Warging into Daenerys and forcing her to burn King's Landing.
The Night King saw through this and swore revenge on the Children of the Forest, planning to "break the wheel" by uniting humanity against a common enemy and awakening them to the true danger and the real threat that lay beyond winter.
Na sounds too much like real life only the royal and elite family bloodlines are the 3 eyed raven and children of the forest.
This comment is good writing. I wish Dan and Dave had your brain you put more into it than they did.
That's actually pretty dope
Congratulations. You just wrote a better story than anything that happened in season eight. Three thumbs way up. XD
Ya cant unite humanity by turning every single one of them into wights. However, I do believe the children of the forest and 3eRaven are evil. Hell, I'm guessing, and it's a pure guess, humans declared war on them and tried to exterminate them and their magic (and magic trees) probably because of something really fucked up that they did. Hey, what if humans declared war on them after they realized they created the white walkers to exterminate humanity and populate the continent themselves, as opposed to what we are told - that the children were hunted by humans BEFORE they created the white walkers. A fun thought.
Imagine Zuko from Avatar would‘ve joined his father in the very last episode to be killed off… imagine the outrage

No worries, the real KLs is still standing. Bran teleported everyone to Qarth by mistake which is why we see desert land in front of the castle. Jon’s body double will rule the real KLs.
In the lore section of a good season, Jorah’s actor reads “Only a fool would meet the Dothraki on the open field”, then describes how the Unsullied were the first to beat them. Here, the Golden Company stands outside the defensive walls with no protection to meet enemies they know are Unsullied or Dothraki. Why build walls around a city if not to stand on them when defending it?
I don't understand it either. It made sense for the blackwater battle, since most of their soldiers were not propely trained and were likely to surrender if the battle seemed to turn against them(a.k.a if the door breaks), plus Stannis's fleat had just reached the coast in panic and after having just escaped the frecking wildfire, so they weren't exacly ready to fight, but here, they have the best mercenary army in the world and they waste it by putting them in front of the walls!

Nagasaki was only half as bad. It is known.
Truthfully I love your idea about Arya. It's kinda what I was hoping to see happen. Like they would have her and Sandor going after Cersei. Sandor starts fighting Zombie Boi while Arya goes after Cersei but during the fight Sandor gets hurt and cries out loud enough for Arya to hear. Arya then gets stuck with a tough choice: kill Cersei and knock the top name off her list or save the Hound to not help one of her few friends but also make up for her inability to save Syrio long ago.
After a couple seconds she runs back to the Hound and joins in the fight, but she too is unable to do much to the Mountain and is beaten to near death before Sandor uses the distraction Arya caused to cut off his brother's head, finishing him off once and for all. However Sandor then collapses, revealing a mortal wound he suffered at the hands of Frankenstein. Arya tries to offer aid to the Hound but he tells her to instead put him out of his misery, to end the pain. She reluctantly agrees, and after a couple of words between them in which he tells her to not live for revenge and instead find peace in her life she finishes off the Hound.
She then starts to cry, a crack in her previously stoic persona she's crafted becoming a massive fissure as she mourns for one of the most important people in her life and realizes that even with all her training and experience she still can't always save everyone. That being a bringer of death doesn't mean she can always keep those close to her alive. That living solely for revenge truly is pointless.
Arya not giving Sandor the gift of mercy is the third-biggest mistake this episode made and I cannot believe I didn't mention it in my video. Thanks.

These pisstakes are the best, hilarious but also right on point
the thing that gets me the most is that they tried to justify Dany 'snapping' and burning kl as her being a Targaryen
by that logic, Jon should also be mad
and there were only 6 mad Targ from a 300 year dynasty
in the books and the show, people said countless times she wasn't like her brother or father, Selmy himself said that she wasn't like her father
they really changed her entire character cause of? idk, shock factor?
another thing: aunt/nephew or uncle/niece relationships aren't considered taboo in Westeros and the Starks have had a few of these marriages
finally, I believe they gave Dany the mad queen plot when in the books it'll go to Cersei
I just can't see how GRRM will be able to 180 Dany is two books and make it believable and not what I've come to expect in terms of 'here's a female character, she has flaws and must die for them even though male characters have done the same things and get off freely'
Oh Dany is going to go mad in the books, you can already see the cracks forming if you pay attention, her thoughts once she flies away on Drogon clearly point to it. I think GRRM is going to use Aegon/young Griff as the main thing that drives her to full on violent madness, he might take the iron throne before she can or maybe Euron's plot with the horn will actually work and she will lose a dragon. Martin will do it well, he's not going to pull the 'oh she's a Targ so automatically crazy' card, it's going to be things stacking up until she cracks.
Josh T That’s a good point hahaha I’ll be said if it happens in the books though she’s my favorite I think what might happen is DANY will burn KL as it doesn’t surrender which is more in line with both Ceresi and DANY in the books and George likes making all his characters morally gray so as DANY only burned everyone as they didn’t surrender we have to decide if it’s right or not I also feel bad for George as dragons are supposed to be impossible to kill and then D& fucking D come along and I hope she ends up with all three dragons a even after she burns the city
Well in the books Dany already ordered the torture of an innocent girl to get information from her father on the harpies in Mereen. To me this is quite the indication that she started walking down a darker path.
Jon isn't a full Targaryen so he wouldn't go mad like a full Targaryen like Dany.

but later on he seems to genuinely believe it, for some reason
@@Glidus yes, that was so disappointing. Finally something smart happened again and with potential for drama and... it was just dnd again...
teleportation would've helped robb A LOT!!!
or those cheeky jetpacks laying around everywhere, wouldve solved that whole Frey mess
Remember Tyrion is only okay with betraying your queen so long as he is the one doing it.
i love that the civilians literally enter king landing out of nowhere symbolising how the writers brought them in out of nowhere to make dany more evil
0:15 - best use of It's Always Sunny opening OF ALL TIME 🤣
civilians arent entering the city, they're entering the red keep (sort of an inner city) . The real question is how Jaime, sandor and Arya managed to get into a city under siege
D & D are freaking magicians. 100 million people watched an episode where Varys tries to poison Dany, and NO ONE SAW IT.
"I don't want it."
SHUT UP, JON!
To me the most mind boggling is Jamie's arc or lack thereof. I mean com'on.
"Oh yeah it's battle time. Time to turn your brain off and defend poor writing on the internet!"
Brilliant
Dany should have never helped the North period.
Agreed! That's when she got fucked over by her advisors when she hadn't even done anything wrong yet, lost half her army and lost Jorah.
@@sydnitheromantictaylor112 Occupational hazards of a conqueror.
Next.
Dany constantly did the right thing, and when she listened to her advisors they inevitably fucked things up for her. We give GRRM way too much credit - he fucked this story up with bad plots a long time ago.
She should have flown to kings landing, no army, burned the red keep down in the night, and declare the wheel broken. Alternatively, shown up with the army, burned down the Red Keep, etc.
There was never a moment where she needed the army in westeros. Three Dragons could have ended all resistance.
@@thanesgames9685 that has nothing to do with GRRM Danny is still in essos in the book
I’ve been saying this forever. Or at least she should’ve took her entire army and her dragons end just went back home, after realizing no one was gonna thank her for her help against the night king and his army.
So late to all of your videos but it feels good to get more catharsis even two years later lol 😂
This channel is a fucking blessing to the world. I came here because Alt Shift X recommended. I haven't had consecutive laughs this hard in a loooong time :D
The golden company’s only purpose being to give Arya a lift 😭
D&D: dany goes mad queen and jaime forgets to be jaime
Everyone: *wHaT?*
Kudos to D&D: they matched perfectly kit harington two only facial expressions, with the two only lines of dialogue they give him in season 8
The Night King, who only stares expressionlessly, has more range of expression than poor Kit.
I think your Arya/Sandor/Gregor scene would have worked extremely well. Have Hound fight -Queensrÿche- Queensguard while Arya battles Greg. Sandor’s death would have been more worthy in that context and the events could have been enough for Arya to reconsider her direction. Cool idea bro. Works to advance plot and character development at the same time. Shame screen writing is so hard.
Value my goolies.
Yep, that would work, now add Cersi pinned in a corner unable to make an escape past the fighting, she only gets out when sandor takes greg out the window, and Arya is too wounded to get at her. Then Jon burst in (having fought his way to the keep), has a choice, pursue Cersi or rescue Arya...he chooses Arya and manages to get them both to safety through the chaos.
This has bugged me (among other things) but WHY did Drogon fly *straight through* the tower with Dany *on his back*
He stole the USS Enterprise's shields. That's why.
Targaryens are fireproof, of course they'd be rubble proof as well what are you on about
Comparing season 8 to atomic bombs is the perfect analogy. Thank you.
And the crazy thing is that they WROTE AN ALTERNATE SCRIPT THAT (kinda, was at least a little better) MADE MORE SENSE!!! The original script was for Dany to attack King's Landing and avoid to kill any innocents but she accidentally sets off the wildfire that ends up destroying the city. SHE DID NOT INTENTIONALLY KILL PEOPLE! Tyrion then lies to Jon about it being like "She actually DID kill people on purpose" So he manipulates Jon into killing Dany, then Jon realizes that he lied and gets super mad at him. Anyways, that was the original first draft that Dumb and Dumber created and I thought it was a tiny better. Made more sense for Dany's character at the very least. (They also LIED to Emilia Clarke about the ending, the sweetest person who didn't deserve for her character to be destroyed.)
Yeah it's way better - not perfect, but orders of magnitude better than the final product. You can't help but feel sorry for all the actors.
I think they were so afraid of making Tyrion anything less than a good guy they chickened out on him betraying Dany to save his family. They had a clear setup to that in mind, but then watered it down. My other thought on how this could work would be after accidentally setting off the wildfire Dany announces she is going to destroy all the noble houses and they conspire to eliminate her to keep their power intact, giving some grey to the heroes.
@Glidus you’ve MADE MORE SENSE than ANYTHING in the entire fuckin season! Well, the last 2 seasons and pretty much 6 too.
Thanks!🙏🏼
Honestly... I don‘t want GoT to end... cause there will be no more pisstakes done by you 🥺
Well, he did s7, he's doing s6 this year, and he's said in comment sections that he plans to do s5, so the pisstakes will last at least a while longer.
Tyrions bad Valyrian scene is there to remind everyone that Tyrions Valyrian is rubbish.
Because of that, in the next episode when Dany speaks in Valyrian, he will misunderstand a lot from her speech.
So, Dany said in S08E04 "now we will win the last war".
In S08E06 she said "the war is not over".
Now this is either terrible writing, or Dany kind of forgot how she'd described this war against Cersei, or, and this is what I think they went for - I certainly hope they did, Dany's speech is actually seen from Tyrions perspective, misunderstanding what she said there, wrongly quitting, wrongly assuming he is on death row, (he was not - Grey Worm did not kill him and he got to the dragon pit scene) manipulating Jon to kill Dany and actually making everything a terrible misunderstanding and a terrible mistake.
He stopped drinking and as a consequence, he stopped knowing things
"So I guess the cooldown is over now? WTF, please stop!" Hahaha, that got me.
The Burlington Bar represents the WORST of the fandom.
🙌
"Gregor tries to Oberyn Sandor, and Sandor tries to Jory Gregor, but neither works. Then they decide to Tommen together, and that does work" LOST MY S*IT
Look forward to these every week, giving it a rewatch to mentally prepare for tonight
This was so good man
Thanks for all the hard work you've done
