QRP with lousy band conditions? Let's give it a shot!

  • I've had a Penntek TR-35 on loan from Brian Swann for a while now. I've been trying to get out to do an activation with it for quite a while, but the weather has been absolutely abysmal here in New York. I finally got a weekend that it DIDN'T rain cats and dogs, but it was brutally cold for late April, and the solar conditions were.....in a word....hideous. I knew running QRP was going to be a challenge, and boy was I ever right. After fighting the bands for a while I brought out the big guns and finished the activation (even squeezed in a little SSB). I'm not sold on the TR-35. It's not a bad radio, but there are too many things about it I'm not a fan of. I want to give this radio a fair shot, so I'll use it again when the bands are better before I pass judgment. Thanks everyone for watching and 73!

When you said more power I was expecting the G20, not the ftdx10 😂. Awesome

Where did you find a table like that? Been searching but have not found a good one. Just found your videos and webpage while looking for FX-4CR info. 73 KD0OPS
